On this Easter Sunday, open your hearts to receive God’s love, mercy and forgiveness. God is love and we are made in His image and likeness. Let our lives reflect His light to others. Pray for guidance on how to live your life and give thanks for all that He has given you.

Students of St. Paul School, parents, staff and others had an evening of enjoyment on Thursday, April 11, when they participated in STREAM in the school gym. You may have heard of STEAM or STEM, but we added an “R” for Religion. The other letters stand for Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts and Math. Most of those attending enjoyed the “egg drop” best. Children devised contraptions made from cylindrical plastic soup containers with other various materials into which they inserted a raw egg. Mr. Robert Kotel, standing on top of our scissor lift, dropped the containers from the ceiling to the floor below. The boisterous cheers and screams of the children heightened as we watched the free-falling contraptions. About 20 eggs out of 40 survived the drop. Students received certificates if their eggs survived the fall.
We appreciate your diligent stewardship of time, talent and treasure. Thank you to all our parishioners who do so many things to help our Parishes move forward into the future. Your hard work and generous contributions are particularly appreciated during the Easter Season. God bless you.
Easter Greetings to all of you from all the members of the Parish Staffs of St. Paul Parish and School and St. Patrick Parish. May our Risen Lord enrich you during this Easter Season! With love, prayers, and gratitude,
Father Bob Edwards
Father Bob’s Corner .
Dear Friends, …two men in dazzling garments appeared to [the women].…They said
to them, “Why do you seek the living one among the dead? He is not here, but he has been raised.” – Luke 24:4, 5, 6
Time is the gift we have been given to encounter the timeless: Jesus’ Resurrection from the dead. The awe-inspiring mystery of truth, beauty and goodness in our Risen Lord is too much for us to completely grasp in our lives. So, day by day, through the joys and challenges of life we strive to embrace our faith more deeply.
We may want to travel through the 50 days of Easter this year with greater gratitude and longing since the 75th Year Jubilee of our diocese will end on June 9, the feast of our diocesan patron, St. Columba. We have before us 50 days of Easter glory in which to bask in the light of Christ’s risen glory and pray that through the gift of the Holy Spirit we may grow together and persevere as one, holy, catholic and apostolic Church in the Diocese of Youngstown, Ohio.
Media coverage has assessed Pope Emeritus Benedict’s letter, “The Church and the scandal of sexual abuse,” in a number of ways and over a broad spectrum. You may read the whole document at www.catholicnewsagency.com.
