A few months ago, Captain
Whitacre and Captain Ely par-
ticipated in a very interesting
class. OF course it is hoped
they never have to use that
knowledge to help a resident.
The Grain Bin Extrication level
1 class was put on by the Ohio Fire Academy with their mo-
bile trailer, which was built in Sept. 2012 by OSU seniors.

"Job Well Done' to MPD Officer Curt Ricker, MPD Officer Jeff Craw-
ford, MFD Firefighters Jimmy Swain, Matt Burgasser, and Matt
Podlogar (not pictured).
Officer Ricker was on routine patrol (had just stopped another mo-
torist in the area for a traffic violation and had cleared the stop).
and was flagged down by a passenger in a vehicle. She said that her
husband was having a medical issue (possible heart-attack). Officer
Ricker got the driver stabilized, and prepared him for CPR, while
Officer Jeff Crawford assisted him. The MFD was only seconds away.
Once on scene, the three listed firefighters conducted CPR and ACLS
and the patient was taken to Affinity for emergency treatment. Staff
from Affinity ER came to MFD today to issue the officers and fire-
fighters some awards and say "thank you". Officer Ricker asked Mr
Danny Borne how he was doing since the incident, and he said with
a smile, "Well, I start back to work tomorrow!".
Very cool. Great job, guys! U-70
