REFLECTIONS – Third Sunday of Lent - It is always tempting to look at what others do and evaluate our own behavior in that light. It can make us feel very good and satisfied with ourselves. The problem is that we are using the wrong yardstick. We are not to compare ourselves with others. The yardstick we are to use is Jesus. He has told us how to behave and showed us by example. According to that measure, there is always room for improvement. Lest we become discouraged. Jesus has also told us that the Spirit will be with us. Pray for the grace to see yourself clearly and for the courage to grow and change.

“Bless the Lord, O my soul, and forget not all his benefits. He pardons all your iniquities, he heals all your ills.” - Psalm 103:2-3

After many years of faithful and dedicated service, Mr. Tony Mouton (the choir director for our 10:30am Sunday choir), has decided to step down due to health reasons. Therefore, Nativity of Our Lady Church is looking for a new choir director for our 10:30am Sunday Masses. This would be a paid position and responsibilities would involve having strong piano and/or guitar skills and being able to choose music for the upcoming Masses. When new music is being learned, it would also involve having a practice with the choir during the week. If you know someone who may be interested in learning more about this paid choir director position, please call Fr. Mario at our Church office (364-8360).

Nativity parishioner, Mr. Delbert Soileau, takes care of our beautiful prayer garden in between our church and our office buildings. He has asked me to ask our parishioners for an addition-al helper who could help him keep our prayer garden looking so nice. If you are interested in giving a few hours of your time each month, please call Polly at our church office and give your name and phone number. Mr. Soileau will meet with you and show you what is involved with maintaining our lovely prayer garden. Thanks, Fr. Mario

Nativity Altar Servers say Thank you The Nativity of Our Lady Altar Servers wish to say Thank You to all parishioners for their gen-erous contributions during last week’s fundrais-er. The Altar Server Coordi-nators, Lupe & Polly would like to thank the parents of the servers who helped last week also.

We are pleased to announce that arrangements have been completed with Acme Mausoleum Corpora-tion to build Phase 4 of our mausoleum here at Na-tivity of Our Lady. Acme Mausoleum has over 100 years of memorial experience and is the largest builders of mausoleums in the nation. They were the builders of our recent additions to our mausole-um and are here again offering the same trustworthy credentials and satisfactory service. Representa-tives will be contacting our families over the next few weeks to answer questions about the mausole-um and determine who is interested in making pro-visions for their families. The number of crypts se-lected before construction will determine the size of the mausoleum. Spaces are reserved on a first come basis, therefore anyone seeking information should either mail in the return card from the brochure be-ing mailed to you, or by calling Acme at 1-877-620-7875. To be assured of a selection of your prefer-ence, you should reserve your space now. Addi-tional brochures are located at the rear of the church for those who may not have received one in the mail.

The Feastday of St. Katharine Drexel is Thursday, March 3, 2016. A poster depicting the life of St. Katharine Drexel will be on display at the rear of the Church. St. Katharine Drexel was born in 1858 and died on March 3, 1955. She was an heiress who de-voted her life and fortune to serving the Eucharistic Christ through the Black and Native American peo-ple. She founded the Sisters of the Blessed Sacra-ment who served throughout the country, but espe-cially in Acadiana. At the time of her death, her Sis-ters were serving in 48 elementary schools (including St. Edward in New Iberia), 12 high schools and one college - Xavier University in New Orleans. She taught us how to live united in the Eu-charistic Christ. The Associates of the Sisters of the Blessed Sacra-ment will also conduct a Holy Hour on Saturday, March 5, 2016 at 2:00pm at St. Edward Church. A relic of St. Katharine will be venerated. All are in-vited.

A Safe Environment training for students and par-ents of grades 9th through 11th on Monday, March 7th from 6:30-7:30 pm and grades 4th through 8th on Tuesday, March 15th from 6:30-7:30 pm in the Parish Hall. These will be presented by a repre-sentative from Hearts of Hope. Call Brenda Romero, 365-3759 for any questions or concerns.

Upcoming Cenacle Retreat April 15 - 17, 2016

Finding Afresh the God of Our Longing This weekend retreat will help us explore fresh dis-coveries of God and our true selves. By appreciating the ever permanent but always surprising presence of God in our lives, we can discover the great “treasure in the field” which St. Matthew tells us is right under our noses (Matthew 13:44). God is manifested in the parameters and possibilities of our human journey.

Presenter: Rev. Simeon Gallagher, OFM, Cap Call Diane Armentor, one of the retreat captains, at 337-365-4498 for information about this retreat or information about any other Cenacle retreat.

We would especially like to acknowledge the Knights of Columbus who did a wonderful job preparing the dinner as well as Fr. Mario & Jared Babineaux for the live entertain-ment!
