Tips for coping in the hot weather Shut windows and pull down the shades when it is hotter

outside. You can open the windows for ventilation when it is cooler.

Avoid the heat: stay out of the sun and don’t go out between 11am and 3pm (the hottest part of the day) if you're vulnerable to the effects of heat.

Keep rooms cool by using shades or reflective material outside the windows. If this isn't possible, use light-coloured curtains and keep them closed (metallic blinds and dark curtains make the room hotter).

Have cool baths or showers, and splash yourself with cool water. Drink cold drinks regularly, such as water and diluted fruit juice.

Avoid excess alcohol, caffeine (tea, coffee and cola) or drinks high in sugar.

Listen to alerts on the radio, TV and social media about keeping cool.

Plan ahead to make sure you have enough supplies, such as food, water and any medications you need.

Identify the coolest room in the house so you know where to go to keep cool.

Wear loose, cool clothing, and a hat and sunglasses if you go outdoors.

If you have any concerns get medical advice.

Keep Mobile AGM The Annual General Meeting of Keep Mobile was held on the 14th April. The meeting was chaired by Fred Rule, Chairman alongside committee members Gisela Sharpe, Treasurer, Mike Gore, Doug Southwick and Ian Urquhart. The AGM was open for anyone to attend with an interest in the running of Keep Mobile. Amongst those attending were Gareth Barnard, BFC, Richard Rampton, Finchampstead PC and Alison Swaddle, WBC. There were questions fielded towards the end of the meeting with the main subject raised being the services offered by Keep Mobile being stopped (The Twyford Shopping Bus). If anyone has any concerns about services no longer being offered by Keep Mobile they can contact their local MP to let them know of their problems. This type of interaction is vital for Keep Mobile to obtain the funding they need to keep services running. The meeting was well attended with lots of lovely food and refreshments available at the end. Keep Mobile looks forward to seeing you at the next year’s AGM, which will be held on 13th April 2019, put it in your diary.

Keep Mobile at Risk

Some of you may have heard that your service is under threat. The government is proposing to introduce regulations that will exclude us from providing the affordable service we now provide. They want us to comply with the EU regulations that came into affect in 2009 with the introduction of Section 19, which the government failed to act upon at that time. It means that we can only employ bus drivers with the licence large bus drivers are required to have. We need everyone to know about it so that you could help. We need you to tell your family, friends, carers, doctors, in fact everyone you meet. For more information and where to write to we have produced a leaflet giving details of what to do next, this is enclosed. Carrying on the issue of section 19 has led to our Chairman Fred Rule and our Manager Sally Gibson attending a debate at the Houses of Parliament in May to hear the issues that section 19 would bring to us at Keep Mobile.

Who are we? Training Concerns was established in 2014, it is a limited company registered in England. Training for MiDAS has been provided since 1996 to organisations Country wide. We came together to set up this company as we felt there is a need out there for community transport training and training for carers so all organisations can provide a high quality service to its local community. Garlic Potato Salad Serves 6

Ingredients

1kg small waxy potatoes 1 egg

2 egg yolks 1 teaspoon Dijon mustard

salt, to taste 160ml olive oil

2 garlic cloves, crushed 2 to 3 tablespoons lemon juice

1 small bunch chives, chopped Method Prep:15min › Cook:25min › Ready in:40min

1. In a large saucepan with boiling salted water cook the unpeeled potatoes until easily pricked with a fork, but not so soft that they fall apart. Drain and peel while still warm.

2. Whisk the egg and egg yolks with mustard and salt in a food processor until thick and creamy. Add the oil, a drop at a time, while the food processor is turned on. As the mayonnaise thickens and becomes shiny, the oil may be added in a thin stream. Finally add garlic and lemon juice and stir well.

3. Cut potatoes into thick slices and mix with 120g mayonnaise or more to taste. Add chives. Keep potato salad and remaining mayonnaise chilled in the fridge until serving.
