Strange Christians

1 Peter 2:9; 4:4; 4:12We are accused of being strange.

WE ARE!!!

1 Peter 2:9-10

9 But you are a chosen generation, a royal priesthood, a holy nation, His own special people, that you may proclaim the praises of Him who called you out of darkness into His marvelous light;

Peculiar (KJV) = different, special, unique

1 Peter 4:4, 12

4 In regard to these, they think it strange that you do not run with them in the same flood of dissipation, speaking evil of you.

12 Beloved, do not think it strange concerning the fiery trial which is to try you, as though some strange thing happened to you

We are Strange Because:

Believe what is Unbelievable Son of God Virgin Birth Eternal Atoning death Resurrection

Romans 10:8-9 8 But what does it say? "The word is near you, in your mouth and in your heart" (that is, the word of faith which we preach): 9 that if you confess with your mouth the Lord Jesus and believe in your heart that God has raised Him from the dead, you will be saved.

We are Strange Because:

Do what is Impossible Decides to be

born Chooses Father Selects family

Matthew 17:20-21 20 So Jesus said to them, "Because of your unbelief; for assuredly, I say to you, if you have faith as a mustard seed, you will say to this mountain, 'Move from here to there,' and it will move; and nothing will be impossible for you. 21 However, this kind does not go out except by prayer and fasting."

We are Strange Because:

Believe what is unbelievable

Do what is Impossible

Know the Unknowable Some things are

only known by revelation of God

1 Corinthians 2:9-10 9 But as it is written: "Eye has not seen, nor ear heard, Nor have entered into the heart of man The things which God has prepared for those who love Him." 10 But God has revealed them to us through His Spirit. For the Spirit searches all things, yes, the deep things of God.

1 Corinthians 2:11 For what man knows the things of a man except the spirit of the man which is in him? Even so no one knows the things of God except the Spirit of God.

Attain the Unattainable Righteousness Sinless perfection

See the Invisible

2 Corinthians 4:17-18 17 For our light affliction, which is but for a moment, is working for us a far more exceeding and eternal weight of glory, 18 while we do not look at the things which are seen, but at the things which are not seen. For the things which are seen are temporary, but the things which are not seen are eternal.
