Entry Requirements

There are usually no set entry requirements for Traineeships or Level 2 Apprenticeships. Entry requirements are flexible because Apprenticeships are not just based on academic achievement.

Employers value your enthusiasm for work and desire to learn, so your practical skills and interest in your chosen area are very important

Both Apprenticeships & Traineeships are open to anyone over 16 living in England, not currently in full-time education or holding a university degree.

Traineeships is a new programme for young people who want to work, but who need extra help to gain an apprenticeship or job. Traineeships will give young people the opportunity to develop the skills and workplace experience that employers require.

Traineeships were introduced from August 2013 for 16- to 23-year-olds (and young people with learning difficulty assessments up to academic age 25). Traineeships fit within broader study programmes for 16- to 19-year-olds.
