• Causes one to yield, submit, obey by surrendering self to the established order
• Subjection occurs for two reasons:– Due to a role, work, position or rank of another– As a voluntary yielding of love
• It is necessary for harmony, contentment peace and unity with God and in relations with others 2

HOW?What is needed to be in subjection
• Respect for authority–Living under authority is the essence of
subjection, Jno. 13:16-17– Jesus, Jno. 14:28; 8:28-29–At the cross, Acts 8:32-33–The Roman centurion, Matt. 8:9

• Respect for authority is seen when we submit ourselves:– To God’s word (Christ), Lk. 6:46– In the home (in love and service),
Eph. 5:22-25– To government (for conscience sake),
Rom. 13:5– To employer (as to the Lord), Col. 3:22-24

• Love for others– We submit when God says to for love’s

being obedient to God, Gal. 2:20; Lk. 9:23• Obedience: Matt. 7:21; Titus 2:5; 2:9; Eph. 6:1

subjecting ourselves to each other– Yield up a liberty in order to benefit another,

• Healthy, godly families– Instead of divorce: Leadership that serves
and subjection that respectfully obeys
– Instead of neglect: Surrender self-interest
– Instead of rebellious children: Teach and learn respect for authority by obedience

• The salvation of others, 1 Pet. 3:1-2– Influence others to respect and submit to
authority when they see you doing so–Our subjection to God’s will on being in
subjection helps save others!• Our own salvation, Matt. 10:37-39– Complete subjection to Jesus
