CHRIST OUR LIFE

CATHOLIC REGIONAL

CONFERENCE

Save the dates - Sept. 29th & 30th -

for one of the largest Catholic

Conferences of its kind in the United

States. For more information, please go to:

ChristOurLifeIowa.com

Save the Date: Saturday, June 16th. Please help

welcome our newest STM parishioners with a welcome

meal after 5:15PM Mass in the church lower level.

The time is NOW for the Diocese of

Davenport to move forward and fill every

life with the joy of the Gospel though a

fresh encounter with Jesus Christ! Join

Bishop Zinkula in opening our hearts to the

Holy Spirit through “Vision 20/20: From

Pentecost to Pentecost”. This diocesan-wide effort will

begin with Listening Sessions in all parishes, schools,

and ministries in the Fall of 2018, followed by Regional

Conversations, and then a two-day Convocation in the

Spring of 2019. At the Convocation, we will celebrate

our unity in the joy of the Gospel and identify effective

ways in which to share the Good News with others.

In the Fall of 2019, we will take the next steps in our

parishes, schools and ministries. Finally, there will be a

diocesan celebration during Pentecost of 2020 to keep

the momentum going. Please prayerfully consider your

participation in Vision 20/20. More information to follow.

Included in our May "The Last Shall Be First"

collection for the North Liberty pantry were

many, many jars of peanut butter, lots of

different macaroni and cheese selections,

and numerous packages of fruit and

pudding servings. These "kid-friendly"

items requested by the pantry, coupled

with other food and non-food items, totaled

349 pounds. Thank you to all who contributed

to May's collection.

Our June collection weekend for the Coralville pantry

is June 23/24. In addition to food, please consider

donating the requested personal hygiene items of

deodorant, shampoo, and hand soap. If for any reason

collection weekend is an inconvenient donation time,

you may place items you choose to donate in the blue

barrels at any time.

Thank-you

Have you seen the sign that shows these letters and blank spaces, CH_ _CH, then asks, "what's missing?" Of course, the answer is, "U R." It's true. Only together can we be a complete church, a full representation of the Body of Christ in our community. That's why I am so grateful to all who have turned in their planning surveys regarding the possibility of a campaign for a new worship space at St. Thomas More Church and to all who have expressed their thoughts. Everyone's views are important and I hope that everyone also agrees that even if our ideas aren't the ones that are ultimately settled upon, because we are the Body of Christ, we will still give our support. Frankly, I think either plan could serve us well and I trust in God's guidance and the wisdom of others in helping make decisions. It's important also to know that our current drawings are just concept drawings to get us started. We are grateful for the work of architect and parishioner Jorge Lopez for the concept drawings and 3-dimension graphics on the webpage. If the planning study determines that we should proceed, the Diocese of Davenport Building Commission requires us to interview at least three architectural firms and hire one to work with a liturgical consultant who will help us arrive at a final design for a worship space. Clearly, the final plans are far from complete and we have a lot to consider before they are. But the first step is to determine if it is feasible to begin the process at this time. So please pray for our parish discernment. And please return your completed planning survey by June 12th. Everyone's voice is important. To fully be church, "UR" needed. And I am grateful for the fact that so many recognize that and are so quick to jump in and help. ---Fr. Chuck

A Prayer for our Parish Discernment God of all Creation, we praise you for your glory

revealed in our parish family. Guide us as we seek

to fulfill our parish mission in our growing

Corridor Community. Our patron, Saint Thomas

More, offered his life out of love for You. May our

sacrifices allow your Gospel to spread in our

community and enable us to be a parish for all

people in all seasons of life. With the divine

assistance of your grace, help us provide the

“More” our future demands.

We pray through Christ our Lord. Amen.

A Special Thank you! St Thomas More Youth Group cannot thank the Knight of Columbus enough for helping us so much with the concession stand during the musical! The food was fabulous and you guys ROCK!
