5 Places to see:

A mini guide of what we find important when visiting London.

1. The London EyeThe London Eye is a major feature of London's skyline. The world's highest observation wheel offers spectacular views of London's most famous landmarks - in just 30 minutes.

2. Houses of Parliament and Big BenTamambo demonstrated with a dip how to spot the Big Ben. Trust us, he can’t move the real one! Well worth the walk next to the river.

3.Trafalgar Square and National GalleryThe National Gallery houses one of the greatest collections of European painting in the world. With paintings by Botticelli, Leonardo da Vinci, Rembrandt, etc. Not to forget the huge square upon which leads up to it, Nelson’s column stands high.

4.Towers of LondonTake a free guided tour with one of the Yeoman Warders around one of the most famous fortified buildings in the world. Discover its 900 year history as a royal palace and for tress, pr ison and place of execution, mint, arsenal, menagerie and jewel house.

5.Buckingham PalaceTake a walk around the Queen’s home and see her backyard, St. James Park. Also see the famous change of guards here.

Flying into London is

pretty simple if you know where to connect to the different forms of transport into the city. The budget airlines operate generally from airports that are usually farther out than expected.

However, due to the central location of Kings Cross St Pancras Station it doesn’t really make a difference where you fly from anymore. If all roads lead to Rome, SOS ’09 certainly got Kings Cross right when it comes to the airports.

From Luton AirportTake the Free shuttle bus to Luton Airport Parkway Train Station and take a direct train to London St Pancras Station. Travel time: 21-35 min

From Stansted AirportTake the Stansted Express train to Tottenham Hale and then change on to the V ictor ia L ine tube (underground metro) to London K ings Cros s S t Pancras Stat ion. T ravel time: 35 min

From Gatwick AirportTake a d i rect t ra in to L o n d o n S t P a n c r a s Station. Travel time: 35 min

From Heathrow AirportTake the Piccadil ly Line t u b e ( u n d e r g r o u n d met ro) d i rect to K ings Cross St Pancras Station. Travel time: 45 min

Save in transport around London with Oyster Card

The Oyster card is a magnetic pre-pay travel card that allows you to move around London by public transport. By touching it on a magnetic reader on the bus, underground and some train services is quick and efficient. These card can be bought a t any underground and train station in the Southeast, costing £3 in order to get your card (refundable). After that, you may top-up your credit as necessary.

London dancers are

quite a different breed of people when it comes to dancing. These Salseros/as are very approachable and unlike some cities in Europe, it is uncommon to get turned down for a dance.

FACT: DID YOU KNOW THAT LONDON HAS MORE SALSA CLUBS PER SQUARE MILE THAN NEW YORK?

I t i s a l w a y s v e r y

annoying when Salseros/as go out to have a good t i m e , y e t t h e y w o n ’ t d a n c e u n l e s s s o m e o n e asks them to. They way L o n d o n w o r k s i s q u i t e s i m p l e : I f y o u w a n t a dance, you are going to have to ask.

H a n g i n g b y t h e s i d e usual ly means that you wil l get bored and end up not dancing all night. This wil l then translate into you having the worst time of your l ife and you wil l end up hating the event itself.

Salseros/as in London are qu i te pass ionate about dancing. As keen dancers they love to meet and dance with new people, so tell them that you’re v i s i t i n g a n d d o n ’ t b e afraid to ask!W i t h a n i n c r e a s i n g

So, as some would say: don’t watch me, DANCE!

SOS ’09 WEEKEND PARTIES INFORMATION

Today’s Salsa S cene

The Artistic perception of Salsa has reached a turning point.

Once thought of it as merely a past-time, Salsa (and Salseros for that matter) have seized the opportunity of promoting Salsa in a completely different manner to what it once used to be. On the dance floor it is the law of the fittest, on the stage it is the new Contemporary, the feather-light ballet, the suave Jazz.

The Salsa movement is radically changing the w a y t h e d a n c e i s interpreted and perceived by the naked eye.

SOS ’09 promises a line-up of different flavours a n d a l l o w s f o r interpretation of all kinds. You’re going to laugh, you’re going to sigh, you’re going to scream and you’re going to feel love. Whatever it is that moves you, there’s bound to be something that will take your like. Enjoy the shows!
