The approach allows individual participants

Most organisations vision themselves to have dynamic manpower that values and contributes to the growth and development of the organisation. What does it mean to add a strengths perspective? The philosophical underpinnings of the strengths perspective are a combination of naive realism and pragmatism. That is to say, we believe that the strengths of individuals, groups and communities organisations are tangible, and that they can be assessed. We believe that these phenomena, at whatever level they occur, are not fig-ments of our imagination. Rather, they are grounded in the same world as we encounter and experience them. Strengths Based Practitioners also believe that the knowledge claims of the strengths perspective can be tested and used in the real world with actual and sometimes predictable outcomes.

♦ to move from the present and explicit situations to the absent but implicit state of thinking.

♦ to move from assumed intentions to actions and consequent effects ♦ To move from scapegoating and blaming to responsibility and last but

Strengths-Based Practices (SbPs) concentrates on the inherent strengths of individuals, families groups and organisations deploying peoples' personal strengths in assisting their recovery and empowerment. SbPs are empowering alternatives to traditional methods with individuals, group or organizational work. SbPs refrain from allowing usage of any negative language or descriptions. The premise allows us to see people with their intrinsic strengths. Seeing ourselves as hopeful able to cause, affect and see change makes a big difference to our lives, our teams, our organizations . Strengths based strategies build and foster hope from within by focusing and working with precedent successes making it important for facilitators and those desiring change to be integral to this process of change.

Genuine motivation, alignment and ‘thrive’ as factors are responsible for sense of purpose and sense of direction in organisations.

How do we build this? What opportunities are presented to us day in and day out?

Why should you attend this training? A lead Question to ask: ‘Are you leading an optimistic team that is productive and creative, within the organisation and in their life outside of work?’ Even if you aren't leading a team that is vibrant at the moment, you have an opportunity to rejuvenate your world and that of others through our conversations in a day.

Principles of the Strengths Perspective

1. Every individual, group, Organisation and community has strengths The Strengths Perspective in essence focuses on identifying, mobilizing, and respecting the resources, assets, wisdom, and knowledge that every person, family, group, or community has, as well as their potential for transforming their experiences and lives.

2. Trauma and abuse, illness and struggle, may be injurious but they are sources of challenge and opportunity. True that some negative experiences bring you down. But if you know how to collect yourself and getup you will see only opportunities to growth and development In our approach we acknowledge individual, family, or communities grief and loss and pain. The Strengths Perspective recognises that for the most part of life, people face adversity, become resilient and resourceful and learn from their strategies to overcome adversity.

3. You do not know your upper limits of the capacity to grow and change. Bordering on Appreciative Inquiry traditions we take individual, group, and community aspirations seriously. Strengths Approach allows you to go beyond the assessment, diagnosis, or profile that has become a verdict or a sentence in their lives. While holding high expectations of our people we can work with their hopes, values, aspirations, and visions. This way we make an obvious deal with their promise and possibility.

4. We best serve customers and end users by collaborating with them. We are asked to approach clients customers and end users as a collaborator. (having specialized skills and experience to offer, but open to the wisdom, knowledge, and experience that they bring with them), In the Strengths Perspective, end user voices are heard and valued at all levels of change management. 5. All environments have resources In every society individuals, informal groups, associations, and institutions are willing to help others. There are resources, existing partnerships, and strengths available in the community that are

Managing change has always been a terrific process. If you ever sat in a beach watching the blue ocean waves you will know what I am talking about. They look different at different times. Much more pleasant if you were negotiating waves and balancing yourself while you surfed. A great feeling after you conquered them.

6. Caring and caretaking Human well-being in effect is related to caring. Facilitating, nurturing and ensuring that our members, our society and our organisations are caring, relates to building resilience and hope building in our society. The basic idea is to build organizations around what works. In the second part of the training we will be presenting Appreciative Inquiry Skills. AI approaches involve bringing very large, diverse groups of people together to study and build upon the best in an organization.

Appreciative Inquiry (AI) gives you an opportunity and a daring to dream. • To gain that special insight from your

unconscious mind and • To discover ideas and conceptions that you did not think of before. AI is concerned with the positives in everyone’s lives of ‘what works’. In other words, it seeks out the best of what already exists in individuals and organisations. As participants you are not sitting to pull apart the organisation, to rebuke one another or to dissect and produce blame games. You are there with Appreciative Inquiry to make beautiful images that bring people together. A challenging opportunity that dissolves resistance to change.

Applications AI has been used in both the corporate and social services development sectors. It has been instrumental in changing organizations, communities and individuals and can be used with few people to few hundreds in the organisation. Appreciative Inquiry is an approach that allows you to view your current world with its problems and obstacles and through constant analysis assists you to understand that your own system is pretty amazing, mysterious, extraordinarily nurturing. All you need is to believe and get behind your belief. In This 2 Day Training You will be purely exposed to behavioural skills and language that forms the basis of Strengths Based Practice, combined with the skills of actually utilising Appreciative Inquiry methodology.

To me Appreciative Inquiry is an art and the science of communication, a way of thinking, seeing things every day with a different perspective. It’s about becoming more purposeful if not powerful and affecting change in and around us and within the organizations. It is useful in a labouring system that you feel like snapping. Primal to this notion in Appreciative Inquiry is another important assumption that whatever you ideally desire, some semblance of it exists with the group, within the organisation.

Sarajevo Overview Bosnia and Herzegovina's fascinating capital Sarajevo nestles among dramatic peaks, a bustling and welcoming city. War took its toll, with the 1992-1996 siege hitting hard. But the lively, diverse, museum-rich city has been almost entirely reconstructed. Don't miss Bijambare caves, set in thick forests and amid lakes to the north of the city, or Bosna Springs, from which the country takes its name. Site of 1984's Winter Olympics, Sarajevo offers spectacular skiing on Mount Bjelasnica Jahorina.
