Welcome to the eighth St Werburghs Arts Trail which takes place in houses, shops, parks, pubs, community spaces, and other local venues. Look out for workshops and live performances of music and other creative activities throughout the weekend. Please use the map to guide you to the venues which will have the colourful bunting outside and follow extra signs to the more out-of-the way locations. Conducted by Dee Jarlett, they perform favourite unique polyphonic Gaswork's arrangements. Diverse songs from different eras, continents and cultures are performed acappella with gusto, passion and humour. Pop songs are mixed with mellow jazz and folk, world and a touch of classical. They use hessian bags for the base of the rug and free off-cuts from the many local tailors and dressmakers. I supply the tools and the training and they make their own designs. All the profits go back to The Gambia. In some cases the income is an important supplement to a poorly paid job, in others it means that the person who made the rug can eat! Tanja Helmold: Jackson Pollock is Bollocks! - Saturday 1-3 pmJackson Pollock's dribble paintings are selling for millions. Come and make your own million pound art work in Mina Road Park. Suitable for everyone who likes to get messy with paint. Do not wear your best clothes and shoes.Tanja facilitates art workshops in a range of educational and community settings and has worked as a Lead Artist on various large-scale participatory public art projects and works as an arts co-ordinator for events and festivals. Lights in the park - Saturday 1-3 pm and 8:30-9 pmLet's light up the park! Come and make your bit of the light installation that will take part in the park after dark. We will use cardboard, tracing paper and colours to create a variety of lighting objects. In the evening, you can come and place your light in the park.
