PLOT or STORYLINE

Short definition: the events that make up a story, particularly: as they relate to one another in a pattern or in a sequence; as they relate to each other through cause and effect; how the reader views the story; or simply by coincidence.

In my own words: The flow of the story. My example: In a far away, long ago kingdom, Cinderella is living

happily with her mother and father until her mother dies. Cinderella's father remarries a cold, cruel woman who has two daughters, Drizella and Anastasia. When the father dies, Cinderella's wicked stepmother turns her into a virtual servant in her own house. Meanwhile, across town in the castle, the King determines that his son the Prince should find a suitable bride and provide him with a required number of grandchildren. So the King invites every eligible maiden in the kingdom to a fancy dress ball, where his son will be able to choose his bride. Cinderella has no suitable party dress for a ball, but her friends the mice, led by Jaques and Gus, and the birds lend a hand in making her one, a dress the evil stepsisters immediately tear apart on the evening of the ball. At this point, enter the Fairy Godmother, the pumpkin carriage, the royal ball, the stroke of midnight, the glass slipper, and the rest, as they say, is fairy tale history.

In my own words: rising action of a story is the series of events that begin immediately after the introduction of the story and builds up to the climax.

My example: The poor treatment of Cinderella, by her stepmother and stepsisters, the promise that she will be able to go to the ball, and the work she does to get to go. Then, she can’t go, but her fairy god mother helps her, and she gets to go to the ball. She meets the prince, they dance, and they fall, in love, but Cinderella has to run home leaving her shoe behind.

New concepts learned What new stuff did you learn when you did

this assignment?

I learn that storyline is very important in creating stories because it is not applicable that we first knew the resolution before the climax and of course it is not possible that resolution first before exposition.

NEW INPUTS1

Page 12: Story line and plot elements. argelle gonzales

This reminds me of… Connect the new stuff you learned to

events in your own life.

All of us conquers problem. But before we problematize our problems, of course first we commit mistakes because of the people who surrounds us, they influencing us good and bad attitudes until we hated each other because we can’t fight against them already but at the end by giving chance to each other, friendship will still hold us.

CONNECTIONS2

Page 13: Story line and plot elements. argelle gonzales

Usefulness in real situations How can you use what you have learned

in some situations in your own life?

First, think what you’ve thinking then problematize your problem then find out why you have problem then think of a solution to your problem then give it action.
