LITURGY CORNER Lazarus Both Martha and Mary say to Jesus, “Lord, if you had been here, my brother would not have died.” Jesus purposely had delayed for two days coming to Beth‐any. Arriving after Lazarus was dead four days, Jesus could then reveal that death is necessary, but not the end. Out of death Jesus gives Life. Out of death Jesus re‐veals the deeper mystery of his own Per‐son: “I am the resurrection and the life.” Martha and Mary came “to believe.” Have we?

“In the sacred Host, He is present, the true treasure, always waiting for
us. Only by adoring this Presence do we learn how to receive Him
properly.” During Eucharistic Adoration, we "watch and wait", we remain
"silent" in His Presence and open ourselves to His Graces which flow
from the Eucharist. Let us love being with the Lord! There we can speak
with Him about everything. We can offer Him our petitions, our con-
cerns, our troubles, our joys, our gratitude, our disappointments, our
needs and our aspirations.
Come spend some time on Friday April 7, 2017 - 9am to 4:45pm, with our LORD JESUS CHRIST,
the best friend we can ever have. Embrace the joy of being in HIS presence which ultimately can
strengthen your faith. Fix your eyes on HIM, then listen a very moving experience. At approxi-
mately 4:15pm ‘The Liturgy of the Hours” is prayed by the community followed by Benediction. It
is crucial that The Blessed Sacrament never be left unattended. For this reason, a sign-up sheet
is posted in the Vestibule to ensure someone is in company with our LORD always. This does
not mean that you must sign-up to come, not at all. Everyone is welcome at any time to experi-
ence this awesome feeling. When asked, "What would save the world?". Mother Teresa
replied: "My answer is prayer. What we need is for every parish to come before Jesus
in the Blessed Sacrament in holy hours of prayer."
Jesus waits for us in this Sacrament of Love

TODAY'S READINGS READINGS FOR THE WEEK
On Good Friday, a collection will be taken up in Catholic Churches to support the work of the Franciscans working in the Holy Land. Christians there rely heavily on the help that comes to them during this special day in the Church and our life of faith. The Franciscan Monastery of the Holy Land in America is the home of a world-wide Commissariat of Friars Minor and monasteries who function as bridges between the Holy Land and Christians all over the world.
The Pontifical Good Friday collection is applied to the following programs: * Faith, Memory & Culture - The Holy Places * Social & Charitable Activities * Educational & Scientific Activities * Pastoral Activities * Liturgical, Ecumenical & Communications Program

It wouldn't be Lent if we didn't pause to contemplate our demise. Part of the package deal of our mortality is that life ends. There are no exceptions to this rule. None of us enjoys talking about death. We pretend it won't happen to someone we love. But it will, and when it does, we need to HUG it ‐ Halt, Unpack, and Give it time.
When death happens, everything seems like a bad dream. You just can't believe your loved one is gone. Death disrupts your routine, and grief affects you physically. You can't sleep. You can't eat. Give grief your full attention. Someone you love has died. Avoid packing your feelings away. Take them out and express how you're feeling. Tell someone: I'm sad, lost, angry, con‐fused, or numb. Unpacking your feelings is the only way to understand them. You're hurting and your world is upside down. You go through your days not remembering most of what you've done. You're emotionally damaged, and you need time to heal. A little girl went to the wake of her grandmother. It was first time she'd been to a wake or funeral. As the girl and her aunt approached the casket, the girl curiously ventured, are we going to UPS Grandma to heaven?" This sweet and innocent story speaks to the mystery of death. Of course, no one is sent by UPS to heaven, but what is known about death and about the journey of our loved ones beyond this Earth? In the face of great loss and mystery, sometimes the only response we can muster is tears. At his friend Lazarus' death, this was Jesus' response too. And then he was able to do what is perhaps the greatest and clearest sign of his identity recorded in all of Scripture‐he raised Lazarus from the dead. By this sign, many came to believe that he was indeed, as Martha says, "the Messiah, the Son of God, the one coming into the world." However death arrives, this world isn't our final home. We all hope to "walk with God" into life everlasting. Entombed Lazarus is a sign not simply of a certain group of people who had obvi‐ously closed their hearts against Jesus, but of each one of us. This tomb is the place of resurrec‐tion, and if you believe, you will see the glory of God.
Wishing you an abundance of God’s grace and peace,
Fr. Robert K Chinnapan
