Compiler’s Note

All Praise is due to Almighty Allah, Durood and Salaams upon the Beloved

Rasool and upon his noble family and illustrious companions, and

upon all the Ulama e Haq Ahle Sunnat wa Jama’at and upon all those who

follow those who follow the path of righteousness.

Haji Rahmatullah Bhai Qaadiri Amjadi, who is a close and devout mureed

of Huzoor Mufti e Azam radi Allahu anhu and true Aashiq of Huzoor

Muhad’dith e Kabeer, sent me the audio recording of a discourse which

Huzoor Muhad’dith e Kabeer delivered during the Chaliswa (forty day

Faateha) of Peerji alaihir Rahma. Hazrat Peerji alaihir Rahma was a devout

mureed of Ghaus ul Waqt Huzoor Mufti e Azam Hind Radi Allahu anhu.

His name was Saleh Mohammed bin Abu Bakr, but everyone knew him as

Peerji, because it was the name by which Sayyidi Sarkaar Mufti e Azam

Hind Radi Allahu anhu addressed him.

Alhamdu Lillah, I too was blessed with spending immense time in his

company as in my student days in Bareilly Shareef, he would live in my

room during Urs of Huzoor Mufti e Azam Hind radi Allahu anhu, and

whenever I went to Bombay, he would allow me to spend all my days with

him whilst there. He was originally from a place called Murdeshwar

which is in Karnataka, South India, and followed the Shafi’i Madhab. He

passed from this world on the 29th of Shawwal 1423 (3rd January 2003). His

blessed Mazaar is at the Bara Qabrastran, Marine Lines, Mumbai.

5

I listened to the discourse and like all the discourses of Huzoor

Muhad’dith e Kabeer; it was full of knowledge and wisdom. It was an

amazing discourse on remaining steadfast on Haq (truth).

Huzoor Muhad’dith e Kabeer spoke on the importance of righteousness

and keeping away from the deviants, and in that he mentioned the

firmness of Peerji alaihir Rahma. Our dear Rahmatullah Bhai requested

that I should translate this discourse into English, so that it could be in a

book form. I too thought that this was a very good idea, but time did not

permit and I was unable to commence this task until now. After reaching

Arab Shareef on the 29th of Safar with the intention of Ziyaarah of

Sayyiduna Rasoolullah Sall Allahu alaihi wa Sallam and for Umrah, my

dear brother Abdul Mustafa Qaadiri Amjadi who is the son of Haji

Rahmatullah Bhai and also the mureed of Huzoor Muhad’dith e Kabeer,

and a young man whose childhood was spent in the shadow of Peerji

alaihir Rahma, repeated this request to have the discourse translated into

English.

Being in this Holy Land, I decided to try and fulfil this request and on the

2nd of Rabi ul Awwal 1437, I attempted to translate this blessed discourse

into English, here in Holy Makkah. I completed half the translation in

Makkah Shareef and decided to leave half to be translated and completed

in Madina Shareef. Alhamdu Lillah, today the 4th of Rabi ul Awwal 1437 in

Madina e Paak, I have to the best of my ability succeeded in translating

this discourse of Huzoor Muhad’dith e Kabeer (Allah preserve him) into

English and gathering it into a booklet.

6

If any errors are found in this document they should be attributed to my

error in translating and not to Huzoor Muhad’dith e Kabeer.

I would like to thank all those who have assisted in making this

translation a success especially Brother Rukhsar Husain and Brother

Faheem Moosa, and Maulana Qaisar Ali Razvi who assisted in transcribing

the lecture into Urdu text.

I pray through the Wasila of Nabi Kareem Sall Allahu alaihi wa Sallam and

through the Blessings of Holy Makkah and Blessed Madina, that Almighty

Allah will accept my attempt and afford me the blessing of completing

this translation. Aameen

Let us send a love and devotion filled bouquet of Durood and Salaams in

the blessed Court of the Beloved Rasool Sall Allahu alaihi wa Sallam.

My beloved friends and respected elders of the Muslim community!

When Almighty Allah blessed us humans with excellence over all the

other creatures, it was only because Almighty Allah created us in a way,

whereby he gave us a sense of responsibility. Those who realise and are

conscious of this sense of responsibility (which Allah gave them), are the

ones who are truly regarded as honoured and exalted by Allah.

Whether the world (i.e. people of the world) regards them as common or

disgraced, it makes no difference and means nothing, because true

honour and dignity is that which is regarded as honour in the Court of

Allah. The praises of the people have no significance.

8

As for those servants, who are deprived from realising their

responsibilities (i.e. their true Religious Duties), and are thus completely

heedless of these duties of theirs; Almighty Allah has seized them into

humiliation. No matter how much people honour them in the world, but

by Allah they are indeed deserving of chastisement. This is not really

honour (which they have in the world), otherwise this world has also seen

people like Pharaoh, who had a huge following, and many people sang his

praises, and they unduly supported (and praised) him.

Many powerful leaders and men of power, kings and emperors have

passed through this world. They were those whom the people

acknowledged and those whom the people regarded as honourable and

powerful, but in the Court of Allah, these people were regarded as lowly

and disgraced.

Who does not know about the kuffar e Makkah, who ruled from inside

Makkah, be it Abu Jahl or Umayya ibn Khalf, or be it anyone else (from

amongst them)! These people had immense respect and power in Makkah

(except in the Court of Allah)?

Read the Holy Qur’an, and you will see that they have no other position

except that of humiliation and disgrace. It is for this reason that I have

said that the ones with true honour in the Court of Allah are those who

realise and have the true feeling towards their (Deeni) duties, and they

remain occupied in fulfilling this obligation and duty.

9

It is for this reason that Almighty Allah says in the Holy Qur’an:

ة ولرسو  العز له وللمؤمنني و

‘(True) Honour is for Allah, and for His Rasool, and for the Believers’

[Surah 63 Verse 8]

In other words, Honour by Allah, is the Divine Honour of Allah, or the

honour which has been bestowed upon his Rasool, and through their

blessings, that honour which has been bestowed upon the believers.

Even today, you see many powerful rulers and dictators. The world is seen

trembling in view of their tyranny, and hence the people agree with

whatever they say. On one hand they praise them, but on the other hand

the people of the world also curse them behind their backs. For such

people by Allah, there is no other path, but that of humiliation and

disgrace.

The gist of what I have mentioned is that Almighty Allah has created us,

giving us a sense of responsibility and duty. Those who realised this

reason for their creation, and understood it well, and adhered to it, they

remained honoured in the Court of Allah. In addition, those who deviated

from this reason for their creation, and have dislike for it, then they have

no position or station before Allah, except for humiliation and disgrace.

10

Now if you look at the Sahaba e Kiraam, you will find that there were very

few among them who had wealth, or very few among them who owned

huge properties. Most of them were poor and needy, but till today, from

amongst all the Muslims, those Sahaba till today still have been blessed

with that exalted and excellent stations that even the greatest Wali

cannot reach. Their Amal (actions/practices) have been regarded as the

yardstick of the Shariah. Their words are accepted as confirmationof the

commands of Shariah. They have been blessed with such excellence.

Why is this? This is only because they realised their reason for creation,

more than anyone else, through the rays of Allah’s mercy which they

attained from the Blessed Court of Sayyiduna Rasoolullah Sall Allahu

alaihi wa Sallam. Such excellence has not been blessed to anyone else.

Actually, even amongst the Sahaba e Kiraam, there were those who were

very wealthy, but are those wealthy Sahaba e Kiraam regarded the most

exalted amongst all the Sahaba e Kiraam?

Undoubtedly, Abdur Rahman ibn Auf, Zubair ibn Awaam and Uthman e

Ghani Radi Allahu Ta’aala Anhum were regarded as the wealthy amongst

the Sahaba, but what can be said about the status which has been

bestowed to Hazrat Abu Bakr and Hazrat Umar Radi Allahu anhuma? They

did not possess huge amounts of wealth, but the honour, status and

excellence which has been bestowed upon them is not hidden from

anyone in this world. There are testimonies in the Holy Qur’an (regarding

them).

11

These are the two (blessed personalities) whom the Beloved Rasool Sall

Allahu alaihi wa Sallam blessed with his highest power of representation

and the leader of the universe Sall Allahu Alaihi wa Sallam, used to enjoin

his work with theirs and enjoin theirs with his.

This excellence was not given to them because of wealth, but it was

because of the blessings of Deen, the responsibilities of Deen, and the rays

of love which they attained from Nabi e Paak Sall Allahu alaihi wa Sallam.

In this regard, these blessed personalities have been blessed with a very

special uniqueness; they have been blessed with a special individuality. It

is for this reason that they have been blessed with honour in this world

and in the hereafter as well, and they have been blessed with excellence

amongst all the Muslims, and they have been granted an exalted honour

in the Court of Allah.

Now, that you have understood this, then you must understand this as

well, that this excellence (and status) is not very easily achieved. One has

to strive and make immense sacrifice for this. A man can do business and

trade, by way of which he gathers wealth; he may exercise and train in

order to strengthen his body; a man gains leadership after much effort

and after serving the people, but that honour which is by Allah, cannot be

attained in this manner. To attain this honour, one must make great

sacrifices. One will be tested with regards to every enemy of Allah and His

Rasool Sall Allahu alaihi wa Sallam.

12

The one who despises more in his heart the enemies of Rasoolullah Sall

Allahu alaihi wa Sallam, it is he who is more honoured in the Court of

Allah. As for that person who has the slightest soft-spot (softness) in his

heart for the enemies of Rasoolullah Sall Allahu alaihi wa Sallam, he will

be counted amongst the deprived.

It is a very easy task for a person to use flattery and compromise, and to

please everyone, in order to gain a huge following, and to keephis

relationship established with them by promising them his (false)

closeness and friendship, and in doing so thereby increasing the number

of those who follow him. This is something which is very easy to do, but it

is a very difficult task, when for the sake of Allah, one has to fight with

this person and that person and the next person and the next person and

to remain alone (by your-self in this). This is a very difficult task (i.e.

challenge).

As per his nature, man is obliged in order to gain support and to keep his

friendship established with those close to his heart, but this friendship is

only permitted as long as it does not cause the slightest harm to the

attachment he has with Allah and His Rasool Sall Allahu alaihi wa Sallam.

In addition, when it becomes such that his attachment to Allah and His

Rasool Sall Allahu alaihi wa Sallam is affected even the slightest bit by this

(detrimental) disease, and it is understood that this person has now been

afflicted by this disease, and his love and his Imaan has also been affected

by this disease, then it is from here forth that his weakness (i.e. his

downfall) starts; it is from this point forth that the path to his destruction

widens.

13

This is why we have seen that the Sahaba e Kiraam never tried to grow

their numbers by keeping relations with the enemies of Rasoolullah Sall

Allahu alaihi wa Sallam, but they stood upright against every type of

difficulty on the plains of Makkah. They let the numbers of their enemies

increase, but they never left the Daaman of the Allah’s Rasool Sall Allahu

Alaihi wa Sallam.

They never allowed the spiritual sensation of the love for Allah and His

Rasool Sall Allahu alaihi wa Sallam to be removed from their hearts and

minds. It is this sacrifice of theirs which caused them to reach such great

(spiritual) heights.

Today, we people can never reach the love of the Sahaba e Kiraam or the

station of love which they possessed, but we can surely attain some

blessings from it. These are those blessings which are sufficient for our

salvation. If we only attain the blessings of their sacrifices, then this alone

is sufficient to exalt our status.

We have seen and read this Hadith in Bukhari Shareef that Sayyiduna

Mu’az ibn Jabal and Abu Musa Ash’ari Radi Allahu anhuma were sent by

Rasoolullah Sall Allahu alaihi wa Sallam as the Qaadi (Chief Justices) of

Yemen, and he Sall Allahu alaihi wa Sallam distributed two provinces

between the both of them, that on one side, one should control the affairs

and on the other side the other should control the affairs.

14

Both these personalities went there. Both of them established their

headquarters at the borders of their province, so that in case they needed

to take advice from one another or if they wished to meet with one

another, they would not have to journey too far out. They both set up

their posts near the border within their own jurisdictions. They would

meet with each other daily or after a few days.

One day Hazrat Mu’az ibn Jabal Radi Allahu anhu got onto his horse and

rode to the province of Hazrat Abu Musa Ash’ari Radi Allahu anhu.

He noticed that there were huge crowds of people all around Hazrat Abu

Musa Ash’ari Radi Allahu anhu, and in the middle there was a person

whose both hands were tied to his neck. On seeing this Hazrat Mu’az ibn

Jabal Radi Allahu anhu asked, ‘What is this?’Hazrat Abu Musa Ash’ari Radi

Allahu anhu said, ‘This is that person who was a Muslim before, and now

he has turned away from Islam and has become a murtad (apostate).’

Hazrat Mu’az Radi Allahu anhu said, ‘O Abu Musa! Until he is not executed

I will not dismount.’ He said, ‘He has been brought here for this very

purpose (so dismount).’Hazrat Mu’az said, ‘First fulfil this duty, then only

I will dismount.’ He insisted that he will not dismount until he is not

given the punishment of an apostate.

Can you understand how they despised and disliked those who had

turned away from Islam? They were not even pleased to set foot on that

ground on which an apostate was, even though he was shackled and

bound.

15

They could not bear him being alive (after leaving the Deen of Allah),

even though he was tied and bound. Do you understand this? Is it easy to

have such commitment today? This was the commitment and strong will

of the Sahaba e Kiraam.

Hazrat Sayyiduna Ameerul Momineen Ali e Murtaza Radi Allahu anhuwas

asked by the people, ‘What do you know about Hazrat Abu Bakr Radi

Allahu anhu?’ He said, ‘Abu Bakr Radi Allahu anhu! He is the greatest

Aalim amongst us and the bravest amongst us.’ They said, ‘But you are

braver and more courageous than him!’ He said, ‘Why are you going on

about my bravery?

Listen! When the battle of Badr was in full force, we all left Rasoolullah

Sall Allahu alaihi wa Sallam by himself and went out to face the enemy.

Each Sahabi was in combat with one of the enemy soldiers, but it was only

the foresight of Hazrat Abu Bakr Radi Allahu that he felt that the Beloved

Rasool Sall Allahu alaihi wa Sallam was by himself in the tent, and this

entire battle is in reality for him. Therefore, there is a possibility that the

enemy will attack the tent of Rasoolullah Sall Allahu alaihi wa Sallam in

large numbers, so alone he stood outside the tent and fought off the

enemy, and alone he combatted all those enemies who dared to approach

the tent of Rasoolullah Sall Allahu alaihi wa Sallam. This was his bravery

that he did not even call for support from any one of his companions (but

he defended this position by himself).

16

Let me now tell you more about his valour. Once his son, Hazrat Abdur

Rahman ibn Abu Bakr was captured by the Muslim army. At that time he

had not as yet accepted Islam and was part of the enemy forcesthat

fought in Badr. He was imprisoned in Madina. It was during this time that

he was given divine guidance and accepted Islam. One day he said to his

father, ‘O my dear father! Once during the battle (of Badr) when the battle

was at its peak, you came at striking distance of my sword, but I did not

strike you, but thinking of you as my father, I spared you.’

Now listen to the response of Hazrat Abu Bakr Radi Allahu anhu! He says,

‘Abdur Rahman! This was the weakness of your kufr, that you saw a

fatherly relationship. By Allah! If you were at striking distance of my

sword, then I would not have paid heed to this relationship, that you are

my son, but all I would have seen was that the enemy of Rasoolullah Sall

Allahu alaihi wa Sallam is approaching, and that you had come out against

Rasoolullah Sall Allahu alaihi wa Sallam. I would have surely stuck your

neck with my sword’.’

Can you understand from this, that their bravery and valour was one

thing, but look at how strong was the passion of their Imaan. Look at how

powerful their Imaan was over kufr. These are the sacrifices they made

which took them to such great heights. These are the sacrifices they

made. If you observe the lives of the Sahaba e Kiraam and look at all

which they had sacrificed, you will be astonished, to think as to what

needs to be done in this era. This is why when Sayyiduna Imam Ibn Sireen

Radi Allahu Anhu was asked, ‘You have seen many Sahaba e Kiraam in

your time, so please tell ussomething about them?’

17

He said, ‘You are asking about them! Listen! Their condition was such that

if you had to see them, you would think they were ‘fanatical’, and if they

saw you, then they would not have regarded you as Muslims.’

This was the situation in the period of the Taabi’een, so what is the

situation in this time?

Today, the name of Islam is more, but the true vigour of Islam is less. In

that time, the condition was such, that Imam Ibn Sireen is saying that if

those people, i.e. the Sahaba had to see you, then they would have refused

to regard you as Muslims. Think for a while, as to how exalted their status

is. They would not even accept anything which even in face-value was in

the slightest way contrary to the Sunnah of Rasoolullah Sall Allahu alaihi

wa Sallam.

There is a Hadith in Bukhari Shareef about the era when Marwan bin

Hakm was the governor of Madina. Marwan bin Hakm ascended the

Mimbar for the Eid Khutbah (sermon), but he did so before the Namaaz.

Sayyiduna Abu Sa’eed Khudri Radi Allahu anhu who is counted amongst

the younger Sahaba due to his age (who was old at that time), was present

there. Hazrat Abu Sa’eed Khudri Radi Allahu anhu lunged towards the

Mimbar and grabbed his robes and began to tug at him and drag him,

because the Khutbah of Eid Namaaz is delivered after the Eid Namaaz, and

Marwan ascended the Mimbar before the Namaaz.

18

Abu Sa’eed Khudri Radi Allahu anhu grabbed hold of his robes pulling him

down. He was attempting to climb on to the Mimbar, but he (Abu Sa’eed

Radi Allahu anhu) is persistent on pulling him down. He went on saying

that Rasool e Paak Sall Allahu alaihi wa Sallam always delivered the

Khutbah after Eid Namaaz, so I will not allow you to do so before the Eid

Namaaz.

I want to ask you a question, when will an ordinary subject behave in such

a manner with the governor of any place? When? This happens when in

the sight of such a person is only the Maqaam e Nubuiwat, and all other

positions are nothing before his sight. Only then can a person do such a

thing. He is not interested in what the governor will do. He does not care

whether the governor will hang him, send him to prison, or have him

flogged.

He says to Marwan, ‘Listen! This was the manner of Rasool e Paak Sall

Allahu alaihi wa Sallam.’ He (Marwan) was much stronger so he pulled his

way up to the Mimbar (pulpit) and said, ‘O Abu Sa’eed! Whatever

knowledge you had has gone away.’ He (Abu Sa’eed) said, ‘My knowledge

is better than your knowledge.

The knowledge which I have is from Court of the Beloved Nabi Sall Allahu

alaihi wa Sallam, and in your chest is the knowledge of your desires.’ He

(Marwan) said, ‘Actually, the people do not wait to listen to my Khutbah.

They read the Eid Namaaz and go away, hence I read the Khutbah first. He

(Abu Sa’eed) said, ‘Rasoolullah Sall Allahu alaihi wa Sallam said, ‘He from

amongst you who sees any contrary action taking place, he should stop it

19

with his hand, and if does not have the capability to do this, then he

should refute it with his tongue (i.e. speak against it). Additionally, if he

does not have the ability to even do this, then he should at least regard it

wrong in his heart, and after this then there is no share in Imaan’.’

In other words, if one does not even regard an evil act as evil even in his

heart, then he has no Imaan. Thus, one should realise that in this

situation one has to face many tests and difficulties.

Today, we are present here due to the passing away of Peerji alaihir

Rahma, in order to participate in this Esaal e Thawaab gathering being

held for him.

Alhamdu Lillah, I spent a very long time (i.e. many years) with Peerji. I

spent time with him in private and in public. I spent time with him during

journeys and also when he was at home. I travelled with him in India and

outside India as well. I spent time with him even in the holy lands, and I

found him to be alike at every place. He was an unsheathed sword for the

bud-mazhabs (deviants). He indeed had enmity for those who were the

enemy of Rasoolullah Sall Allahu alaihi wa Sallam; he even boycotted

those who befriended those who were the enemies. If he even found

theslightest hint of friendship for them (deviants) in someone, he would

even abstain from shaking hands which such a person. In addition, if such

a person stretched out his hand to shake hands with him, he would

immediately say, ‘Move away! I do not shake hands with (people) like

you.’Does anyone have this much fortitude today? Even the Ulama of

today do not have such fortitude.

20

Once, unknowingly an unworthy person shook the hands of Huzoor Mufti

e Azam Hind Radi Allahu anhu. When he became aware of this, he asked

for water, and then washed his hands for a very long time.

Subhaan’Allah! It becomes clear that every abhorrent disease is a disease,

but that person whose Imaan is diseased is most detrimental. This is such

a dangerous disease that if touched by the hand, then there is the risk of

it contaminating the heart. This was not a risk to him (Huzoor Mufti e

Azam), but this was his teaching (to us), that if you despise someone (for

the sake of Allah and His Rasool Sall Allahu alaihi wa Sallam), then this is

how it should be.

If a person touches dry dung, he will still wash his hands, even though

nothing came onto his hand, even though it was dry dung, and this, is

even worse than dung. The apostates are in the lowest level of hell, so

what need is there to have any connection or association with them?

Do you know how wahabism spread today? How did this wahabism spread

today? How did the spread of bud-mazbiyat happen? Do you know

anything about it? This only happened because the people put behind

them the commands which Allah and His Rasool Sall Allahu alaihi wa

Sallam gave. This is the reason.

I have heard this from many Molvis and some Mullahs who are the

stooges of politics. Theysaythatperiod is no more; now the situation is not

the same (as before) to have such differences.

21

The bud-mazhabs go forward and take illegitimate advantage from your

so called friendship (with them). Listen! Today bud-mazhabiyat

(deviance) has grown because of your friendships and you forging

relationships (of marriage etc.) with them.If you had truly despised them,

would they have been able to enter your Masjids? Would they have been

able to take over your Masjids? Would it have been possible for their

daughters to come into your homes? Would your daughters have liked to

go into their homes? Absolutely not! However, you have kept your

relations established with them.

I have seen Peerji always doing this work. He always refuted the bud-

mazhabs (deviants). Once, two years ago, he was journeying to the Urs in

Ghosi, and a businessman was also seated in the same (train) coach. They

were all travelling together in the same two tier. The man then asked

Peerji, ‘What is your business (occupation), in other words, what do you

do?’He said, ‘My occupation is Radd-e-wahabiyah (Refuting the wahabis). ‘

The person said, ‘What do you mean?’ He said, ‘My occupation is Radd e

wahabiyah and it is through this that I receive my sustenance.’

It is not a small thing to make such a statement. I have seen this, and I

have said this in many of my lectures, that the one who gets too much

wealth, is the one who starts to spread out his hands and legs even more

(i.e. such a person now attempts to be good with all, even with deviants,

so he can make more money), and he starts to become negligent of Imaan

and its demands.

22

There are very few amongst the wealthy in whose hearts Allah keeps the

abhorrence of bud-mazhabs completely in their hearts.

Hence, I look down with contempt at those who are wealthy, yet they

forge (marital) relationships (etc.) with deviants. I reprimand such people

in private and also refute them in public gatherings. What is the reason

for this (that even after having everything they still have relations with

deviants)?

They chant the slogan of ‘Maslak e Aala Hazrat’, but what really is Maslak

e Aala Hazrat, they are not living up to it. They do not even know what it

really is.

The beauty of Peerji was that when he befriended someone it was on the

basis of Sunniyat. He would have closer friendship with that person who

was more firm in Sunniyat, and when they noticed someone who also had

relations (with deviants), he would boycott such a person (i.e. he would

disassociate himself from such a person).

If such a person (whom he knew about) attempted to enter his shop, he

would stop him from even climbing the stairs off his shop. (He would say),

‘Beware! Do not enter here.’Why did hedo this? Why? He knew well that

the love of Nabi Sall Allahu alaihi wa Sallam, and the friendship

(association) with the enemies of Nabi Sall Allahu alaihi wa Sallam can

never be gathered in one place.

23

This is why Almighty Allah had blessed Peerji with great respect. I regard

this as respect and honour, because those people who had very little

knowledge (on Aqaa’id issues), by sitting with Peerji, they understood

well the fundamental differences between the beliefs of the Sunnis and

Wahabis, and they started to practice upon this, and they became

steadfast on this.

This is why I used to say that it is very important for there to be people

like Peerji (amongst us), because in Bombay the Ulama Council (i.e.

United) has destroyed (i.e. weakened) the people, and they have

attempted to bury the Janaazah of Sunniyat.

Peerji was the one person who always opposed them and stood firm

against them, and in the beginning I do not know for what status, the

Ulama began to run behind them, (chanting) Ulama council! Ulama

council!

It was during this time, that I had once come (to Bombay) during the

month of Muharram, and I got some people ready and asked them to

arrange a program against the Ulama council. I said that I will lecture

against them and that I do not need any Nazrana (gift), and (what

happened was that) the Masjid in which this program was to be held, the

Imam Saab of that Masjid, left the Masjid and fled.

He said, ‘Neither will I announce the program; nor will I partake in it,

because Allama will refute the Ulama council in it.’ (Why?) Because the

refutation of Ulama council was related to him.

24

What have they been able to do? What have they done till now, these

Ulama council people? Except for this, that those who abstained from

marrying and forging relations with wahabis, today they (the same

people) are marrying and forging relationships with them. What did they

do? When a Masjid came back into the control of the Sunnis, they took

the Masjid and handed it over to them (the Wahabis) again. Is this the

great service which they have rendered?

What have they done? This, that they have traded their Imaan. They gave

a report in the newspaper, a press report, saying that putting behind us

our Religious differences; we should stand together under the banner of

one Kalima, for the sake of our political and economic benefit. Therefore,

you regard Imaan as something that should be kept behind us (i.e.

ignored)?

Worthless are those who make such statements concerning Imaan. When

I sent a question to them asking whether this statement is reeking of kufr

or not? They said, ‘But we did not say that.’ I asked, ‘Then how was this

published in the newspaper?’ They began to say that the newspaper

printed an incorrect report.’ I said, ’Give me this in writing and we will

publish it in the newspaper.’ They said, ‘No! You print it from your side.’ I

said, ‘Enough! I have understood that for you to speak against Imaan and

Islam is very easy, but when the truth about Imaan has to be said, then

you are choking, and I should give clarification for you. You make kufr

statements and I should give clarification!’ This is despotism upon

despotism, and then you lie about it.

25

What you should have done, was to repent and break your ties with them

(Ulama council), but no, you regarded the respect of this world to be

greater. When these Molvis are attacked by snakes in their graves, then

only will they realise, and when the Angels of torment of the grave strike

them with their rods, then they will realise, and to realise at that time is

of no use. You still have time today.

Praise be to Allah, that our Peerji did not care about anyone or about

what anyone said or felt, but he would be occupied in this task of keeping

Sunniyat established. He would distribute books to the people, and he

would explain (the truth) to them.

For those who read and preferred English, he would arrange books in

English from England and Africa. He would arrange the translations of

Aala Hazrat’s (radi Allahu anhu) books and get people to read them, and

explain to them the importance of understanding what Imaan really is,

and what the Madhab e Haq is, and what Maslak e Aala Hazrat is. Hence,

all of you should make sure you remember Aala Hazrat’s final advice. Just

a few hours before his passing away, he had his advice recorded

(written). The gist of his advice was that, you should regard the love of

Rasoolullah Sall Allahu alaihi wa Sallam as the greatest Fard (obligation

and duty) of all Fard (obligations and duties) and the greatest need of all

needs. For Imaan is in this, and this is actually the soul of Imaan, and he

advised that we should realise that the worst Haraam is the company of

the bud-mazhabs, and we should realise this is Haraam above all Haraam,

and we should thus despise (their company). It is this which is the

requirements for the protection of your Imaan.

26

Is there anyone who can reject the open, clear and absolute command

which Allah has given in the Holy Qur’an concerning severing

relationships with the kuffar and the apostates and having friendship

with them? One who rejects this will become an infidel, because there is a

direct injunction concerning this in the Qur’an, which forbids this. It is

the command of Rasool e Kareem Sarwar e Aalam Sall Allahu alaihi wa

Sallam, ‘Keep away from them and keep them away from you’.

In other words, do not let them anywhere near you, and if they attempt to

come close to you, then you should become far from them. In other

words, we should keep away from them and keep them away from us, and

the way to keep them away, is to chase them far away from you. The

beloved Rasool Sall Allahu alaihi wa Sallam, explained that, let it not be so

that they become close to you and then plunge you into fitna (i.e. mislead

you).

The meaning of plunging you into fitna means they will cause you to lose

your Imaan and cause you to become bud Aqida (corrupt and deviant).

It is mentioned in another narration that, ‘Neither should you eat or drink

with them, nor marry or have relations with them, and when they

become ill then do not visit them, and if they die, do not partake in their

Janaazah Namaaz.’(Note that all of this has been mentioned about bud-

mazhabs, i.e. deviants).

27

It is further mentioned in the narration of Ibn Hib’ban that, ‘Neither

should you perform their Janaazah Namaaz and nor should you perform

Namaaz with them.’ This is not only about performing behind them, but

we should even avoid standing in the same Saff with them, because it will

be the same as performing with them, because there is a risk of damaging

your Imaan. The least is that your Namaaz will be invalidated because the

Saff has been broken (by them joining). Hence, you should not read

Namaaz behind them. If the one who is aware of his kufr and reads behind

him, and then still performs Namaaz behind such a person with the

intention of Namaaz, then he becomes an infidel. He becomes an infidel!’

This is why he (Peerji) used to properly explain all these rulings (to the

people). He would be very cautious in this regard. It is due to this

compulsion that he would seldom read Namaaz behind anyone. He would

first investigate as to which Imam it was safe to perform Namaaz behind

and then only would he perform behind him. There were very few such

Imams that he would perform behind, because nowadays it generally

happens such that some Imams are forced by the trustees to (Allah

Forbid) do Qur’an Khwaani for bud-mazhabs (deviants); this is such a

huge catastrophe (Allah Forbid).

Sometimes they say (to the Imam even if he is not asked to lead), that at

least join (the Janaazah Namaaz); you don’t have to make any Niyyat. At

least, it will still keep our association established (with them). For the sake

of their own association, they sacrifice their Imam.

28

Sometimes, because of some kind of compulsion the Imam goes to one of

their places, but in reality that compulsion is not a compulsion. In the

case of compulsion only that which is ‘Iqrah e Mulji’ (when under duress

to do something without any other option, i.e. with the genuine risk of

being killed etc.) is that which is regarded as a genuine compulsion and all

these (other) so called compulsions are merely baseless. It has to be ‘Iqrah

e Mulji’ for it to be a genuine case of compulsion.

There is no room for this (baseless excuse), that he will not make Salaam

to me anymore, so I was compelled? Or, such and such person will not

perform Namaaz behind me anymore, so it was a compulsion, hence I

compromised with him. Yes, however if you find that people are not

steadfast, then you should inform them, and let them know about their

Deen (i.e. Deeni duties). In addition, he should be told about the deviance

of the deviants, so that he may end up on one side, either on this side or

on that side. There is no place in Islam for those who are on both sides, in

other words, (it is) like having lad’du (sweets) in both hands (i.e. keeping

both sides happy).

Almighty Allah blessed Peerji with the power of being an ‘Aamil’ as well

(i.e. mastery in handling supernatural issues). In a very short space of

time, he used to treat the ailments of the people, and with some Duas etc.

he would assist people to recover huge amounts that they had lost. If he

was like the other so-called ones who do this work, but compromise their

principles, then he too would have had a lot of wealth today, but no,he

would say to those (whom he assisted), (if you wish), then give this

amount to Allama’s Madrassah, I will do all your work. Some would say,

29

yes indeed we will give to the Madrassah, but when their need was

fulfilled and they recovered hundreds of thousands which was lost, they

would give one or two thousand towards the Madrassah. And then Peerji

would go into Jalaal and say, ‘However, he said he would give this amount

to the Madrassah!’ I would say to him, ‘Peerji! If you tell people it is for

Madrassah, then this is how much they will give. Why do you not have

your own fee?’And he would say, ‘No, I cannot do this. It is not possible

that I should ask for myself.’

Almighty Allah blessed him with a means from which he could earn very

well, but he performed Amal for the sake of Amal, and not Amal for the

sake of wealth. He was blessed with many beautiful qualities. When we

would travel together, he would give me whatever Nazrana (gifts) people

gave him, and when I would reach here I would give it to him or to

Rahmatullah Bhai, and ask him to give it to him, but he would refuse to

take even one cent. He would say, ‘Give it to Allama’s Madrassah; I will not

take even one cent.’ Was he (Peerji) a millionaire, a billionaire, or a

trillionaire? What was he? He was such a person that if he got two meals a

day, this was sufficient for him. This was all that he needed, but he was

blessed with the nobility of Imaan.

Subhaan’Allah, on the eve of the day when he passed away, I called

Rahmatullah Bhai for something, so Rahmatullah Bhai said, ‘Peerji is not

feeling very well, please speak to him.’ I spoke to Peerji, and I made Dua

for him, ‘That may Allah give you Shifa (Cure)’, and he said, ‘No, no, just

make Dua’. Therefore, again I said, ‘Allah give you Shifa’, and he said, ‘Not

for Shifa, just make Dua.’

30

I could not understand at that time that I am making Dua for his Shifa,

and he is saying, no, make Dua. Which Dua is it that he was requesting?

With the exception of Dua for Shifa, which Dua was he requesting?

Afterwards did we realise when the people started calling around, that he

said to the people a day before that, from tomorrow recite for me Surah

Mulk for forty days. He said to a young boy whoworked at his shop that,

tomorrow the shop will be closed. (The young boy said) ‘Tomorrow is

Friday right?’ He said, ‘Yes it is Friday’. (The young boy asked) ‘But why

will the shop be closed tomorrow, shops open here on Fridays?’He said,

‘Tomorrow I will pass away, but do not tell anyone, even mybrothers.’

Where have you seen a person so easily and calmly talking about passing

away? What kind of passion was in him that he did this so casually?

Usually when the thought of death appears before us, our hair stands up

and all hope is lost, and the heart stands pounding so much, as if one is

dying before death. This is what happens to a person, but Subhaan’Allah!

He said to some people, you should make Dua e Maghfirat for me. To some

he made some requests and to others some other requests. He continued

to give these messages to those who were close to him. Some of them he

just hinted to and to others he said it very clearly, like he said to the

young boy that the next day he would pass away and the shop will be

closed, and that he should not mention anything to his brothers.

I understood by all of this, that through the power which Almighty Allah

had blessed him with, for the sake of the treatment of the people, he had

received some signs, and he was prepared from beforehand.

31

Allah had blessed him with a great gift of Istiqaamat (steadfastness) on

Deen, and (in the morning at Fajr) whilst performing Miswaak at the

Haudh (pond, in the Masjid), he either slipped, or by some other way fell

into the pond, and he passed away there.

It has been mentioned in the Hadith e Paak by Rasool e Akram Sall Allahu

alaihi wa Sallam that, ‘A Muslim who passes away by way of drowning is a

Shaheed (martyr), and one who passes away through being burnt in a fire

is also a Shaheed.’

Therefore, he was blessed with the station of martyrdom (Shahaadat).

This is a very great blessing and that too on a Friday. It has been

mentioned in the Hadith e Paak about passing away on a Friday, that the

one who passes away on a Friday (i.e. a believer) is given respite from the

questioning of the Nakeerain (Angels of the grave), and he is given

salvation from the punishment of the grave. This is a very great status.

Allah Almighty blessed him with great honour. I have seen in the entire

Bombay, his firmness in matters of Deen, and his steadfastness and the

manner in which he treated the deviants, and how he did not care about

what people said or thought when it came to Religious matters. His way

with the deviants was;

‘Dushman e Ahmad Pe Shid’dat Kijiye

Mulhido Ki Kya Murawwat Kijiye

Shirk Tehre Jis me Tazeem e Rasool

Us Burey Mazhab Pe La’nat Kijiye’

32

This was the symbol of the life of Peerji alaihir Rahma. That Peerji has

now departed from us and this has left a huge vacuum amongst us. May

Allah by His Grace appoint someone who will fill his place. His work was

solid. He was very blessed and special.

He had preserved the very old debates and arguments of the learned

Ulama e Kiraam, and the condition of the Buzurgaan e Deen which he saw

with his own eyes, and personally heard. He had also preserved the old

letters and documents of the pious predecessors. This is what his life was

about.

It is necessary upon us that if we love Peerji, then we should keephis

manner and way alive, and we should keep aloof from the deviants.

Bud-mazhabi (Deviancy) has spread by some way throughout the world.

Now you explain to me, have you seen any Sunni becoming a bhori, have

you seen any Sunni taking admission in Imamia mission, in other words

have you seen him becoming a raafdhi or shia? Neither do you go to their

Masjid, nor do they come to your Masjid, and if he does come, then

everyone’s ears stand up (i.e. become alert), as to what is such a person

doing here. Do we marry amongst them (shias) or the bhorey’s? Why do

we not forge marital relations with them? No (true) Sunni forges marital

relations with raafdhis or Ismaeelis. Why? Because the pious predecessors

explained the ruling in the light of Qur’an and Hadith, and that Sunnat

(tradition) is continuing even till this day.

33

This very same ruling was mentioned and decreed by Hazrat Allama Fazl e

Haq Khayabaadi, Hazrat Mufti Sadrud’deen Azurda, Hazrat e Maulana

Shah Makhsus’ullah, Hazrat e Maulana Fazlur Rahman Badayouni, Hazrat

e Maulana Taajul Fuhool Abdul Qaadir Badayouni, Sayyiduna Imam Ahle

Sunnat Aala Hazrat Faazil e Bareilvi, and Sayyiduna Shaykh ul Masha’ikh

Shaykh Abul Husain Noori Mia (Alaihimur Rahma).

All these Buzurgaan e Deen mentioned the same ruling about the wahabis.

This ruling remained established from their era, up to a very long time,

but when this country became free, then (these) sheep and goats also

became free, and they all became free (i.e. free thinking) in issues of

Madhab as well. This is why marriage relationships and friendships are

being forged with wahabis. Everything has started to happen.

These people go to perform Namaaz in their (bud-mazhab) Masjids, and

they (bud-mazhabs) come over to perform Namaaz in their Masjids. In

addition, if any Saudi (Wahabi) comes, then he is put onto the Mimbar to

lecture and they then perform their Namaaz behind him, and it is said the

Imam of the Haram has come. This they do not understand that an

illegitimate Imam has come. This they do not think. Think about what is

happening. Protect your Imaan.

This was the teaching of Peerji. Mine and Peerji’s Peer Huzoor Mufti e

Azam radi Allahu anhu used to also give the same teachings. The Peer of

Huzoor Mufti e Azam radi Allahu anhu, Hazrat Noori Mia alaihir Rahma

used to also give the same teachings, his Peer Hazrat Sayyiduna Aale

Rasool e Ahmadi radi Allahu anhu used to give the same teachings, and

34

Aala Hazrat radi Allahu anhu also gave the same teachings, and in the

same manner all our Ulama e Kiraam gave the same teachings before

India was taken over by the British.

How did India fall to the British? It happened when the English bought of

Ismail Dehlvi, and when Sir Sayed Ahmed Khan wrote a book called,

‘Taarikh Ahle Englishiya’ in which he wrote that in Delhi there was a

group known as wahabis, and they said that it was Haraam to perform

Namaaz in any Masjid under the control of the Shah, meaning Bahadur

Shah Zafar.

Who was doing this? The wahabis! Sir Sayed himself was a wahabi. It is he

who is writing this. From this it becomes clear that the wahabis had a

huge hand and role in making the British powerful in India. Have you

realised this?

In that time, those who fought against the English were Hazrat e Maulana

Fazl e Haq Khayrabaadi, our great grand Ustaad and Hazrat e Maulana

Fazlur Rahmaan Badayouni, and Hazrat Maulana Mufti Inaayat Ahmed

Kakorwi, who is the author of Ilmus Segha, and many other Ulama e Ahle

Sunnat, who were charged by the British Government for treason. In

addition, they were imprisoned in the Andaman Islands, and even today,

the Mazaar of Hazrat Maulana Fazl e Haq Khayrabadi alaihir Rahma is

standing in the Andamans.

35

It is announcing and bearing testimony that those who were martyred for

standing up against the wahabis and the British are today still present in

that part of India, on an Island surrounded by the sea.

No one can show that any wahabi was sent to the Andamans to face any

punishment or charge. These people actually received monthly financial

aid. It is written in Ashrafus Sawaaneh about molvi Ashraf Ali thanvi that,

‘Hazrat used to receive a monthly amount of 600 rupees from the British,

but Hazrat did not know from where it was coming.’

He was receiving the money, but they say that he did not know where it

was coming from. He knew very well where it was coming from, but they

were hiding it. Why was he receiving this financial aid?

This 600 rupee financial aid is from that era in which the highest earning

Ulama used to receive between five, five and a half, and six rupees. Do you

understand? This was in that time (that he was receiving 600 rupees from

the British).

Ashraf Ali died long before my time and has gone to hell long before my

time, but let me tell you that in my young age, when I first started

earning, my salary was seventy five (75) rupees, and people then used to

say that I was earning a hefty salary.

Today, if a person earns 75 rupees a day, it is still counted as nothing. This

was in that time, now think for a while as to why he was receiving this

600 rupees. This was so that they could spread deviance.

36

All this information was present in books which Peerji had. He would

show it to the people and say, there read for yourself.

Now, we should all continue making Dua for his status to be elevated and

we should continue making Esaal e Thawaab for him. And one method of

Esaal e Thawaab that we should keep established, is that we should

remain steadfast on the way and manner of Peerji alaihir Rahma, which

is,

‘Dushman e Ahmad Pe Shid’dat Kijiye

Mulhido Ki Kya Murawwat Kijiye

Shirk Tehre Jis me Tazeem e Rasool

Us Burey Mazhab Pe La’nat Kijiye’

May Allah send down immense rains of Mercy and Light upon his grave.

Aameen.
