Meet the “Working”

Ensemble

Amanda Perry is an actress originally from the Bay Area. Some of her favorite roles include playing Cinderella in Cinderella and playing June in Gypsy. This is her first show with the CSHP and in LA! When she's not acting she likes hiking with her dogs, playing video games, and listening to musical theatre soundtracks. Aris Kakkis is excited to return to the CSHP for his third production following roles in two shows last season: URINETOWN and 12 Angry Jurors. Recent highlights include performing in Taylor Mac’s "Holiday Sauce” at UCLA’s Royce Hall, and backing up the legendary Mavis Staples for the Grammy/Musicares celebration of Dolly Parton this past February. When not on stage, he enjoys his alternate career in movie marketing, studio recording, photography, gardening and his beloved Bernese Mountain Dog, Carson. He sends his love to his friends and family for their support and for giving him a chance to sing somewhere besides the shower. Visit him online at www.ariskakkis.net. Carlos Gomez Jr. Exploring the stage outside of school productions, Carlos is privileged to have played Freddy Rodriguez and Utkarsh Trajillo, his first two principal roles. He humbly thanks his director, cast and crew for such a needed and immersive experience. Carlos also thanks his long time theatre mentors and friends from LAVC, for he would not be the performer he is today without them. Last, but sure as heck not least, he extends his gratitude to his family for their endless support. Thank you for taking the time to watch this beautiful masterpiece of a show, and Carlos hopes that he sees you again next time you need a delivery service. David Beraru is proud to be back with the members of our CSHP family. He performed in Company, Picasso at the Lapin Agile, Once On This Island, and as Snoopy in You're A Good Man, Charlie Brown. This year he joined the Angel City Choral for their AGT winning season. He has completed his 20th year as a lead singer for “Sing, Sing, Sing.” After 30 years as a science teacher at Robert A. Millikan Middle School and Performing Arts Magnet School he will finally get to retire… Thank you, “Joe!” Dena Navarroli is making her stage debut after being away from the theater for 5 years. She moved to LA a little over year ago to pursue a career in film and television acting, but she's always had a soft spot for theater. She began acting when she was 7 years old and has had the opportunity to play many roles. She also has experience in improv comedy and has a knack for making people laugh. She thanks her friends and family for their love and support on this amazing journey of life. Devin Johnson was born and raised in New York City. She moved to Los Angeles just over a year ago to pursue a degree in Film and Television Producing while also launching her professional career as an entertainer. She is currently heavily involved in her college’s Student Government, an intern at The Second City Hollywood, and is the Executive Producer and Showrunner of her very own social media press platform called Celeb Talks! Enrique Quintero is a Puerto Rico born, Los Angeles trained actor, writer, video editor, and muralist. He graduated with a Bachelor of Science degree in Biology from the Univer-sity of Puerto Rico. He recently played Sonny in In The Heights. Other theater credits in-clude Chicago, A Chorus Line, Tree of Hope, The Study, Vampire Lesbians of Sodom, Fixed, and The Call of Cthulhu. Enrique also has a YouTube channel titled DORKSIDED, which recently reached the 70,000 view milestone. Catch him in theaters with the upcoming release of Anchor and Hope and Tu Me Manques. Enrique is currently seeking represen-tation.

About the Ensemble

Giane Morris is very excited to bring this show to life! Giane was the recipient of the Theatre Palisades Best Lead Actress Award for the 2017-2018 season for her role as Luisa in The Fantasticks. She made her stage debut in August 2016 as Ruth in Gilbert & Sullivan’s Ruddigore (Proof Doubt Theatre Company). Other productions include Marcy Park in The 25th Annual Putnam County Spelling Bee (ARTS), Attina in The Little Mermaid (ARTS), Broadway Night at the VA, and Broadway to the Rescue at the Montalban Theatre in Hollywood. Thank you and enjoy the show! IG: @gianemay Hedley VanKuch is thrilled to be a part of the CSH Playhouse production of Working - The Musical as Theresa Liu. When not onstage breaking out into song and dance as a nanny or in front of the camera, Hedley can be found surfing, boxing, reading, eating Indian food, or writing. Lots and lots of writing. In fact, this fiery red-head who hails originally from the mid-south has authored a feminist women’s novel entitled Karaoke with the Devil, a gritty and compelling depiction of current women's social and cultural issues. Presently, she is working to get it published so that she may support her Indian food-loving habits and someday live her dream of being a full-time author and actor. James Schueller got his start playing live music as the singer of various original and cover bands before discovering his love for acting and musical theater. Originally from Primghar, Iowa, James has actually had several of the jobs highlighted in Working and is excited to be in his first performance at the CSHP. James can also be seen this summer on the live sketch comedy show "TMI Hollywood" as well as performing with his band Midnight Junkies. Lynette Smith is a proud alumni of the CSH Playhouse who debuted playing Robbie the Stockfish in URINETOWN last year. She is a theater person from waaaaay back and has had the privilege of participating in many community productions. A retired teacher herself, she can certainly identify with the trials and tribulations of working girls of all kinds. She is also excited to be a director of our new offshoot, CSHKids, which will involve children from ages 10-17 in exciting new ventures including a possible musical in the fall. Stay tuned! Mackayla Hill is excited and honored to return to the CSHP for her 7th show. You may recognize her as Layla the Bard from Tabletop or Juror 6 from 12 Angry Jurors most recently! Originally from Colorado, she transplanted here for school having worked in community theater in Aurora and graduating with her Bachelor's degree in Acting for Film from the New York Film Academy. We hope you enjoy Working the Musical. Quinlynn Mainwaring This is Quinlynn’s first production with the CSH Playhouse. She moved to Los Angeles from New York this past year and was recently seen in the San Gabriel Repertory Theatre’s production of Prarried Treasure as heroine Sally Everafter. She is a graduate of California State University of Sacramento and The American Musical Dramatic Academy New York for musical theatre. She wants to give a huge thank you to her friends and family for their continual love and support.

About the Ensemble

Creative Team

Marshelle Giggles-Mills (Director, CSHP Board Member) is a surprisingly awkward, tree hugging writer and theatre artist born and raised in sunny Los Angeles, by way of Louisiana and Texas. At three years old, she was determined to one day grow up and work at a donut shop. Not all dreams come true. Later, she set her sights on being an educator, which proved much easier. Favorite works in the director’s chair include the west coast revival and sold-out run of the award-winning drama Zooman and the Sign, Once on This Island, Theory of Relativity and 12 Angry Jurors. A charter member of the CSHP, Marshelle is known for her love of people, musicals, and distrust of squirrels. She wishes to express love and thanks to her husband Doug and to three children for their unyielding support.

Larry Collica (Musical Director, CSHP Board Member) is thrilled to be back behind the piano at CSHP for Working. NYC Musical Director/Orchestra Member credits: Little Shop of Horrors, Annie, Guys and Dolls, Fiddler on The Roof, and Oliver! CSHP credits: Urinetown, Theory of Relativity, Once On This Island, You're A Good Man Charlie Brown, 25th Annual Putnam County Spelling Bee, Company, Seasons of Love, Hard Candy Christmas 2, 3, and 4. When he's not rehearsing at the CSHP, he has his hands full with Joanna (4 years old), who is destined to be CSHP's youngest leading lady, and Alexandra (18 months old), who might want to be an actress one day but is really focused on throwing shoes all over the house. Love to his wonderful wife Sarah for supporting him in his musical theater adventures. Love to Joanna for not breaking anything in the house…yet. Love to Alexandra for also not breaking anything in the house yet, but I'm not so confident that will continue. Love to his parents back in NYC who always encourage him to never turn down a gig. To this wonderfully talented cast--thank you for pushing me as we went through an extremely difficult score in terms of harmonies (only 6 part harmony, how hard can that be?!).

Jessica Worland (Technical Director, Production Design and Construction) Jessica has been with CSHP for 5 years! Her previous CSHP credits include Company, You’re A Good Man Charlie Brown, Once On This Island, A Piece of My Heart, Theory of Relativity, and 12 Angry Jurors. Jessica would like to thank her loving husband Matt for his constant support and faith in her through all her endeavors. She'd also like to acknowledge those who have influenced her "work life": her Grandmother, who was a single working mom of two boys but never missed a baseball game, her father, who taught her to work hard but never lose perspective, and her first boss, Leta, who taught her how to run an efficient office but do so with humanity, flair, and a healthy sense of humor.

Creative Team Brittany Joy Sundman (Stage Manager) This is Brittany’s 4th show as stage manager at the CSHP. Brittany has been involved in the theater world in various roles from the age of 11, including as a theater technician at Pepperdine University where she earned a bachelor’s degree in psychology. She lives in Los Angeles with her more talented half, Kyle, in a home where the cats outnumber the humans. In her free time, Brittany enjoys coloring hair, playing board games and ‘90s video games, practicing photography, and re-watching her favorite sitcoms for the 100th time. We know it’s the weekend, but we hope you enjoy Working anyway.

Canon Hamlin (Assistant Stage Manager) has performed in a staged reading at this theater, and been an audience member multiple times, but he’s excited to be working backstage for the first time at the CHSPlayhouse. When he’s not helping with the theater, you can find him running email servers, running Dungeons and Dragons games, and running on the track. He hopes you enjoy Working as much as he’s enjoyed working on it!

Savannah Van Leuvan (Lighting Design) Savannah Van Leuvan is thrilled to be designing her third show at CSHP, especially since Working was one of the first shows she was ever in! Recent productions include: 12 Angry Jurors (CSHP), Cabaret (Debatable Productions), UMPO: Stranger Things (Rockwell Table and Stage), Into the Woods (Camarillo Skyway Playhouse), Little Women (Camarillo Skyway Playhouse), and Urinetown (CSHP). She has a BA in Theatre from the University of Massachusetts, Amherst and will be starting the MFA in Lighting Design program at the University of California, Irvine this fall.

Suzanne Ryan (Producer, CSHP Board Member) A life long thespian, Suzanne got an idea that the Valley needed another theatre, and some wonderful people agreed. And that’s how the CSHP started. After 7 years and many shows, there is still nothing that brings more joy to her life than this theatre. She can’t call it working because it’s really playing. Hope you enjoy the show!
