NATIONAL TRENDS: 45% of college bound high school students are choosing to begin their

education at community colleges. This number has been on the rise since 2010.

AVERAGE COST: Affordability is a benefit to choosing community college. The average tuition

cost per year is $1,600 (CA resident) and $9,500 (out-of-state resident) at Feather River College. Comparing

that to the average public four-year cost of $12,000 and private four-year cost of $31,000 under similar

academic loads. It is obvious why enrollment in community colleges is increasing by the year.

Financial assistance: Just like any other college or university, there are several

opportunities for financial aid. We offer grants, as well as loans to cover the cost of schooling. In addition,

California residents attending college will be granted a tuition waiver through the California College Promise

Grant.

MISSION STATEMENT:

The Feather River Football Program shares a vested interest in accomplishing two distinct

goals: 1.) To build a MAN who is responsible for himself and the wellbeing of others 2.)

To see you graduate from Feather River College with an AA degree and transfer to a 4

year college/university.

Our football program strives for success on and off the field. Our student-athletes

are expected to take an active role in their success in the classroom. As a staff we will

help each individual achieve this by providing ample support in their pursuit of

success.

OUR ATHLETES ARE PROVIDED THE FOLLOWING RESOURCES TO

MONITOR AND ASSIST IN THEIR SUCCESS:

ATHLETIC ADVISOR: Our academic advisor within the football program will gather relevant

academic information and build a portfolio on each student-athlete, assessing his needs prior to class

registration. Class history, transfer hours, NCAA eligibility guidelines and degree checks are all incorporated.

MANDATORY STUDY HALL: A model employed throughout the athletic department,

each student-athlete is required to attend 3 hours of monitored study hall a week administered by the coaching

staff.

TUTORING: Free to students, the Learning Resource Center and TRiO Program ensure our student-

athletes have the necessary resources for academic success. Our academic support staff will arrange for tutoring

and provide student-athletes with course specific instruction in needed areas.

GRADE CHECKS: Twice per semester, athletes are required to complete a grade check for all their

classes. This is submitted to our academic advisors and they are able to identify classes in need of improvement.

COMMUNICATION W/ INSTRUCTORS: We have developed and maintained

strong relationships with all instructors. The instructors help notify us when any issues may arise so our

academic team can address areas of concern. Small class sizes also help ensure academic success.

Head Football Coach

Coach Goulet came to Feather River College prior to the

2017 season. In two seasons, he has guided the Feather

River Football program from the worst in the state to a level

of respectability. The Bay Area native, who is also a product

of the California junior college system, is entering his thritenth season at the college level and

fiftenth overall.

Since Goulet’s arrival, FRC has seen its win total increase in each season following a winless

campaign in 2016. In 2018, Feather River won a home contest for the first time in three years

when they beat College of Sequoias 41-6 to open the season. In that time, ten players have been

named All Nor-Call Conference players and all seventeen sophomores received scholarship

offers concluding the 2017 season.

Prior to coming to Quincy, Coach Goulet was the Offensive Coordinator at Chabot College in

Hayward, CA for ten seasons. While at Chabot, the team set 30 offensive records, won 5

Conference Championships, had 6 bowl game appearances, was the 2013 Central Division

Champions, and participated in the 2014 and 2015 CCCAA State Playoffs. Coach Goulet’s

2015 scoring offense was ranked #2 in the state with 48 PPG and #4 offense overall (471 YPG).

He’s coached 7 All Conference Quarterbacks, 4 Conference MVP’s, and 3 All State

Quarterbacks.

Goulet’s playing career began at Chabot College and then transferred to Mayville State

Universtiy in North Dakota where he was a two year starter, team captain, and a two time

Academic All Conference player. At Mayville, he received a Bachelor of Science degree as a

double major in Physical Education and Sport Management. Goulet also earned his Master of

Arts in Kinesiology from Saint Mary’s College in Moraga, CA.

Goulet resides in Graeagle with his wife Barbara and their daughter Adrian.

ROSTER

THE FEATHER RIVER FOOTBALL PROGRAM HAD OVER 100 GOLDEN EAGLES FROM 18 DIFFERENT STATES IN 2018.

THE FOUNDATION OF THE PROGRAM ARE THE ATHLETES FROM CALIFORNIA AND NEVADA. THUS, IT IS

IMPORTANT THAT WE GET THE BEST ATHLETES FROM THOSE STATES. HOWEVER, RECRUITING THE TOP TALENT

FROM ACROSS THE NATION AS WELL WILL ENSURE THAT YOU ARE COMPETING AGAINST TOP ATHLETES FROM

AROUND THE COUNTRY. THIS WILL HELP DRIVE PLAYER DEVELOPMENT AS WELL AS RECRUITMENT.

2018 ROSTER = 102 PLAYERS

CALIFORNIA / NEVADA = 52 PLAYERS

16 REMAINING STATES = 50 PLAYERS

California Community College football is the most competitive in the country. Nearly every

year, the California state champion is named either national or co-national champion by

various media and associated press. Within the CCCAA, the Nor-Cal Division is widely

regarded as the toughest in the state. It is one of the only conference in Northern California

to have multiple teams participate in the state playoffs in multiple years. Feather River has

been an active member of the Nor-Cal Division since its inception and looks to continue its

run of fierce competition against some of the state’s elite. As we build for the future, we look

to make an impact in the state of California and the California Community College Athletic

Association.

In the past two years since Coach Goulet and his staff have been in Quincy, the FRC Football program has

seen numerous student athletes transfer to every division in college football. This placement success is a

testament to both athletic and academic accomplishments. Immediately following the 2017 season, six

FRC players signed athletic scholarships to DI and DII institutions during the early signing period and will

begin attending school in January. Below are some of the DI/DII transfers during the last calendar year.

STUDENT HOUSING

ONE OF FEW CALIFORNIA JUNIOR COLLEGES THAT OFFERS STUDENT HOUSING ON CAMPUS, FRC CAN ACCOMMODATE THE

NEEDS OF STUDENT-ATHLETES FROM OUT OF THE AREA. ALL OF OUR ATHLETES LIVE IN TWO OF OUR THREE HOUSING

OPTIONS; EITHER MAIN CAMPUS OR THE PINES.

‘MAIN CAMPUS’ PROVIDES ONE AND TWO BEDROOM APARTMENT STYLE DORMS WITH FULL BATHROOM AND KITCHEN IN

EACH UNIT. THE ‘PINES’ DORM FACILITY HOUSES TRADITIONAL STYLE DORM ROOMS, BUT IS THE NEWER OF THE TWO

FACILITIES OPENING FOR STUDENT HOUSING IN THE FALL OF 2017. THE ‘PINES’ IS LOCATED JUST OFF CAMPUS, YET

STUDENTS HAVE ACCESS TO PLUMAS TRANSIT FOR FREE WITH SCHOOL ID. BOTH FACILITIES ARE EQUIPPED WITH WIRELESS

INTERNET, CABLE TV, AND LAUNDRY FACILITIES.

Reno/sparks, Nevada

THE RENO-SPARKS METROPOLITAN AREA (POPULATION 464,593) IS LOCATED APPROXIMATELY 80 MILES FROM

CAMPUS AND APPROXIMATELY 40 MILES FROM HISTORIC LAKE TAHOE. THIS AFFORDS OUR ATHLETES

QUALITY LEISURE TIME AND ALSO ASSISTS IN RECRUITING. HAVING AN AIRPORT A LITTLE OVER AN HOUR

AWAY ALLOWS FOR EASY ACCESS FOR BOTH RECRUITERS AND ATHLETES. IT PROVES TO PROVIDE GREAT

OPPORTUNITIES FOR OUR ATHLETES TO EXPERIENCE WHAT THE RENO AREA HAS TO OFFER. THIS DISTANCE

ALLOWS US TO TRAVEL TO THE CONVIENIENCES OF CITY LIFE WHILE BEING TUCKED AWAY IN THE REMOTE

TRANQUILITY OF QUINCY, CA.
