Welcome all our visitors who are with us this week-end. You are always welcome… and we would love to have you join our parish family. You can find new pa-rishioner packets if would like to join us on the wel-come/information table in the gathering space. You can also find a book of our parish organizations and who to contact if you would like to join… maybe you can offer us something to improve our faith commu-nity. We all bring different gifts to the church and to the altar. It is our call to share those gifts.

Today is the Eighteenth Sunday of Ordinary Time. The Gospel reading for this weekend directly re-sponds to Qoheleth’s emptiness found in the 1st read-ing. We learn from the parable of the rich fool that earthly wealth does not matter to God. What matters is the direction of one’s life. We take these two read-ings and ask ourselves: Have we renounced greed? Is our life headed in the direction of the Kingdom of God? Does our life include the riches found in the teachings of Jesus?

Good luck Kevin Bertleff! This is Kevin’s last weekend with us as he completes his summer internship. Kevin has a retreat coming up, a few days of vacation, and then he heads back to the seminary. Kevin has been a huge help this summer. We will miss him. If you would like to keep in touch with Kevin you can reach him at: [email protected] or: St. Mary’s Seminary 28700 Euclid Ave. Cleveland, OH 44092

A few months ago, the Diocese released a requirement that people active in the parish will need to get finger-printed... those being around children and vulnerable adults. Because there was a flurry of questions raised about just who needed to be fingerprinted, the Diocese fine-tuned the requirements. Those who NEED to be fingerprinted are: Those who DO NOT need to be fingerprinted: All Diocesan employees Choir Members Catechists Volunteers who work parish dinners Children’s Liturgy of the Word Presenters In-church Eucharistic Ministers RCIA Leaders and Team Members Ushers Lay Leaders of Prayer Lectors Homebound and Nursing Home Visitors St. Vincent de Paul Society Members (contact SVDP Society in Warren) Knights of Columbus members who work the dining hall (contact dining hall) Everyone who needs to get fingerprinted will need to do so by April of 2020 and attend a training/information ses-sion. Information on locations is coming soon. If you attended a session prior to the fall of 2016, you will need to get recertified.
