RELIGIOUS EDUCATION NEWS The Religious Education Program is open from 9:30AM to 2:00PM, Monday thru Thursday and Monday thru Wednesday nights 6:00PM – 8:30PM. Please call 429-8824 for more information. All sacramental information is past due. There were two important Confirmation meetings held for the candidate, parent and sponsor. If you did not attend this meeting, you need to meet with Mrs. Cobb on a Tuesday from 6:30PM or after class on a Monday. There will be a retreat for grades 1st, 2nd and 3rd graders who attend on Tuesday nights on Tuesday, April 5th during class time in the school gym. The office will be closed and there will be no class during Easter recess from March 23rd to March 29th. Classes resume on Wednesday, March 30th. Please continue praying for our students.
St. Gianna Mass – Thursday, April 28, 2016 This year’s St. Gianna Mass for couples suffering infertility and recurrent miscarriage will be on Thursday, April 28, 2016 – the feast of St. Gianna – at 6:30PM at the Church of St. Catherine of Siena 411 East 68th Street, Manhattan. Couples suffering infertility, as well as their families and friends, are cordially invited to attend. Following the Mass there will be veneration of the relics of St. Gianna; an opportunity to meet with Creighton Physicians and practitioners who specialize in assisting couples with infertility; and a light reception. PASTORAL COUNCIL Our parish Pastoral Council is planning to add new members to the Council to begin after the summer in September. The Pastoral Council works for the ongoing development of the ministries in our parish. New members will join with our current council when it meets for its’ annual year-end review and planning for the future. Service on the council includes a monthly meeting from September through June and a few hours of committee work between the regular meetings each month. If you would like to serve on the Council, please speak with Fr. Madden.

Misa de Santa Gianna – jueves 28 de abril del 2016 La Misa de Santa Gianna para parejas que están sufriendo de infertilidad o pérdidas será el jueves 28 de abril –Fiesta de Santa Gianna- a las 6:30PM, en la Iglesia Santa Catalina, en el 411 East Calle 68, Manhattan. Parejas sufriendo de infertilidad, así como sus familiares y amigos, con invitados cordialmente a asistir. Luego de terminada la Misa habrá veneración de las reliquias de Santa Gianna; una oportunidad de reunirse con médicos y practicantes de Creighton, los cuales se especializan en asistir a parejas con infertilidad y una recepción breve. CONCILIO PARROQUIAL Nuestro Concilio Pastoral está planeando agregar nuevos miembros para después del verano, en el mes de Septiembre. El Concilio Pastoral trabaja por el continuo desarrollo de los ministerios de la parroquia. Los nuevos miembros se reunirán con los miembros actuales cuando el concilio se reúna en su reunión evaluativa y de planeamiento de sus acciones futuras. Los servicios en el concilio incluyen una reunión mensual, entre Septiembre y Junio y varias horas de trabajo de los comités entre una y otra reunión mensual. PARISH MISSION In three weeks, on Saturday, April 30th, our parish mission will begin. Fr. James Villa, OFM Cap., (Capuchin Franciscan) will conduct the mission accompanied by Spiritfire Music Ministry, Mary and Carman Lando. The mission runs from April 30th through May 4th. Please plan on spending these days of prayer and peace here at St. Peter and St. Mary Church.
TWO FRIENDS OF ST. PETER AND ST. MARY CHURCH
Two good friends of our parish have been celebrating anniversaries this year: Sr. Justine Marcucci, FSP (Franciscan Sister of Peace) celebrates 75 years of religious life this year; Sr. Ann Smith, FSP, celebrates 65 years of religious life this year. For many years they ministered in the RCIA Program (Rite of Christian Initiation for Adults) in our parish. Many adults received their introduction to the Catholic faith through their efforts. They blessed our church through their presence at daily Mass and became good friends to many of our parishioners. They had served in the missions in Bolivia for many years working as catechists. They worked in many parishes and schools in New York and New Jersey. Sr. Justine and Sr. Ann were a wonderful life-giving, nurturing presence in our parish. They continue to be active in their current home: Marian Woods, 152 Ridge Rd, Hartsdale, NY 10530.
EASTER PLANT MEMORIALS We are grateful for donations for plants to decorate our church for Easter. On April 20th the 7:30AM Mass will be offered for all of the beloved deceased who are memorialized through Easter plant donations for our church. Thank you for helping to prepare our church for our celebration of the Solemn Feast of the Resurrection of the Lord.
ARCHDIOCESE FOR MILITARY AFFAIRS The Archdiocese for Military Services, USA, (AMS) was established by Saint Pope John Paul II in 1985 to provide the full range of the Catholic Church’s pastoral services to those in the United States Armed Forces. The mission of the Archdiocese is to “serve those who serve” by providing the same pastoral care and services as any other Catholic Diocese to Catholics serving in the United States Armed Forces, enrolled in U.S. Military Academies, undergoing treatment in any one of the 153 Department of Veterans Affairs Medical Centers in the U.S., Puerto Rico and Guam, working in civilian jobs for the federal government beyond U.S. borders, and the families of these populations. Programs and services vital to the unique mission and ministry of the Archdiocese include Vocations, Evangelization and Catechesis, Sacramental Records, Tribunal and Veterans Affairs.
MOTHER’S DAY NOVENA Our annual Mother’s Day Novena begins on Sunday, May 8th. Deceased and living mothers may be enrolled in this novena. Novena envelopes are in the boxed sets that our registered parishioners receive. Extra envelopes for those who need them are on the shelves by the front center doors of the church.

Dos buenas amigas de nuestra parroquia han estado celebrando aniversarios este año. La Hermana Justine Marcucci, FSP (Hermanas Franciscanas por la Paz), celebró 75 años de vida religiosa este año; la Hermana Ann Smith, FSP, celebró este año también, 65 años de vida religiosa. Durante muchos años ellas ejercieron su ministerio en el Programa RCIA (Rito de Iniciación Cristiana Para Adultos) en nuestra parroquia. Muchos adultos recibieron su introducción a la fe Católica a través de sus esfuerzos. Ellas bendijeron nuestra parroquia con su presencia en la Misa diaria y se convirtieron en amigas de muchos de nuestros feligreses. Ellas han servido en misiones en Bolivia por muchos años, trabajando como catequistas. Ellas han trabajado en muchas parroquias y escuelas en Nueva York y Nueva Jersey. La presencia de la Hermana Justine y la Hermana Ann nos alimentó y dio vida a nuestra parroquia. Ellas continúan activas en su hogar actual en Marian Woods, 152 Ridge Rod, Hastsdale, NY 10530
