    CHAPTER

    OFFICERS

    Knights of Columbus

Vol. 15 No. 11 May 20SUFFOLK CHAPTER NEWS

From the Chapter Chairman’s Desk … My Dear Brother Knights,

This is a reminder that our May Chapter meeting will be held atMother Cabrini Council in Coram on the THIRD FRIDAY IN MAY (MAY20TH). We will be honoring our Clergy at this meeting. If you intend to bringyour Chaplain to this meeting please make sure to contact Chairman NormWagner if you have not already done so. It is extremely important to havean accurate count. We will also be doing the Living Rosary.

I would like to thank John and Amelia Joseph for the great job thatthey once again did on the Communion Breakfast. There were 109 people

in attendance . By passing the hat for donations for Birthright, over $400.00was collected along with a tremendous amount of baby items and clothing.Thank you to all who participated.

I would also like to thank Chairman of the Board John Mastrosimoneand his Board of District Deputies for the great job that they did on the Nightat the Races that they hosted to benefit the Sunrise Fund and the FACProgram. Do to a conflict of interest, I was attending the Nassau ChapterCharity Ball, but I understand that it was a huge success. Thanks to all whowere involved, and those who attended.

John Lazar is the Chairman of the Nominating Committee. Pleasecontact him if you intend to run for an office for next year. The elections

will be held at OLOR in Deer Park on June 17th

, which is the THIRDFriday in June. We are still in need of a Treasurer, please consider runningfor this position.

Gene Johann has planned a great golf outing. It will be held at PortJefferson Country Club on Monday May 9, 2016, which is the new date thatwas postponed from April 11th. Dinner will be provided by Lombardi’s on theSound, and the cost is $160.00 per golfer. It should be a very enjoyableday. Don’t forget to sign up for this, you won’t be disappointed. If you areunable to attend, sponsor signs are available for purchase. Please refer tothe flyer in this issue.

As you know Paul Basileo and his team are hard at work on our

current Charity Drive. Please give them your full support to make this fundraiser a success. They would appreciate any assistancethat you can provide, whether it is selling Charity DriveBooks or Soliciting ads for our journal. Now is the timeto make your reservations for the Charity Ball onJune 26th. It prevents a lot of confusion if yourreservations are made early, instead of waiting untilthe last minute.

There are several fund raisers that are planned to

support the Sunrise Fund. Please make every effort to

attend and support them. Continued on page 3

In 1954, lobbying by the Order of the Knights of Columbushelped convince the U.S. Congress to add the phrase "under

Eisenhower wrote to Supreme Knight Luke E. Hart thankingthe Knights for their "part in the

“I pledge allegiance to the flag of the United States of America, and to the republic for
