SpongeBob SquarePants is a yellow sea sponge who lives under the ocean in Bikini

Bottom. He happy co-exists with his pet snail, Gary, in their pinapple-shpaed house. He works at the Krusty Krab for Mr. Krabbs. SpongeBob’s primary role in his community

is to have fun while educating young adults in various life and marine biology

lessons.

The novel is located primarily under the sea and so the song “Under the Sea” by Samuel E. Wright fits well. In the lyrics, multiple underwater characters sing and take part in the music much like SpongeBob and his friends act together in the novel. Also, references are made to different organisms (i.e. crustaceans, and snails) that are main characters in the SpongeBob novel.

Bikini Bottom is the primary setting for this novel

because it’s the location where SpongeBob lives and where most

antics happen. Within Bikini Bottom is the Palace of Pranks, Krusty Krab,

and SpongeBob’s street (Conch Street) to name a few of the

additional locations that SpongeBob and his friends frequent

within Bikini Bottom.
