A NOTE FROM OUR PASTOR
Hopefully we have completed our shopping and amidst the wrapping of gifts, we can prayerfully reflect upon the awesome present our Heavenly Father gave us and continues to give us – His very Son, our greatest source of peace, hope, and joy.
Jesus Christ is God's ultimate expression of divine love for the world, entering into and sharing our humanity, actively involved in our lives, calling us to be trans-formed by the Lord's healing, merciful, reconciling, and guiding love. The greatest gift all parents can give their children is not material. It is a living faith in a loving God. Please look for opportunities in the next few days with family and friends to express with deep love how much your faith means to you. People ask me how I like my "new assignment at St. Vincent". They are surprised to realize that I've been here almost 2 years. I can genuinely say that being here with all of you is an extraordinary gift that keeps on giving. May we continue to pray for one another and for those yet unnamed people who will be worshiping here 50, 100, 150+ years from now.
ST. VINCENT de PAUL SCHOOL
NEWS On December 5th, the Middle School classes of
St. Vincent de Paul Parish School visited Nativity of the Lord Jesus Parish. They participated in “Advent”ure. The classes visited a Bethlehem Market where they ground dried herbs into sachets, made weavings, jewelry, clay pots, dreidels and tasted foods from the region including olive soup, hummus, figs and other delicious treats. Also, the learners went on a spiritual journey starting with the song, O Come All Ye Faithful, and they journeyed through the story of the birth of Christ and witnessed a replica of the cave where Jesus spent his first night. Finally, the learners went on a scavenger hunt to see the unique variety of nativity scenes from all over the world on cloth, wood, marble and even Legos!
Congratulations St. Vincent de Paul 8th grade student Katherine O'Connor, who has received an Irish Academic Scholarship at St. Vincent-St. Mary High School. The Irish Academic Scholarship is a four-year renewable scholarship awarded to students who have received the 30 highest scores on our Fall scholarship/placement tests. Katherine performed within the top 12.4% of all who took the STVM entrance test this Fall.
SECURITY IMPROVEMENTS
Your safety and security are very important to us. For the last few years, we have provided a security guard during the weekend Masses to help monitor activity in our parking areas and assist those attending Mass. Due to recent activity outside of these times, we felt it was wise to increase security on our parish grounds. Thanks mainly to a grant from the State of Ohio, we recently upgraded our security and added seven cameras allowing us to monitor all parking areas, entrances, and our playground for 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. A DVR system records activity so that even in times when a security guard is not present, the images can be viewed at a later time. If you ever have a security issue while parked at St. Vincent, please inform our Business Manager, Connie Pacanovsky. Her contact information is on the inside cover of this bulletin.
The ST. VINCENT DE PAUL SOCIETY and WOMEN’S AUXILIARY along with the ST. VINCENT KNIGHTS OF COLUMBUS thank you for your continued generosity in supporting our Holiday food delivery program.
Your food donations along with financial support (green envelopes) has allowed our Parish to provide food for over 80 families with 125 children and 135 adults both at Christmas and Thanksgiving. THANK YOU FOR YOUR CONTINUED SUPPORT!

REVITALIZE, RENEW AND REJOICE! UPDATE ON OUR $1.6 MILLION
CAPITAL CAMPAIGN
Thank you for your faith, gratitude, and generosity as you consider what you will be able to give to our Capital Campaign. Several people have stated that they look forward to this opportunity to continue the St. Vincent legacy passed on to them.
Some people have asked how to return their pledge. You can mail your pledge to the parish office with the envelope you received or put it in the offertory collection or bring it personally to the rectory. Please consider returning it soon; and, remember, if it is a pledge, it can be paid over a three-year period.
We appreciate the response from our parishioners and friends. As of December 18, we have received pledges totaling $740,001 for 46.25% of our goal.
We welcome our special guests who visit or come home to our 180-year-old faith family to celebrate the birth of Jesus. If you would like to help us preserve our church, school, family center and cemetery, please review a packet of information available at the exits and in the pews to learn more about our campaign. May God bless you for considering our needs.
Please contact our director of development, Mary Anne Beiting, for more information.
