Stand-Up Sit-Down: Comics in Conversation Dom Romeo’s interview show returns to the Melbourne International Comedy Festival in 2013 Thurs-Sun 28 Mar – 20 April 11pm (10pm Sun) Acacia Room Victoria Hotel What goes on tour stays on tour… until it’s revealed in StandUp SitDown! Your favourite comedians talk about their work and life, lifting the lid on how and why they do what they do. “Wow, that’s a good question – nobody’s ever asked me that,” you’ll often hear a comic say during the show – before you get to hear them say something they’ve never told anyone. This ‘Inside the Actors Studio’ of Comedy is presented by comedy nerd extraordinaire Dom Romeo and his guests include some of the funniest comics at the Festival. Dom has contributed to Australian comedy just about forever, his work appearing in the likes of GQ, Men’s Style, FilmInk and broadcast on ABC, FBi and 2GB. His blog is archived by the National Library and his dedicated comedy podcast Radio Ha Ha predated all the others you listen to now. Look forward to the comedy scene more up close and personal than you’ve ever seen it before. Background : The idea for StandUp SitDown belongs to Fiona O’Loughlin. She was headlining at an intimate Sydney comedy club whose second house consisted, predominantly, of the audience that had been in the first house, and so rather than repeat the same show for the same audience, she decided to take a risk. Spotting dedicated comedy nerd Dom Romeo in the second row, she asked how the audience would feel about him interviewing her live instead. They were cool with it, so he asked her some questions, one of which he thought he knew the answer to. An answer that was pretty closetothebone, but still an entertaining, hilarious story in and of itself. Only, the question led to a different answer. A different story. Still hilarious, but more intimate, personal and revealing… perhaps even more than her standup. And that was just the first question. By the end of the night, Fiona had led us into the comedian’s inner sanctum, giving us an amazing glimpse beyond the killer punchlines. The audience loved it. And so did Fiona. Which is why she suggested it should be not just a Festival show, but a Festival tradition: “a kind of Inside the Actors Studio of comedy”. The tradition continues.

Dom Romeo’s interview show returns to the Melbourne International Comedy Festival in 2013

Thurs-Sun 28 Mar – 20 April 11pm (10pm Sun) Acacia Room Victoria Hotel

What  goes  on  tour  stays  on  tour…

until  it’s  revealed  in  Stand-Up  Sit-Down!

Background:      The  idea  for  Stand-Up  Sit-Down  belongs  to  Fiona  O’Loughlin. An  answer  that  was  pretty  close-‐to-‐the-‐bone,  but  still  an  entertaining,  hilarious  story  in  and  of  itself.      Only,  the  question  led  to  a  different  answer.  A  different  story.  Still  hilarious,  but  more  intimate,  personal  and  revealing…  perhaps  even  more  than  her  stand-‐up.
