Costume Fees Costume Fees apply to ALL Recreational Classes and ALL

Competitive Choreography Classes. These can be paid at any

time once the season starts but are DUE by NO LATER

THAN October 24th, 2018.

Costume Fees that are not in by October 24th will be subject to

a 10% late fee. If we do not have costume fees in by

November 1st we will be unable to order a costume for your

child for the season or will have to do a special order where

you will be solely responsible for the shipping and

international fees.

Costume Fees:

Recreational Student: $100.00+gst/class

Pre Competitive Student: $145.00+gst/class

Competitive Student: $165.00+gst/class

Costume Fees Due By October 24th, 2018!

Solo Team Requests Students in our Pre Competitive and Competitive Programs have the option of participating on our

Solo Team for the 2018-2019 season! This includes solo routines, duets, trios or small groups

formed outside of regular choreography hours.

Members of this team must be extremely dedicated to dance! Participating in this optional program is

rewarding, creative and fun, but also demands extra practice time both with an instructor and

independently, extra financial costs for choreography, costuming, and competition entries and

potentially extra days missing school when students compete.

To request a solo for the 2018-2019 season, parents must simply email the SBDC Studio Office at

[email protected] prior to November 7th. Let us know in your email what kind of solo,

how many solos and what genre of solo your child would prefer. Please also let us know their

preferred choreographer. If you are unsure we can help you through the process to make the right

decision and final decisions are always left up to the SBDC Staff.

Solo Costs depend on the choreographer as well as the type of routine. For the 2018-2019 season

costs are as follows:

Solo Routine with Miss Kendra Choreography $400.00+gst

Solo Routine with Senior Staff Choreography $350.00+gst

Solo Routine with Junior Staff Choreography $250.00+gst

Duets and Trios Choreography $400.00+gst

Small Groups (4-5 dancers) Choreography $450.00+gst

Competition Entry Fees are on top of Choreography Fees. Generally the cost to enter a competition

is $95.00+gst for a soloist (per competition), $55.00+gst for a duet or trio (per partner/per

competition) and $50.00+gst for a small group (per member/per competition)

Competition Entry Fees are due by December 5th and include all entries for any routines on the

Solo Team!

Solo Team Choreography Fees are due by January 9th, 2019!

Dance Examinations We participate in dance examinations for Jazz, Tap, Ballet

and Acrobatics at our studio. This season our examinations

have been moved up as next summer we will be

participating in Dance The World Disney and it is our

intension to have examinations done prior to competition

season!

Examinations are a tool used by well trained studios to hold

teachers and students accountable for the technical content

and vocabulary required each year. These programs have

graded systems where students make goals to perfect

required steps and then are tested by outside sources for

feedback and in order to progress forward. These programs

do not align with school grades!

Students are recommended for examinations based on their

preparedness and ability to be successful! A student may

take more than one season to prepare for an exam grade.

This is not considered “repeating” in the dance world but

rather still working to obtain your goal. Exams are at an

extra cost and our staff would never recommend a student

who was not ready to participate! We pride ourselves on

helping each dancer achieve their own dance goals at their

own dance pace and work hard with our students to not

compare themselves to others or classmates but rather to

the dancer they were the day before!

If you have more questions about examinations you can

email [email protected] and speak directly

with one of our Senior Staff Exam Program Directors!

Dance Humor

Themed Holiday Parties @ SBDC

Each season we host a number of themed holiday parties at the studio! These are for current

students as well as kids who are not currently registered at our studio. This is a chance

for our Junior Staff to work their magic and participate in teaching dance, playing games,

imagination, crafting and more with kids ages 4-10. They are a great way for kids to get into

the holiday spirit, burn some serious energy and make friends. All funds go directly into our

dance props fund for our current dance season. To register you simply contact the SBDC

Admin Team@[email protected].

Coming Up:

October 27th Haunted Halloween Party (ages 4-10) 1:30-4:00pm

December 15th Holiday Celebration (ages 4-10) 1:30-4:00pm

Competition At SBDC we host one of the strongest competitive dance programs in the city

of Airdrie and Calgary area. Last year our students earned themselves the

overall highest mark awarded in both Jazz and Ballet Group Choreography at

one of the most prestigious competitions held in the area. They also took home

numerous other awards for groups, solos, and duets and included in that was

earning themselves both 1st, 2nd, and 3rd overall highest marking groups at Peak

Invitational.

This is highly due to the impeccable, creative, well trained teaching staff at

SBDC, the unparalleled and joyful work ethic or our students, and the

volunteering and passion of our amazing dance parents!

Each season we compete in a number of designated competitions in the Calgary

area. This season we will be participating in:

Kick It Up Dance Competition (FULL COMP TEAM)

(April 3rd-7th @ The Edge School for Athletes in Calgary, AB)

Peak Invitational Dance Competition (FULL COMP TEAM)

(April 29th-May 4th@Rock Pointe Church in Bearspaw AB)

Candance Competition (PRE COMP DO NOT ATTEND)

(May 8th-12th @ The Edge School for Athletes in Calgary, AB)

**an optional comp will be offered for the solo team

Competition Fees

Each student is required to pay an entry fee for each group that they participate

in for each competition that they are entered in.

Competition Group Fees are: $50.00+gst/dancer/group/competition

These fees are due to the studio office by no later than December 5th, 2018 as

our entries and payment must be made to each competition by December 15th.

Late fees will be subject to a 10% late fee on the total amount owing.

In additional to entry fees students must also pay a Stage Rehearsal Fee which

covers the cost of the rental of Bert Church Theatre where we practice routines

on the stage before we compete. This will be due by January 16th, 2019. The

cost is $20.00+gst/dancer/group for Pre Competitive Dancers and

$25.00+gst/dancer/group for Competitive+ dancers.

The final competitive fee is the Coaching Fee which is also due by January

16th, 2019. For Pre Competitive students this fee is $75.00, for all other

dancers the fee is $150.00. This covers coaching expenses for extra

competitive rehearsals, travel for teachers to competition, wages for teachers

during competitions and any extras that teachers take on in preparing our

students for competition. Our teachers work incredible hard behind the scenes

whether it is extra lessons to help students achieve their personal best, sewing

costumes, shopping for props or accessories or arriving early at comp to settle

students nerves; we are so lucky to have such an incredible staff!

STAY IN THE LOOP! We are working hard to make sure that parents have as much

information as possible to have a successful season of dance at

our studio! This includes 3 Annual Newsletters as well as a

Year End Recital Specific Newsletter, updates to our website,

email reminders, in studio bulletin boards and social media!

We will also be hosting competitive dance parent meetings,

posting pictures of hair and makeup requirements online for

recreational and competitive students and more!
