and circular stockpiles.

For decades now, Polysius systemsfor the economical and energy-sav-ing storage and blending of crushedand heapable bulk materials in open-air and roofed stores have proventhemselves admirably.

Harmonised stacking and reclaimingprocesses are essential for effectiveblending bed systems.

Whether for installation in the quarryor in the plant itself, the broad rangeof blending bed systems from Poly-sius satisfies all requirements for theefficient storage and blending of rawmaterials prior to further processing.

Controlled stockpile stacking isensured by the POLAB® CNA fromPolysius, a continuous raw materialanalyser whose results permit earlyquality control of the input materials.

Polysius stockpile applicationsinclude bauxite, ores, gypsum, limestone, coal, coke, petroleumcoke, clinker, slate, wood chips, clay, quartz and quartzitic rock.

For the on-line chemical analysis of raw materials, POLAB® CNA uses an

electronically regulated neutron tube thatcan be simply switched on and off.

POLAB® CNA determines the process-relevant oxide concentrations in the

entire stream of material passing the analyser, without requiring any

preparation of the material.

Polysius portal scrapers have spanwidths of up to 60 m and reclaiming

capacities of up to 1,500 tph.

The stockpile stacking control system from Polysius builds up stepped end faces, minimisingproblems with the end cones.

Polysius supplies suitable stacking and reclaim-ing machines for storage and for blending largequantities of bulk materials.

Automatically controlled belt stackers build up the stockpiles, which are generally arrangedin-line.

The highest mixing and blending effects areachieved by using bridge scrapers reclaimingfrom the end face of the stockpile. If only a low

degree of blending is required, the side face of the stockpile can be reclaimed, using semi-portal, portal or side scrapers.

The Chevron stacking method is used for longi-tudinal blending bed stockpiles.

The machines' wear-resistance and low main-tenance requirement assure high availability, even when operating under rough applicationconditions.

In the cement manufacturing process,it has become standard practice tostore lumpy raw materials in singleor multi-component blending beds.Polysius provides the engineeringand the mechanical equipment, including respective process schemes, for individual machines and systemsand for complete cement plants.

Circular stockpiles and circular blend-ing beds provide a high storagecapacity in relation to the floorspace.

Compared to the longitudinal blend-ing bed arrangement, the circularversion offers lower costs for the civilconstruction work, shorter conveyorsand smaller capital expenditure forthe machines and electrical equip-ment. The cost advantage of thecircular stockpile becomes still moresubstantial if it is accommodated in a roofed building.

The machines used for circular stock-piles and circular blending beds pro-

vide the same high availability andproven design features as the equip-ment used for longitudinal stockpilesand longitudinal blending beds.

The continuous Chevcon stackingmethod assures the highest possibleblending effect. However, if storagewith only a small blending effect isrequired, the cone-shell stackingmethod can be used.
