Definition, Focus & IntentStrategy Markup Language (StratML) ~ an

XML vocabulary and schema for strategic plans

Initial Focus ~ the strategic plans that U.S. federal agencies are required to compile and maintain under the Government Performance & Results Act (GPRA)

Intent ~ establish an international voluntary consensus standard (AIIM/ANSI/ISO) for potential use by all organizations worldwide

Page 3: Strategy Markup Language (StratML)

Prospective PurposesSharing, referencing,

indexing, discovery, linking, reuse, and analyses of the elements of strategic plans

Strategic alignment via literal linkages

Discovery of potential performance partners

Stakeholder feedback

Overcome the tendency of plans to become outdated "shelfware"

Reduce inconsistencies, and delays associated with "stovepipe" systems

Compliance with eGov Act stakeholder linkage requirement
