LITURGY CORNER A Reflection From Pope Francis… Dear brothers and sisters, our faith is based on the death and resurrection of Christ. On the Cross, Jesus offered Himself taking sins upon Himself going down into the abyss of death, and in the Resurrection He defeats them, He removes them and opens up to us the path to be reborn to a new life. The Risen Lord is the hope that never fails, God's hope never disappoints! How many times in our life do our hopes vanish, how many times do the expectations that we carry in our heart not come true! The hope of Christians is strong, safe and sound in this land, where God has called us to walk, and is open to eternity, because it is found‐ed on God, who is always faithful. We should never forget this; God is always faithful! Be risen with Christ …

Today our hearts are again filled with the joy of Easter. After the Lenten season, the time of penance and conversion, after the striking celebrations of the Holy Triduum, today we
stand before Jesus' empty tomb and meditate with wonder and gratitude on the Resurrection of the Lord. Life has conquered death. Mercy and love have conquered sin! The Lord has risen among us! This truth indelibly marked the lives of the apostles who, after the resurrection, again sensed the need to fol‐low their teacher and, having received the Holy Spirit, set out fearlessly to proclaim to all what they had seen with their own eyes and personally experienced. Christ's resurrection is not an event of the past. It contains a vital power which has permeated this world. Where all seems to be dead, signs of the resur‐rection suddenly spring up. It is an irresistible force. Easter is nothing without witnesses. Imagine this: if the women hadn't had the nerve to return to the tomb at dawn once the Sabbath ended, would any Galilean have ever returned to that sad place? It was dangerous to be known as a friend of Jesus. The men showed no interest in visiting the tomb, any more than they'd risked following Jesus to the cross. The women returned and because they did, the church became possible. The church began where our journey of Lent ends. We see many pieces of our season‐long reflec‐tion gathered in this final scene: a grave without a body. An angel and a bright light. A stone too big to hurl that's somehow been dislodged. Natural rules are broken, a door into eternity opens, and the chasm between death and life is brooked. The grief of yesterday becomes the wonderful truth of today. Promis‐es are kept, and the power of sin is destroyed. Without witnesses, what happened in this place would remain a secret. We are those witnesses. In the midst of darkness something new always springs to life and sooner or later produces fruit. We need faith and hope in order to open ourselves to this new and marvelous horizon. And we know that faith and hope are gifts from God, and we need to ask for them: "Lord, grant me faith, grant me hope! I need them so much!" Then with our attitude, with our witness, with our life, we can say: Jesus is risen!
What experience of new life do I most want to carry forward now that Lent has ended?
Wishing you an abundance of God’s peace and love,
Fr. Robert K Chinnapan

The 5th grade class of St. Philip Neri school presented the Stations of the Cross at SPN church last April 6, 2017. Led by their homeroom teacher, Mrs. Erin Lunde, the students
rehearsed for a month in preparation for this special presentation. It was a beautiful depiction of Christ’s passion and death.
Members of our parish were present at the Cathedral of Christ the Light last April 6, 2017 for the Chrism Mass. The Holy Oils were blessed by Bishop Michael Barber, SJ and
taken back to our parish.
