17th Sunday of Ordinary Time
When we are learning something new, it’s often the case that we learn better when we take things slowly so that we see how things work or how we handle them. For example, driving, playing a sport or doing artwork requi-res us to master basic skills before we go on to more complex ones. It’s the fundamentals that are important to build on. They become the foundation of creative expres-sion as well as mastery of technique.
During His public ministry, Jesus spends time in prayer and solitude and teaches His disciples the fundamentals of a relationship with the Father. Love, mercy, compas-sion, forgiveness and healing are all hallmarks of God’s relationship with His people. The Apostles want the loving and personal relationship with God that Jesus has. Jesus teaches them how to pray. It is not just the reci-tation of words, but an offering of praise, an ackno-wledgement of love and a re-quest for the things we need.
It’s easy to recite the Our Father from memory and fail to pay attention to the words. They’ve become so familiar and so routine that we can skim through them and complete the prayer, yet miss its meaning. Slow down. Listen to the words and pray them carefully. The Lord will teach you once again how to pray.

“Pedid y se os dará, buscad y hallaréis, llamad se os abrirá”, ¡qué difícil nos resulta pedir, buscar y llamar!. Pero, nos resulta difícil, porque no tenemos confianza en el Padre y no ponemos nuestro corazón en lo que pedimos.
Jesús, con estas palabras, nos llama a confiar plena-mente en Dios, a dejarnos llevar, tener una actitud de disponibilidad, de aceptación y, sobre todo, que no nos sintamos alejados del Padre.
Jesús confía plenamente en el Padre y para que sus oyentes, sus seguidores, lo entendamos nos habla poniendo los ejemplo de la amistad y de los padres. Cuando nuestro amigo necesita ayuda, ahí esta-mos para acompañar, acoger, compartir, porque la verdadera amistad es un tesoro que nos alegra la vida y un apoyo en la adversi-dad.
Cuando nuestros hijos necesitan de no-sotros, ¿qué padre o madre les niega la ayuda? Los padres no hacemos daño a nuestros hijos, les enseñamos el camino de la vida, los preparamos lo mejor que sabemos y después los devolvemos a la vida, pero ellos saben que siempre esta-remos ahí con nuestros brazos abiertos para acogerlos.

Ô ng no i: "Xin Chu a đứ ng gia n, cho con no i tie p: Gia nhứ ớ đo co ba mứới ngứớ i thí sao?" Chu a đa p: "Ne u Ta tí m đứớ c ba mứới ngứớ i, Ta se kho ng la m." Ô ng no i: Con xin ma n phe p thứa vớ i Chu a: "Gia nhứ tí m đứớ c hai mứới ngứớ i thí sao?" Chu a đa p: "Ví hai mứới ngứớ i đo , Ta se kho ng pha huy ."
