If you had to plan a journey, how would you do it?You would probably use a well known search engine (or something similar); but you would need to know where you were going to start from, and where you wanted to go!Planning for your future is just the same; you need at least some idea of where you want be. Make the most opportunities to talk to other people (parents, friends, teachers, tutor, etc. ) about what you want to do; next term, next year, after your G.C.S.E.s…Unfortunately, you don’t get a SatNav at school to keep giving you directions, but you do get a planner; you need to use your planner like it’s a road map – it should be full of all the little pieces of information you need to keep you on track, so use it!You could even go a stage further a get a wall calendar for your room, so you can see more of your journey in one go…

Planning and preparing for your future is like setting up dominoes; every lesson, every homework, every time you read a book or a paper, every time you attend a club, every time you use your planner to prepare your bag for the following day, is a small thing, just like setting up a single domino, but if you manage to keep setting them up, you end up with something spectacular, and when you set them off (like when you sit down in an exam), the results will be amazing!

The weight of importance of the Baccalaureate is still unclear; but it is likely to be considered by some institutions.Securing good GCSEs is not just about the grades themselves (which universities will consider too), it is about the foundations they provide for A levels.Universities used to be limited to how many students they could accept with grades of AAB or better, but not any longer; this is likely to make competition for places at these institutions even greater.Look at ucas.com today!The importance of literacy; if you want to go to university, you need to read regularly! It’s another domino!

The high expectations of our school have resulted in success at a national level.This has led to us working with a number of schools, locally, and has eventually led to our sponsorship of Meden School. There have been rapid and significant improvements at Meden, and no detrimental affect on THS results.The most significant benefit to Toot Hill pupils is our ability to attract and retain highly enabled teachers; teachers are a school’s most ‘valuable’ resource, and they have far more affect on your children than any other facet of school life.

The success of our pupils has drawn more and more families into our school community.We are very excited about the possibility of becoming a teaching school; we will be able to recruit and train the strongest graduates, establishing us as a hub for the highest standards of teaching and learning.

Toot Hill School is just that; the hub at the centre of these developments. We have  built capacity within Toot Hill School before we have extended our ‘boundaries’, to ensure the hub is protected and only benefits from these developments, while aiming to improve the life chances of a greater number of children.
