On July 2018, these four students participated in the first International Internship in Biotechnology and Serology at the Institute of Biotechnology (IBTEC) in the city of Botucatu, São Paulo, Brazil. Their international experience started in Foz de Iguazu, one of the Natural Wonders of the world. The following three weeks, they were immersed in laboratory experiences tittering viral loads of ani-mal vaccines, working with mosquito surveillance in the battle against infectious diseases, manipu-lating human cells in the study of virus causing cancer, using next generation sequencing as a tool to study plant and population genetics and the maintenance of plant germplasm. Martha, Kat, Rorie and Clay will share with us their experiences, and advise current SF students about the benefits of participating in this new interna-tional program.

Dr. Paul Castillo Caro, M.D., University of Florida Division of Hematology & Oncology, Department of Pediatrics in the College of Medicine.
