What’s included in Workplace On Command today?Workplace On Command provides access to data and applications using virtual desktop technology, and so brings a comprehensive range of flexible and user-friendly services designed to enhance your infrastructure and transform your workplace. Your enterprise desktop presentation is entirely personalised at each user’s command, enabling them to access, subscribe, manage and follow service usage proactively through the unique ‘Steria Workstore’ - the automated portal that offers centralised, remote access to each user’s personal Workplace On Command profile.

However each profile is pre-determined by the enterprise and programmed centrally, thus requiring minimal ongoing management but offering maximum flexibility. So users are prevented from requesting anything beyond easy access to selected services as required by their business activity.

Making Workplace On Command work for youOur Workplace On Command service is planned, designed, deployed and managed entirely around your business. By understanding your current situation and reviewing existing resources against current and future needs, we deliver technologically-advanced, bespoke solutions that transform your infrastructure.

Engagement occurs in three stages:

Consulting

We consult with you personally to understand all aspects of your workplace – its people, infrastructure and applications – and the specific improvements it requires. Particular attention will be paid to user profiling at this stage, since this is the foundation of future service bundling appropriate to your particular enterprise requirements and user needs.

Given our close partnership with Microsoft, this Consulting phase will also incorporate assessment tools that will help define the most appropriate Microsoft access and licensing for the Workplace On Command enterprise, blending ‘off the shelf’, web-based or software-as-a-service solutions to maximise efficiency and improve user productivity.

Only when all of this information is in place will we design a bespoke solution to deliver your requirements, along with a transformation plan for deployment.

Transformation

Once we’ve identified your needs and agreed on a plan to fulfil them, we’ll go ahead and action the implementation of Workplace On Command services in stages, according to our transformation plan. This will allow the introduction of new working methods, infrastructure and applications, along with desired changes in user behaviour. It will also enable effective change management, to prepare for and introduce employees to their new workplace.

Managed Services

What you need to knowHow is it priced?

Workplace On Command operational services will be sold using a model similar to that of mobile phone packages. There will be a Service ‘bundle’, including base setup and default services. In addition, there will be optional services, to which a user is entitled to subscribe based on their profile.

Each user will require at least one enterprise-determined service bundle. Depending on their role, they may require more.

Each service bundle may contain a list of enterprise-agreed optional services.

The volume of devices will have no impact on service pricing (i.e. a service bundle will cost the same for one device as for each of three).

Who else is offering this service?

Whilst many IT vendors and service providers are offering associated services; such as pure play Hosted Virtual Desktop (HVD) services, Managed Desktop services, Desktop as a Service (DaaS) and Workplace as a Service, the Steria Workplace On Command service is more comprehensive. It provides:

è the unique Steria Workstore as a central portal from which to access and manage the workplace

è an “end to end” suite of workplace lifecycle services across a broad range of desktop and mobile devices

è a defined roadmap of onward enhancement and development

Additionally, Workplace On Command offers flexibility for large accounts. They can elect to use traditional Microsoft Office licenses for their MS Office software, or move to the new cloud-based Office365 solution which can - if required - incorporate a mix of Microsoft and open source software. End users will be able to activate Office365 accounts through the Steria Workstore.
