La’Ofek’s ‘Life- Changing’ Programs

We Are Lighting Up Their Lives

Shomrei has been most proud to partner with Rav Rimon and La’Ofek for the past 14 years.

As a result of the financial support of Shomrei members, La’Ofek has been able to continue to help Israel’s vulnerable sectors, bringing them new hope and promise.

The Ta’aschayil program found work for more than 1,000 at-risk and lone soldiers, who were given individual help, a supportive shoulder, and a listening ear. In total, throughout the years, 8,000 soldiers were assisted in finding suitable employment.

The Achotenu program has enabled 80 Ethiopian-Israeli young adults to study on an academic track of nursing and occupational therapy at the Hebrew University. There was a special celebration this past summer as the first cohort of nursing students graduated and joined Israel’s medical system.

The New Dawn program provided 95 Corona unemployed individuals with professional help. A total of 34 are currently working; and others are on various tracks toward satisfying employment.

Shomrei Emunah, like all shuls, depend on the support of our membership. The backbone of our budget is the money that comes in via these means. What your money does is provide the means to continue building our thriving Shul.

Let's take a look at some of our amazing numbers:

• In just the past year, our shul has welcomed over 50 member families!

• On a weekly basis, our Shul offers a tremendous variety of shiurim targeted to all segments of our diverse Shul community, led by the Rav's 10 weekly shiurim.

• Our Youth Program is the biggest and most developed in Baltimore, offering groups and programming for kids of all ages, and programs and events built around Shabbos and Yomim Tovim.

• Our minyanim run non-stop over the course of a day, again serving as the community Shul.

• Our doors open to well over a thousand people from all walks of life over the course of a regular weekday.

You can see that we depend on you to continue our growth!

Once again, our Board has voted to not raise membership rates for the upcoming year. The end of the calendar year presents an opportunity to make your tax-deductible contributions and pay for the upcoming year's membership, which is both wise and important for our Shul.

As the end of the year is approaching and we are cleaning up all of our accounts, we are billing everyone at the regular rate. If there is a continued need for a discount, please be in touch with the office (office@shomreiemunah.org), Kenny Friedman (president@shomreiemunah.org), or Itzi Barr. It is the shul’s long standing policy that no one is ever turned away for financial reasons.

Membership dues, shul donations, and pledges can be paid in a number of ways. Payments via cash, credit card, or check can be made in the shul office. Credit card payments can be made online by visiting our website, www.shomreiemunah.org.

Shomrei also has accounts at Vanguard and Morgan Stanley and can accept donations of appreciated stock or mutual fund shares. You may receive a tax deduction for the full market value of the donated shares and avoid paying capital gains taxes on the appreciated value should you have sold the shares yourself. If you have a large balance to our Shul, you will be approached to enter into a payment plan or suitable method of fulfilling your responsibility.
