From the Messy Desk of Fr. Rob Dear Parishioners: "Rejoice in the Lord always; again I say, rejoice. Let your for-bearance be known to all, for the Lord is near at hand; have no anxiety about anything, but in all things, by prayer and supplication, with thanksgiving, let your requests be known to God. Lord, you have blessed your land; you have turned away the captivity of Jacob." Philippians 4:4–6; Psalm 85 (84):1 Today we celebrate Gaudete Sunday. We light the third candle of the Advent Wreath, a rose candle, which symbolizes joy. We are not invited, but rather, commanded to rejoice. We rejoice because the day of our Messiah coming is drawing near. We rejoice be-cause of God’s immense love for us. He has humbled himself to become one like us by taking on human flesh. He is the innocent Lamb given to us. God loves us. Let us rejoice! It has been a busy yet joyful week. On Tuesday, the Young at Heart gathered for mass and then lunch at the 305 Wine Garage. It was a fun and festive time. Thank you to all who came. I look forward to our next gather-ing in January. On Wednesday, we had our parish pen-ance service. Thank you to Frs. Jenkins and Beidelman for their assistance. We had a great turnout. If you were unable to make the penance service this past Wednesday, I will be hearing confessions following the 6:30pm mass on Wednesday until 8pm. Also, Thursday evening, St. Michael’s will be having their parish pen-ance service. It is beginning to look a lot like Christmas! I am excited for these next several days. Have a blessed week! Fr. Rob
