We believe in one God, the Father, the almighty, maker of heaven and earth,of all that is, seen and unseen.

We believe in one Lord Jesus Christ, the only Son of God, eternally begotten of the Father;God from God, Light from Light, true God from true God, begotten, not made, of one Being with the Father; through him all things were made. For us men and for salvation he came down from heaven,by the power of the Holy Spirithe became incarnate from the Virgin Mary, and was made man.

For our sake he was crucified under Pontius Pilate;he suffered death and was buried. On the third day he rose againin accordance with the Scriptures;he ascended into heavenand is seated at the right hand of the Father. He will come again in glory to judge the living and the dead, and his kingdom will have no end.

We all kneel or sit for the PRAYERSThese words may be used:

Rest eternal grant unto them O Lordand let light perpetual shine upon themThe following may be added:We join our prayers with those of Our Lady as we greet her and say:Hail Mary, full of grace, the Lord is with thee, blessed art thou amongst women and blessed is the fruit of thy womb Jesus. Holy Mary, Mother of God, pray for us sinners, now and at the hour of our death.

The Prayers end:Merciful Father, accept these prayersfor the sake of your Son, our Saviour Jesus Christ. Amen.

THE MINISTRY OF THE SACRAMENT

OFFERTORY

At the Lamb's high feast we singPraise to our victorious King:Who hath washed us in the tideFlowing from his piercèd side;Praise we him whose love divineGives the guests his blood for wine,Gives his body for the feast,Love the Victim, Love the Priest.

Where the Paschal blood is poured,Death's dark angel sheathes his sword;Israel's hosts triumphant goThrough the wave that drowns the foe.Christ, the Lamb whose blood was shed,Paschal victim, Paschal bread! With sincerity and loveEat we Manna from above.

Mighty Victim from on high,Powers of hell beneath thee lie;Death is broken in the fight,Thou hast brought us life and light. Now thy banner thou dost wave,Conquering Satan and the grave.See the prince of darkness quelled;Heaven's bright gates are open held.

As he offered His body on the Cross, His perfect sacrifice fulfilled all others. As he gave himself into your hands for our salvation, he showed himself to be the priest, the altar, and the Lamb of sacrifice. The joy of the resurrection renews the whole world while the angels and archangels and the whole company of heaven sing forever to your glory saying:Holy, holy, holy Lord, God of power and might, heaven and earth are full of your glory. Hosanna in the highest.Blessed is he who comes in the name of the Lord.Hosanna in the highest.

Lord, you are holy indeed, the source of all holiness; grant that by the power of your Holy Spirit, and according to your holy will, these gifts of bread and winemay become the body and bloodof our Lord Jesus Christ;who in the same night that he was betrayed, took bread and gave you thanks; he broke it and gave it to his disciples, saying:TAKE, EAT; THIS IS MY BODY WHICH IS GIVEN FOR YOU; DO THIS IN REMEMBRANCE OF ME.

In the same way, after supper he took the cup and gave you thanks; he gave it to them, saying:

DRINK THIS, ALL OF YOU; THIS IS MY BLOOD OF THE NEW COVENANT, WHICH IS SHED FOR YOU AND FOR MANY FOR THEFORGIVENESS OF SINS. DO THIS, AS OFTEN AS YOU DRINK IT,

IN REMEMBRANCE OF ME.

Great is the mystery of Faith:All say Christ has died, Christ is risen, Christ will come again

And so, Father, calling to mind his death on the cross, his perfect sacrifice made once for the sins of the whole world; rejoicing in his mighty resurrection and glorious ascension, and looking for his coming in glory, we celebrate this memorial of our redemption.

As we bring before you this bread and this cup, we offer you this our sacrifice of praise and thanksgiving and we thank you for counting us worthy to stand in your presence and serve you.

Lord, may this sacrifice, which has made our peace with you, advance the peace and salvation of all the world.Strengthen in faith your pilgrim Church on earth;your servant Jonathan our bishop, and all the bishops.

Welcome into your kingdom our departedbrothers and sisters, and all who have left this world in your friendship.

Send the Holy Spirit on your people and gather into one in your kingdom all who share this one bread and one cup, so that we, in the company of Mary,

the virgin Mother of God, of James, Simon & Jude, and all the saints, may praise and glorify you for ever, through Jesus Christ our Lord;by whom, and with whom, and in whom, in the unity of the Holy Spirit, all honour and glory be yours, almighty Father, for ever and ever. Amen.

All say Our Father, who art in heaven, hallowed be thy name;thy kingdom come; thy will be done;on earth as it is in heaven.Give us this day our daily bread. And forgive us our trespasses,as we forgive those who trespass against us.And lead us not into temptation; but deliver us from evil. For thine is the kingdom, the power, and the glory, for ever and ever. Amen.

We break this bread to share in the body of Christthough we are many we are one body, because we all share in one bread.Lamb of God, you take away the sin of the world, have mercy on us.Lamb of God, you take away the sin of the world, have mercy on us.Lamb of God, you take away the sin of the world, grant us peace.

THE INVITATIONBehold the Lamb of God, behold Him who takes away the sins of the world. Blessed are those who are called to his supper.Lord, I am not worthy to receive you,but only say the word and I shall be healed.

The Body of Christ Amen! The Blood of Christ Amen!

The Good Shepherd has risen, who laid down his life for his sheepand willingly died for his flock, alleluia.

AN ACT OF SPIRITUAL COMMUNION FOR THOSE AT HOME

Spiritual Communion is a Christian practice of desiring union with Jesus Christ in the Holy Eucharist. It is used as a preparation for Mass and by individuals who cannot receive Holy Communion.Say the following prayerfully and quietly before saying the Prayer for Spiritual Communion:Jesus my Lord, I thee adore, O make me love thee more and more.Come to my heart Lord Jesus, there is room in my heart for thee.

A deep silence is kept12

COMMUNIUON HYMN

The King of Love my Shepherd is,Whose goodness faileth never;I nothing lack if I am HisAnd He is mine forever.

Where streams of living water flow,My ransomed soul He leadeth,And where the verdant pastures grow,With food celestial feedeth.

Perverse and foolish oft I strayed,But yet in love He sought me,And on His shoulder gently laid,And home rejoicing brought me.

In death's dark vale I fear no illWith Thee, dear Lord, beside me;Thy rod and staff my comfort still,Thy cross before to guide me.

And so through all the length of daysThy goodness faileth never:Good Shepherd, may I sing Thy praiseWithin Thy house forever.

Words: HW Baker (1821-1877)
