FUNERAL In the event of a death, please contact the parish office or priest, as soon as possible. QUINCEAÑERA Contact the parish office 12 months before the planned date. The young woman should be attending Mass and Faith Formation classes, must have received the sacraments, should be involved in some ministry in the parish and will need to attend the classes and retreat that are held for the quinceañeras. New Parishioners and anyone over 21 years of age should register at the Parish Office. Your registration card will be entered in to our parish data base only after you attend the weekend Mass and use your contribution envelopes. Also please notify us if you change your address or if you move out of the parish.

Available in the church and in the office is a book that was purchased in bulk by a group of parishioners for their parish family. It is a book of the essen al teachings of Saint Moth‐er Teresa. Please if you have not picked up a copy for your‐self or your family, pick one up in the church or stop by the church office. The book is available both places.  

We received some addi onal copies of the Sunday Missal for 2021. These are only $4.00 each and are good un l the First Sunday of Advent 2021. If you would like to have your own missal for the year, please stop by the office and we will be happy to help.

Today, we celebrate the Bap sm of the Lord!  The origin and founda on of Chris an Bap sm is Jesus. Before star ng his public ministry, Jesus submi ed himself to the bap sm given by John the Bap st. The waters did not purify him; he cleansed the waters. “He comes to sanc fy the Jordan for our sake . . . to begin a new crea on through the Spirit and water” (St. Gregory Nazianzen, Liturgy of the Hours, I, 634). Jesus’ immersion in the water is a sign for all human beings of the need to die to themselves to do God’s will. Jesus did not need to be bap zed because he was totally faithful to the will of his Father and free from sin. However, he wanted to show his solidarity with human beings in order to reconcile them to the Father. By commanding his disciples to bap ze all na ons, he established the means by which people would die to sin—Original and actual—and begin to live a new life with God.

¡Hoy celebramos el Bau smo del Señor! El origen y fundamento del bau smo cris ano es Jesús. Antes de comenzar su ministerio público, Jesús se some ó al bau smo dado por Juan el Bau sta. Las aguas no lo purificaron; limpió las aguas. “Viene a san ficar el Jordán por nuestro bien. . . para comenzar una nueva creación por el Espíritu y el agua ”(San Gregorio Nacianceno, Liturgia de las Horas, I, 634). La inmersión de Jesús en el agua es una señal para todos los seres humanos de la necesidad de morir a sí mismos para hacer la voluntad de Dios. Jesús no necesitaba ser bau zado porque era totalmente fiel a la voluntad de su Padre y estaba libre de pecado. Sin embargo, quiso mostrar su solidaridad con los seres humanos para reconciliarlos con el Padre. Al ordenar a sus discípulos que bau zaran a todas las naciones, estableció los medios por los cuales la gente moriría al pecado —Original y actual— y comenzaría a vivir una nueva vida con Dios.
