The QQEnglish handbook is designed for the students to

recognize their rights, duties and responsibilities as

individuals. It outlines the standard that the company

holds in observance of high academic, social and moral

expectation.

This is also a guide for the students to the policies and

procedures of the company. In this handbook, students will

find varied and great resources that can help him/her find

advice and make good choices.

Ⅰ. General Rules and Guidelines Office 1) Always bring your ID for identification purposes. 2) Observe appropriate dress code upon entering the building.

Food and drink 1) Bringing food or drinks on the 7th floor is not allowed.(You may

bring water in containers with lids.) 2) Eat at the café. 3) Clean up the table and put the tray on the tray rack after eating. 4) Dispose trash properly in the trash bin. 5) Students may use their ID if they want to buy some snacks at the

café.

※Amount loaded can no longer be refunded. Textbook and printing Ask the office staff on the 8th floor if you want to print some personal documents. A minimal fee applies for printing. Black-and-white copies for A4 size sheet is 5.00php per page. ※ Do not ask the teacher to print it for you. Teachers print handouts to be used in the class only.

Internet Internet is free of charge. It is intended for e-mail and web browsing only. Please do not share or download any software. Prohibition 1) Business-solicitation is strictly prohibited. 2) Private tutorial lesson is not allowed. If a teacher offers you to have a private a lesson, please inform our staff immediately. 3) Students are advised not to go out with teachers. Class 1) A student who is more than 15 minutes late forfeits the lesson. 2) Participate actively in class. 3) If you want to be absent from a class, please inform the staff.

VISA AND EXTENSION FEE *THINGS NEED TO REMEMBER:

Basic Rules: =Upon arrival at the airport you will have a stamp in your passport having a 30-day(59 days for Taiwanese ,Chinese and Thai students )free stay here in the Philippines.

=the school will ask for the payment for SSP (Special Study Permit). The SSP costs 6,500 php. -SSP’s validity depends on how long the student’s stay at school to study. If the student plans to transfer to another school, he/she will pay for the SSP again. -However, if the student graduated in one school and returned to his/her country and decides to come back here in the Philippines to study in the same school, the student doesn’t need to pay for the SSP again.

*For Japanese, Korean, and Russian students VISA EXTENSION FEE’S(Japanese, Korean, and Russian)

To all students: Note 2: The penalty of expired visa is php 1,010- per month. Note 3: If the student plans to extend his/her visa, always inform the person-in-charge 10 days before the expiry date or at least one (1) week. Note 4: Whenever the student needs the passport for any purposes, please understand that sometimes we cannot give the passport right away because your passport is being processed in the Bureau of Immigration Office for your SSP.

ACR CARD -An ACR I- CARD is a microchip- based credit card- sized issued to registered aliens replacing the paper based ACR. It has an embedded computer chip with biometric security features capable of data management and can be updated electronically. -All foreign nationals under immigrant and non- immigrant visas including Temporary Visitor’s Visa who stayed here for more than fifty nine (59) days in the Philippines are required to apply for an ACR I- Card. -I Card is valid only for one (1) year.

ECC or EMIGRATION CLEARANCE CERTIFICATE - People who are ACR I- Card holders, temporary visitors who have stayed for more than six (6) months in the Philippines - Or simply, students who is leaving the Philippines after six (6) months. - A foreign national may apply for an ECC at least 2 weeks prior

to his/ her departure to the Philippines. - The ECC is only valid only for one (1) month from the date of issue. However, you may only use this one regardless of its validity. - After taking the 6 months and you decided to leave the country he needs to pay the ECC for about seven hundred (700) php.

How To Get A Police Report Go to the nearest police station and secure a police report/ blotter. 1) Go to Cebu City hall near St. Niño Church. Proceed to the second

level of Cebu City hall then get a priority number from the priority number machine.

2) The priority number machine has three buttons, press M

(Miscellaneous) which is the category of POLICE REPORT. Get a priority number and wait for your turn. Make sure to inform the staff of your main concern of getting the POLICE REPORT only as there are three kinds of applicable services available.

3) You'll know if it's your turn to process your POLICE REPORT when

your priority number will be displayed on an electric signboard. Once your number is displayed, go to the counter and pay for the service charge of 45 pesos in compliance with POLICE REPORT.

4) Once you're done and you have already the receipt, go to the police

station corresponding to foreign complainants located on the left outside of the CEBU CITY HALL , and do not forget to bring a photocopy of your passport upon claiming your POLICE REPORT.

Note: The student must register their names before the class starts. Students who have perfect attendance in Night Group Class will be given online points (50points/ 1 week) after they graduated.

PLACEMENT TEST

A test is given to each QQEnglish Offline student before they start their course. This is to check the student’s level of English and to inquire their purpose of studying English. This examination determines what suitable curricula the student will take.

PROGRESS TEST

*Every four weeks of stay or at the end of the course, the student takes an exam to determine his/her English level.

*Schedule of the progress test is posted on the bulletin board. *Once the student has improved his/her English level, his/her classes we will be changed on the newly-acquired level based on the recent progress test result.

Ⅲ. Offline Policies LATES AND ABSENCES *Attendance is a must. *In case of any absences, the student must inform or call the office. *In case of late, the student is only allowed to be late for 15 minutes. Beyond 15 minutes the student is considered absent.

RULES FOR CHANGING TEACHERS *Filing for class change is on Wednesday and Thursday. Last filing will be entertained until 5pm ONLY.

*THERE is NO MORE FILING ON FRIDAYS. *The Student can only change his/her class during his/her second week of stay and with a valid reason.

*If the student wants to change his/her teacher/s due to some complaints, class observation will be done by the QC team before approving for a class change.

* The student has his/her new class/es on Monday the following week. *Teachers will be informed by the management if they have a new class (transferee) or if the student changed his/her class/es. DEADLINE FOR CHANGING OF CLASSES *Once the student decided to change his/her teacher, he/she should fill up a class change slip from Wednesday to Thursday until 5pm.

*The student must go to the Student Affairs Officer to select a new teacher.

*The student will have a class with their new teacher the following week.

RULES FOR CHANGING OF BOOKS *The student may request for curriculum change when he/she thinks that the curriculum is not suitable for his/her English level.

*Request for changing of curriculum will only be entertained from Monday to Thursday ONLY.

Extension *If a student would like to extend their stay, they should remind the staff two weeks before their graduation. *If a one-week student would like to extend, they should inform the staff on Wednesday before they graduate.

*If the student fails to comply with this policy, they will be asked to pay 2,000php before they can be permitted to extend. CLASS SUBSTITUTION *If the teacher is absent, the management will provide the student a substitute teacher.

*Student should stay in the main teacher’s room. *Inform the admin office if the substitute teacher hasn’t arrived in 5 minutes.

ENGLISH POLICY *Students are encouraged to speak in English at all times. *Speaking in English inside and outside the class can greatly improve student’s fluency.

TEACHER'S EVALUATION

Class Survey

*The Management will be distributing a survey form to all students to gather any concerns. *The survey form will be distributed every week by our Q-friends and the student may drop the survey form in the suggestion box at front desk.

Teacher’s evaluation

*Management would like to assess the performance of our teachers and we will be asking the students to help us. * Every month, our Q-Friends will be distributing teacher’s evaluation sheet to students to evaluate their teacher’s performance.

Class Observation

*Observation will be conducted monthly by the QC (Quality Control) Team to assess and ensure the quality of teaching.

ID CARD *New students will be given a temporary ID card in their first few days in QQE.

*On the first day, the student will have their pictures taken for their permanent ID.

*Permanent IDs will be given to the students once they are available. *Students can load a credit in their IDs at the Accounting department. Note: If the student’s temporary ID card still has a credit, please inform our staff so we can transfer the credit to your Permanent ID card. Hospitals *In case of any serious health problems, the students are advised to ask assistance from our staff depending on their nationalities upon consultation or hospital admission.

* All students regardless of their nationality are welcome to ask for an assistance from Japanese help desk.

* In case of health concerns, students may see our doctor on the 7th floor at room A10 every Tuesdays and Thursdays from 2:00 – 4:00 PM. (First come, first-served basis policy is observed for medical consultation)

Q-Friend *Q-friends are students’ advisers or consultants. They entertain students’concerns.

*Students are given schedules to meet their Q-friends for consultation.

Ⅳ. Dormitory Guidelines Obligation People who use the house should recognize that it is a community life and there are other occupants around. We have to follow the rules. If anyone violates the rules, the security guard has the right to reprimand the person/people involved. Offense If anyone created an unacceptable behavior, proper disciplinary action will be given.

First offense --- Verbal Warning. Second offense ---- Dismissal or will be asked to leave the school

without any refund.

1) Don’t make too much noise from 10pm to 9am the next day when listening to music, or playing musical instruments, when using computers/laptops or even chatting with friends.

2) Don‘t keep public equipment inside your room, such as desk, chair, pot etc.

3) Don‘t make any changes inside your room such as driving nails on the walls, beds or other furniture. Don’t write anything on the walls.

4) Cooking of food must only be done in the kitchen. 5) Don‘t throw toilet paper and any other objects in the toilet bowl

to prevent from blockage. 6) Don’t disturb other tenants or neighbors. Failure to follow the

said rule will be given a proper sanction. 7) Don’t leave fresh fruits/vegetables and snacks unsealed from its

package, as it may invite ants, flies and other insects to get in. 8) No drinking inside or outside the dormitory area after 10pm. However,

you can go to some drinking pubs around IT Park. 9) Everybody is encouraged to go inside their respective houses or

inside their rooms after 10pm. However, if you want to continue hanging out, you can go to other places around Cebu City area.

10) Students who moved rooms without permission will be penalized and shall be charged of an additional fee.

11) We banned students from entering the rooms of the opposite sex. Students caught breaking this rule will be expelled from the school.

If the manager decides that it’s a serious offense, the student might have to leave the house. When any of the following on the list is violated, the student is advised to leave the house without further warning: 1) Bringing of opposite gender inside the house. 2) Bringing or inviting of friends who aren’t occupants in Park Vista

house. 3) Using of beds in other rooms without permission. 4) Smoking inside the house. 5) Bringing of illegal items such as drugs like marijuana, and explosive

items. 6) Raising and feeding of pets such as dogs, cats and other small animals

like fish. 7) Physical violence and gambling. 8) Discrimination of other people’s background like race and religion

through physical or verbal statements which make other people feel uncomfortable.

Authority of QQEnglish staff QQEnglish staff enters in your room only when there is a need of inspection and check-up.

Curfew As no curfew is set, please be responsible of yourself when coming back late especially after 10pm. Please be considerate with the other neighborhood.

Bulletin Board Keep posted on any information and updates on the house board.

Check in & Check out of the house

1) Check in When checking in the house, you will be checking in together with some staff members. Upon checking in please confirm if there are some damaged facilities or not. If you notice that there are some damaged things, contact the staff as soon as possible. We appreciate if you would inform the management when you wish to transfer another dormitory.

2) Check out

Upon checking out, please check the following: Desk light, laundry basket, extension cord, or any valuable things inside the room. Return the room key to the staff. The student must check out from the dormitory at 12:00 noon on Saturday.

3) Extension

If the student wants to stay in the dormitory for another night, they should inform the staff one or two weeks before they check out. They shall be charged with the following amount:

Single room: 700php Twin room: 600php Quad room: 500php

Room key 1) We give keys for the entrance door and bedroom. 2) When you go out, please bring your keys all the time and don’t forget

to lock both doors. 3) If you accidentally lock your door and your keys are inside your

room, please borrow a key from the staff at school. *Please borrow a key from a manager except school days.

4) When you lost your key or break the doorknob, we will get 1000php as a repair fee from your deposit. *We can only entertain the problem between10:00~20:00.

Precaution against theft and robbery 1) Please be mindful of your valuable things. Please use the safety

box in the school, or keep your valuables inside your baggage with a lock.

2) Please lock the doors especially the entrance as it may be the cause of robbery or things might be stolen.

3) The management isn’t liable for any damages and loss inside the house.

Equipment 1) If any broken equipment needs to be fixed or changed, ask assistance

from the staff on duty. 2) If someone broke any equipment such as light switch, beds, air

conditioner, window, door, etc, the management shall ask for a repair fee.

Usage of Common Areas 1) Always keep things in proper order. Return the tableware and

kitchenware to their original place after use. Turn off all household appliances when not in use.

2) Always have your own basket to keep your food in the refrigerator. Stick or write your name on the food that you place in the refrigerator. QQE Staff checks the fridge from time to time and throw away all expired/ rotten food. They are not healthy to eat.

3) Take care of your belongings. The school is not responsible for any loss.

4) Personal belongings that are place in common areas such as kitchen, corridor or entrance will be thrown away.

5) Shoes are not allowed inside the dormitory. Bring your own slippers.

6) Place your shoes in the shoe rack. 7) Always keep your room clean as well as the common areas. Room Cleaning 1) Clean your room by yourself. 2) Room cleaning only includes changing the bed sheets. 3) Put the garbage box in front of the room. The housekeeper collects

the garbage and disposes it. Laundry 1) Wash one’s clothes with the washing machine provided in each house. 2) Use the clothes line in front of the house to hang or to dry one’s

clothes. 3) Dry your underwear inside your room. 4) Students are advised not to bring any expensive or delicate clothes

because the water and detergent are stronger here. Colored clothes may change or fade easily.

Garbage Disposal 1) Be responsible in segregating the biodegradable and the

non-biodegradable garbage. 2) Information for garbage segregation is posted on the information

board in the house. 3) Don‘t throw or leave any leftovers inside your room because it

attracts ants to get in. Usage of Toilet 1) Each house is equipped with hot shower facilities. Staff explains

how to use it. 2) Do understand that the water pressure is not that strong so it will

take time for the water to come out. 3) The shower room is shared by many so please be mindful of another

user. Clean up your mess (ex. Pick up some falling hair) before leaving the place.

4) Press/Push the button or lever of the toilet bowl longer to flush. 5) Conserve water and electricity. 6) Do not wear a bath towel, underwear or naked in front of other users

or when going to an area shared by many. 7) Please understand that some rooms have parallel electric sockets

with the bed.

Internet Internet is free but we can’t assure a good connection all the time. Winy, Share, Torrent software are prohibited.

Fire prevention 1) No smoking inside the dormitory. Please use the smoking area. 2) Unplug devices/appliances before going out.

Water and power failure 1) Store water in plastic bottles in case of emergency. 2) Always keep a flashlight in your room for emergency use.

Safety 1) Exit doors are provided for emergency purposes. 2) Garbage must be put in a proper place not at the entrance, corridor

or stairs. 3) Always keep the door locked when going out to avoid break-in. 4) Be sure to contact the school or any staff when there is an emergency. 5) Contact Number: 032-479-9411

Attention

・When riding a taxi, please always remember to lock both and check if the taxi driver is using a taxi meter. Never ride a taxi without a taxi meter; they might charge you high. When traveling to the airport or to a beach resort, Please check or confirm if the meter is working during the time of travel. There is no additional charge when going to the airport or beach resort. Always pay the exact amount stated in the meter. Always tell the driver to use the meter and no additional charge beforehand. If the taxi driver insists, get off from the taxi and ride another one. There are always a lot of available taxis for you to ride. In addition, don’t pay large amount of money like 1,000 or 500 Pesos. They usually don't have change for that sum of money. Instead prepare two or three pieces of 100 pesos bills before going to your destination and going back.

・There have been some incidents where an armed man threatened to steal something

from people by forced using knife, ice pick, gun or any deadly weapon. In case this situation happens to you, please give your things immediately to avoid harm. Places which are prone to these incidents are in the dark alleys of the downtown area. If possible always bring a few things with you and don't bring large amount of cash.

・There are some incidents where some people lose their baggage while eating

in a restaurant. The victims usually put their baggage under the chair and when they are unaware the theft usually steal the baggage. Be mindful of your baggage when eating in a restaurant and always keep an eye on your things. Don’t carry a lot of baggage.

・There has been an incident when a Japanese guy talked to a woman in a shopping

mall. The woman invited the Japanese guy to a café to have a small talk about Japan, how to win in a casino, where to buy groceries and she finally invited him to her house. She then offered a drink with a sleeping drug and stole his baggage. Please be mindful when talking to strangers.

・There is a technique called card fraud which is prevalent. At first, they

let you win and after they make you lose a lot. They force you to go to an ATM to borrow money by credit card. Never trust anyone even if it’s Japanese and never do any home visits.

Ⅴ. Meal pass ・Students who have a meal pass can have their meals at QQ Cafe. Each

date has three circular shapes which corresponds the three meals, breakfast, lunch and dinner. The student has to present the meal pass to the QQ Cafe staff and they put a mark whenever you have your meal.

・If the student lost the meal pass, the management will not give a

new one. New student should go to the front desk to get the meal pass.

・Students who don't have the meal pass may buy for a week which costs

2,500php. Please see the staff on duty for inquiries.
