WORD’S FROM THE PASTOR
I am sure you have noticed that the Touching Tomorrow Today stewardship campaign is coming along very well. In fact, although we are only in the sixth month of this $4 million campaign and we have already almost received $1 million in offerings. That is awesome, to God be the Glory. Our architects are diligently working on developing blueprints and construction documents. In two or three months, these plans will be finalized and then they will be presented to the church at that time.
During our Sunday evening worship services, we are participating in Henry Blackaby’s study, “Your Church Experiencing God Together”. If you are not in the habit of attending Sunday evening service, let me encourage you to come and to be a part of the final weeks of this Bible study series.
The 2014 year is rapidly coming to an end. However, we still have a few weeks left. Let’s all finish the year strong and faithful for the Glory of God. I know we are entering a very busy time of the year, but please remain faithful throughout 2014 in your attendance, giving, prayers, witnessing, Bible study, and participation.
I love each one of you. Have a great week. And I am looking forward to seeing you this coming Lord’s Day.

First United Methodist Church We will take vans for those who need a ride.
We are rapidly approaching the Thanksgiving Holiday. It is a great time of the year where we enjoy much cooler weather along with the beauty of the changing colors of the leaves. In the beauty of the season I am reminded of what the author of Nehemiah wrote in chapter 9 verse 6; "You alone are the LORD You have made the heavens, The heaven of heavens with all their host, The earth and all that is on it, The seas and all that is in them You give life to all of them And the heavenly host bows down before You”. We have much for which to be thankful. In the busyness of our lives we find ourselves enjoying the creation without being thankful to the Creator. Perhaps through this season of Thanksgiving we can first of all express our gratitude to our Creator and Lord. Not only is He the Creator of life but He is also the Sustainer life. We should also share our thanks with family and friends. This includes your church family. This would be a wonderful time for you to express your gratitude with the many volunteer church leaders in our church family. These leaders are so vital to
the ministry. Take some time to personally thank the workers and volunteers that are so faithful in their service.

I hope you will participate in Operation Christmas Child this year.
Operation Christmas Child is a wonderful opportunity to spread
the love of Jesus throughout the world without ever leaving
Henderson! Samaritan’s Purse, the organization that sponsors
Operation Christmas Child, has collected and delivered more than
113 million shoeboxes to children in over 150 countries since 1993.
Their goal for 2014 is to deliver 10 million shoeboxes, and we want
to help them reach that goal!
Boxes and labels are provided in the mall area, or you are
welcome to use your own! There are also instructions on how to pack a box. Please include $7 in each
box to cover shipping. Checks should be made out to Samaritan’s Purse.
Last year, First Baptist Henderson collected just over 300 boxes. I think we can do even more this year!!
I challenge us as a church to collect 350 shoeboxes. We can do it!! I
know we can!!
Be sure to bring your packed shoebox to the church no later than Sunday,
November 16. We will have a special prayer over the boxes that morning.
Thank you for participating in this wonderful opportunity to impact little
lives for Jesus half a world away.
Are you willing to help in Children’s
Church (1st Sunday of each month)
once or twice a year?
No preparation needed…
just willing hearts and hands.
Contact Miriam to volunteer!
McCarter Scholarship Committee,
Thank you so much for awarding me the McCarter Scholarship. Because of y’all’s generosity, I have been able to succeed at Texas A&M
University. I would be where I am without this. I greatly appreciate the donation.
Sincerely,
Adam Head
Dear McCarter Scholarship Committee,
Thank you so much for the scholarship. This money is a very big blessing that will help a lot while I’m at Dallas Baptist University. Your
continued prayer support is greatly appreciated.
Thank you,
Kale Buckner
Dear FBC-Henderson,
Our mother was blessed to be a part of this church or over 50 years. Your love and kindness helped sustain our family at a most difficult
time. We cannot thank you enough for the prayers, visits, food, etc. We have been overwhelmed with your many expressions of sympathy
and support. We pray for God’s richest blessings for your amazing church.
With gratitude,
The Family of Marilyn Lofton
Dear First Baptist Church Family,
Thank you so much for the blessing of the McCarter Scholarship. I am so thankful to have your support and love, and am so grateful for
your generosity. I am so appreciative of all the prayers and countless other things y’all have done for me during my time at Texas A&M.
I am so glad to have a church family like y’all supporting me as I graduate and go to seminary, and I can’t tell you enough how much that
encourages me. God has used all y’all to shape me and give me a hope in Him when worldly things are fleeting around me. I appreciate
your continual prayers and support!
God Bless,
Michael Acres
Dear First Baptist Family and John McCarter Scholarship Committee,
I cannot thank you enough for supporting and investing in me and all that God is doing through me by awarding me with scholarship money
towards my degree that I am pursuing through Fuller Theological Seminary. I consider myself abundantly blessed to be surrounded with such
and amazing church family that will get behind and support the work God is doing both in and through me. I have strengthened, stretched,
stirred and enriched by my courses and love the direction God is taking me. Thanks for joining me in the journey!

Of the 100 midwife kits that are being prepared right now to be taken to Pakistan next year, the first 23 of them went to Bangladesh in October. This project is in connection with our church's Strategic Missions Partnerships both with Pak Mission Society (of Pakistan) and Gospel For Muslims (working in Bangladesh). Two nurses of our church, Melba Wilkerson and Bettye Scarborough, are assembling the following items in each kit: a disposable waterproof pad, a 4 oz. bar of Dial soap, a sterile knife handle with #10 knife blade attached, a cord clamp or surgical suture, two disposable gloves, a washcloth, and two flannel baby receiving blankets. The washcloths and blankets are being sewn by Jackie Powell, Kim Powell, Carolyn Parker, Eva Davison, Betty Johnson, Ann Waller, Shelly Smith, Ethel Mae Mullins, and Delores Winfrey. Pakistan has the highest infant and maternal mortality rates in the world, and fewer than half of women have a skilled heath worker present at birth. In a region of Pakistan where an open presentation of the gospel cannot be given, these midwife kits will be witness-es of Christ's love for mothers and their babies.
If you would like to share in the $700 cost of the
supplies for these 100 midwife kits, please contact
Pat Blevins.
