libertytown.org Marriage Tip: It’s natural for couples to have different strengths. This division of labor can save time. Some-times, however, it’s fun to teach each other a personal skill, like how to sew on a button. Teach each other something new today, but be patient.

Visit: www.foryourmarriage.org Baptism Prep Classes - meets on Tuesday, April 17th , from 7 – 9 pm in the Birch Library. You need only one godparent and this person must be Catholic; to have celebrated Confirmation; is at least 16 years of age, and is practicing the faith (attending mass each week and celebrating the sacraments.)

This is the last Sunday, that the RCIA Elect (those preparing for baptism) will be celebrating the Scrutinies. The scru-tiny rites are prayers of exorcism for the unbaptized to help them see sin for

what it is, turn away from sin and toward the light of Christ in the waters of Baptism. We repeat these prayers three times because it helps the Elect strengthen their resolve to reject sin and to cooperate with grace to see clearly the ways of God. The commu-nity of St. Peter’s join the Elect in praying that we, too, may see clearly the will of God.

ST VINCENT DE PAUL: Jesus says “Whoever serves me must follow me, and where I am, there also will my servant be. The Father will honor whoever serves me.” When we help the poor we are truly followers of Jesus, servant of the poor. Financial donations in the poor box & volunteers are needed. Volunteering entails only about a five-hour per month (1 day) commitment. 301-662-4676.

CATHOLICS RETURNING HOME: Has it been a while since you’ve been to church? Are you mad at the church or God? Please give us and yourself another chance! We invite you to join us for six informal sessions for non-practicing Catholics. We would like to know your feelings and try to address your questions. The meetings will be held on six consecutive Tuesdays, from 7 to 8:30 pm at St. Joseph’s Parish Hall in Emmitsburg beginning on Tuesday, April 17th. If you have any questions, please call Mary Myers at 301-447-2712 or email her at [email protected], or contact the rectory at 301-447-2326 [email protected]. ELECTRONIC FUNDS TRANSFER : Thank you to all those who have been using Electronic Funds Transfer, or EFT, and also to those who have just recently signed up to participate in this dependable and easy way to give your weekly donations to St. Peter’s. However, it was brought to my attention that since there are several months that have 5 Sundays, we may be shorting the church. So, when deciding to give a weekly amount you can use this formula to correct this issue: Weekly amount x 52 weeks then divide by 12. This will give you a monthly amount that can be easily donated through EFT while still accounting for those months with 5 weeks. The EFT program allows St. Peter’s to be more accurate in budgeting monthly expenses. If you are interested in more information, please call Liz at 301-898-5111 ext. 19. KNIGHTS OF COLUMBUS COUNCIL 13290: Meetings - Chapter of Grand Knights to meet on the 27th, at 8 pm…Family Dance resumes this Saturday at 7:30 pm…The council thanks all who attended and worked the St. Patrick’s Day Bull Roast… SpotLite - Council Officer Nominations: April is nomination month. Chairmen of our six service activities are also needed ( Church, Community, Council, Culture of Life, Family & Youth) ... **** Special Note - 11 months until our 10th anniversary gala. PARISH NURSE NOTES: Water Water is a substance that comes up many, many times in Scriptures, from the creation story, to the water of the Red Sea that God parted when Moses struck it with his rod, to the waters of the River Jordan, where Jesus was baptized by the Jewish prophet, John the Baptist. Water is core to our very existence, forming more than half of our bodies (and body weight!). It helps us stay healthy in myriad ways. When you stop and think about it, have a nice refreshing glass of water today! LADIES CLUB . The last Lenten Meal is this Friday, March 30th. Salmon cake dinner will be served.
