HEALING AND SALVATION The readings today speak of healing and salva-tion. In Second Kings, Naaman, a commander of the army of the king of Syria, develops leprosy. He goes to a stranger, a prophet from Israel, when no one else can cure his disease. Much to his surprise, after a simple bath in the river, he is cured. In Luke’s Gospel, Jesus cures ten lepers and sends them to the priest. Only one, a Samar-itan, returns to thank Jesus for his cure and only he hears the words, “Your faith has saved you.” The psalm and Timothy remind us that salvation involves justice, kindness, and faithfulness and forever links us with Jesus. In a world as broken as ours, both healing and salvation are neces-sary.

St. Thomas is preparing food for the “Table” at the Presby-terian Church every third Thursday of each month. We need potatoes, carrots,

ham, green beans, and milk. You may call the parish office to sign up for items that you can do-nate . Items may be brought to the office.

You are invited to join our prayer group every Thursday from 8am to 9am in the parish hall. We gather to talk about the scripture and for prayer support.

PRAYER GROUP

We will have the Adoration of the Blessed Sacrament on Friday, Novem-ber 1st, from 9am to 9pm. Mass will be celebrated at 12pm. Please come and join us for Adoration on this First Friday. We

invite you to sign up for an hour of adoration during the 12 hours. The sign-up sheet is on the parish bulletin board in the church hall. Please consider signing up for an hour to ensure we have every hour covered, and hopefully more than one person per hour can come.

40 DAYS FOR LIFE

All Saints' Day is a solemn holy day in the Cath-olic Church celebrated annually on November 1st. The day is dedicated to the saints of the Church, that is, all those who have attained heaven. It should not be confused with All Souls' Day, which is observed on November 2nd, and is dedicated to those who have died and not yet reached heaven. All Saints' Day is a Catholic Ho-ly Day of Obligation, meaning all Catholics are required to attend Mass on that day, unless they have an excellent excuse, such as serious illness. On November 2nd we celebrate the faithful de-parted, best known as All Souls which reminds us the living to pray for the departed that they may rise again as promised by Jesus to his fol-lowers. All Souls Day is not a Holy Day of Obli-gation, but we dedicate the month of November to pray for all the departed. To celebrate All Saints we will have a vigil mass on Thurs-day, October 31st at 7pm and mass on Fri-day, November 1st at 9:00am and 5:30pm.

ANUNCIOS DE LA PARROQUIA

En la Iglesia de Santo Tomás tene-mos la Adoración del Santísimo Sa-cramento el viernes 1 de noviembre de 9am a 9pm. El Santísimo Sacra-mento estará expuesto en la custodia en el altar para Adoración y oración hasta las 10pm y la misa se celebrará

a las 12pm en Ingles. Por favor venga y acompá-ñenos para la Adoración en este primer viernes. Invitamos que personas se registren para una Hora Santa. La hoja de inscripción está en el tablero de anun-cios en el salón de la iglesia. Considere inscribirse du-rante una hora para asegurarse de que tengamos por lo menos un adorador por hora, y si es posible más de una persona por hora.

Muy popular entre los latinos es la monjita francesa santa Teresita, con sus rosas y crucifijo en mano. No cabe duda que ella fue una gran mujer, pero no podemos olvidar otra monja carmelita, la Tereso-ta, o sea santa Teresa de Jesús (de Ávila). En 1970, esta hispana fue la primera mujer nombrada Doctora de la Iglesia gracias a sus profundos escritos. Teresa vivió en el siglo XVI, una época de mucha reforma. Después de haber pasado varios años como religiosa, se dio cuenta que su vida personal necesitaba conversión. Así fue que se puso a orar y practicar el recogimiento del alma. Ella confiesa que pasarían casi 15 años antes de que estas prácticas dieran fruto. Ella no se dejó vencer durante esos quince años y siguió insistiendo en la ora-ción hasta que Dios le concedió visiones y visitas celestiales. Su mística llena de gozos celestiales nunca la separó de la tierra. Ella no se escondía en la oración, mas bien salía de la oración para lu-char en el mundo. Ella inspiró la reforma carmelitana y sigue inspirándonos hoy con sus escritos.

ADORACIÓN AL SANTÍSIMO

Los papás y padrinos son los educadores principales en la fe del niño o niña. Por esta razón, los papás y padrinos deben asistir a UNA PLATICA para aprender de las responsabilidades que tienen ha-cia el crecimiento espiritual del niño o niña. Estas platicas se llevan acabo el

cuarto Jueves de cada mes a las 7:00pm en la iglesia. Les pedimos que por favor lleguen a las 6:45pm para registrarse para que su asistencia sea valida. Para mas información y requisitos por favor de llamar a la oficina parroquial al (707) 255-2949. En el mes de octu-bre la plática se ofrecerá el jueves 24 a las 7:00pm.

CLASE DE BAUTISMO

El Día de Todos los Santos es un día sagrado so-lemne en la Iglesia Católica que se celebra anual-mente el 1 de noviembre. El día está dedicado a los santos de la Iglesia, es decir, a todos los que han alcanzado el cielo. No debe confundirse con el Día de los Fieles Difuntos, que se observa el 2 de noviembre, y está dedicado a aquellos que han muerto y aún no han llegado al cielo. El Día de Todos los Santos es un Día Santo Católico de Obligación, lo que significa que todos los católi-cos deben asistir a Misa ese día, a menos que tengan una excusa, como una enfermedad grave. El 2 de noviembre celebramos a los fieles difun-tos, que nos recuerda a los vivos rezar por los difuntos para que puedan resucitar según lo pro-metido por Jesús a sus seguidores. El Dia de los Fieles Difuntos no es un día de obligación para los católicos, mas bien dedicamos todo el mes de noviembre para hacer nuestras suplicas a Dios por nuestros seres queridos que hay fallecido y que no han llegado a la presencia de Dios. As Jesus continued his journey to Jerusalem, he traveled through Sa-maria and Galilee. As he was enter-ing a village, ten lepers met him. They stood at a distance from him and raised their voices, saying, "Jesus, Master! Have pity on us!" And when he saw them, he said, "Go show yourselves to the priests." As they were going they were cleansed. And one of them, realizing he had been healed, returned, glorifying God in a loud voice; and he fell at the feet of Jesus and thanked him. He was a Samaritan. Jesus said in reply, "Ten were cleansed, were they not? Where are the other nine? Has none but this foreigner re-turned to give thanks to God?" Then he said to him, "Stand up and go; your faith has saved you."

En aquel tiempo, cuando Jesús iba de camino a Jerusalén, pasó entre Sama-ria y Galilea. Estaba cerca de un pue-blo, cuando le salieron al encuentro diez leprosos, los cuales se detuvieron a lo lejos y a gritos le decían: "Jesús, maestro, ten compasión de nosotros". Al verlos, Jesús les dijo: "Vayan a pre-sentarse a los sacerdotes". Mientras iban de camino, quedaron limpios de la lepra.

Uno de ellos, al ver que estaba curado, regresó, alabando a Dios en voz alta, se postró a los pies de Jesús y le dio las gracias. Ese era un samari-tano. Entonces dijo Jesús: "¿No eran diez los que quedaron limpios? ¿Dónde están los otros nue-ve? ¿No ha habido nadie, fuera de este extranje-ro, que volviera para dar gloria a Dios?" Después le dijo al samaritano: "Levántate y vete. Tu fe te ha salvado".
