In order to make use of the Barcoding capability of MEX you will need the MEX iOS App and a Apple device. The MEX App can be downloaded from the App Store where you will need to connect it to the appropriate database. There are a number of areas in MEX that supports Barcoding, including the Asset Details and Catalogue Details. Once you have �lled in the barcodes for your relevant �elds, you can then begin using them to your advantage with a Bluetooth scanner or the camera of your device.

For the most e�ective Barcode Scanning we recommend using a Bluetooth scanner - like the Scanfob Bluetooth Scanners. Simply follow the manufacturer’s instructions to connect it to your iOS device. Once the scanner is connected via Bluetooth, you will be able to scan MEX barcodes while the iOS device is in a module that uses barcodes. You can use your device’s camera to scan barcodes however we recommend using a scanner as they are more e�ective & accurate.

Barcodes can be printed using the Stores Item Barcode Report and also from the Asset Barcodes Report. Label printing is inexpensive, so it’s best to �nd a label printer that has an automatic guillotine. This will save you a lot of time going through and manually cutting all the labels. We recommend using a Brother P-touch Label Printer as they are common and more cost e�ective. We also advise using yellow labels in order to distinguish internal barcodes from supplier codes.
