From the Celestial Boxes - Black (A), fussy cut:• (15) 6 ½” x 6” blocks.

From the Planets - Navy (B), cut:• (60) Template 1 triangles.• (2) 2” x WOF strips. Sub-cut strips into (30) 2” squares.

From the Solar System Stripe - Blue/Black (C), cut:• (2) 8” x 76” length of fabric (LOF) strips.• (2) 8” x 67” LOF strips. From the Metallic Dot - Black (D), cut:• (5) 3 ½” x WOF strips. Sub-cut strips into (60) 3 ½” squares.• (3) 2” x WOF strips. Sub-cut strips into (60) 2” squares.• (2) 2 ⅜” x WOF strips. Sub-cut strips into (30) 2 ⅜” squares.• (60) Template 1 triangles.

From the Folio - White on White (E), cut:• (3) 2” x WOF strips. Sew the strips together end to end with diagonal seams and cut (2) 2” x 54 ½” strips.• (3) 2” x WOF strips. Sewing Instructions1. Sew (1) 2” x 6” Fabric E strip to each side of (1) 6” x 6 ½” Fabric A block. Sew (1) 2 ¼” x 9 ½” Fabric E strip to the top and to the bottom of the Fabric A block. Trim the block to measure 8 ½” square to make (1) A block (Fig. 1). Repeat to make (15) A blocks total.

2. Sew (1) 1” x 8 ½” Fabric F strip to each side of (1) A block. Sew (1) 1” x 9 ½” Fabric F strip to the top and to the bottom of the A block to make (1) Block One (Fig. 2). Repeat to make (15) Block Ones total.

3. Place (1) 2 ⅜” Fabric E square on top of (1) 2 ⅜” Fabric D square, right sides together. Draw a line across the diagonal of the top square (Fig. 3). Sew ¼” away from each side of the drawn diagonal line (Fig. 3). Cut the two squares apart on the drawn diagonal line (Fig. 4) to make (2) DE units (Fig. 5). Trim the DE units to measure 2” square. Repeat to make (60) 2” DE units total.

4. Place (1) Fabric D-Template 1 triangle on top of (1) Fabric B-Template 1 triangle, right sides together, aligning the left sides (Fig. 6). Sew the two triangles together along the left side. Press the smaller triangle open. Trim the block to measure 2” x 3 ½” to make (1) DB unit (Fig. 7). Repeat to make (60) DB units total.

5. Sew (1) 2” Fabric D square to the top of (1) DE unit. Sew this strip to the left side (1) DB unit to make (1) Unit 1 (Fig. 8). Repeat to make (60) Unit 1’s total.

6. Sew (2) 2” Fabric B squares and (2) 2” Fabric E squares together to make (1) Unit 2 (Fig. 9). Repeat to make (15) Unit 2’s total.

7. Sew (1) Unit 1 to each side of (1) Unit 2. Sew (1) 3 ½” Fabric D square to each side of (1) Unit 1. Repeat to make a second strip. Sew the strips to the top and to the bottom of the Unit 2 to make (1) Block Two (Fig. 10). Repeat to make (15) Block Twos total.

16. Sew the (7) 2 ½” x WOF Fabric F strips together, end to end with 45-degree seams, to make the binding. Fold this long strip in half lengthwise with wrong sides together and press.

Quilt Top Assembly (Refer to the Quilt Layout while assembling.)8. Sew (3) Block Ones and (2) Block Twos together, alternating them, to make Row One. Repeat to make Rows Three and Five.

9. Sew (3) Block Twos and (2) Block Ones together, alternating them, to make Row Two. Repeat to make Rows Four and Six.

10. Sew the (6) rows together, in numerical order, to make the quilt top.

11. Sew (1) 2” x 54 ½” Fabric E strip to each side of the quilt top. Sew (1) 2” x 48 ½” Fabric E strip to the top and to the bottom of the quilt top.

12. Center (1) 8” x 76” Fabric C strip on one side of the quilt top and pin in place. Start sewing the strip a ¼” from the top edge of the quilt top and stop a ¼” from the bottom edge. DO NOT TRIM THE EXCESS. Repeat with the opposite side.

14. Starting at the sewn seam (represented by the arrow in Figure 11), draw a 45-degree line to the edge of the fabric. Sew on the drawn line. Trim the excess fabric leaving a ¼” seam. Repeat this step with the remaining corners.

13. Repeat Step 12 to sew (1) 8” x 67” Fabric C strip to the top and to the bottom of the quilt top, making sure to stop and start ¼” away from each end of the quilt top. To miter each corner, fold the quilt top on a diagonal, wrong side together. This should line up the strips from adjacent sides (Fig. 11).
