~Parish Mission Statement~
We are the Family of St. Maurice at Resurrection Parish joined together
sacramentally in Jesus Christ, sharing our skills and abilities across the world to
nourish all human hungers. We continually renew our energies by celebrating
around the Table of the Lord and grow to be more effective ministers
in the name of Jesus. Amen.
DAILY REFLECTION THE CROSS ROAD
"Blest are you, Simon son of Jonah! No mere man has revealed
this to you, but My heavenly Father." –Matthew 16:17
God the Father revealed to Simon that Jesus was the Messiah, the
Son of the living God (Mt 16:16). As with all divine revelations, this was
a catalyst leading to Simon's name being changed to Peter (Mt
16:18), Jesus building His Church on Peter (Mt 16:18), Peter being
given the authority symbolized by the keys to the kingdom of heaven
(Mt 16:19), and Jesus insisting on the cross as the essence of
discipleship (Mt 16:24). Peter naturally did not understand all these
further revelations, and did not initially accept the cross (Mt 16:22).
The Lord also reveals Himself to us. For example, He may penetrate
our hearts with the message of His mercy. This revelation is a catalyst
leading us to realize the necessity of giving mercy (Mt 5:7). This implies
taking up the cross of forgiving and loving even our enemies. Once
again, a divine revelation transports us to the cross. Then we are
faced with Simon Peter's dilemma. We are pleased to receive some
revelation from the Lord, but we may be reluctant to accept the
message of the cross. Will we embrace the cross, or hear the words of
Jesus to Peter: "Get out of My sight, you satan! You are trying to make
Me trip and fall. You are not judging by God's standards but by
man's"? (Mt 16:23) By faith, in love, take up your daily cross and follow
Jesus (Lk 9:23).
PRAYER: Father, may I proclaim Christ crucified, the power
and the wisdom of God (1 Cor 1:24).
PROMIS: Promise: "How deep are the riches and the
wisdom and the knowledge of God! How inscrutable His
judgments, how unsearchable His ways!" –Rm 11:33
PRAISE: "The Lord is King; let the earth rejoice" (Ps 97:1).

he pecado. Hace (PERIODO DE TIEMPO) desde
mi última Confesión.”
3. El penitente dice sus pecados y contesta
cualquier pregunta pertinente que el
4. sacerdote le haga.
Preparing for Confession
We use an examination of conscience to help call to mind our sins and failings during a period of quiet reflection before approaching the priest in Confession. It’s important for a good Catholic examination of conscience to be thorough. This will help you learn about things that you may not be aware of. It’s also a chance to develop your conscience. This is a critical aid for the beginning Catholic. To make an examination:
Set aside some quiet time for reflection.
Start by praying to the Holy Spirit, asking for help in making a good examination to prepare for Confession.
Read through the items on this list and honestly reflect on your behavior for each item.
If necessary, take this list or some brief notes (keep them private!) to Confession to help you remember things.
A Catholic examination of conscience traditionally follows the outline of the Ten Commandments and the Precepts of the Catholic Church.

Mother Mary’s Life Was Foreshadowed in the Old Testament
Mary’s life and role in the history of salvation is foreshadowed in the Old Testament and the events of her life are recorded in the New Testament. The prophecy of Isaiah 7:14 speaks of the “Virgin-Mother of Emmanuel”:
“Therefore, the Lord himself will give you a sign. Behold, a virgin shall conceive and bear a son, and His name shall be called Emmanuel.” Later in Isaiah, Emmanuel is re-
ferred to as the future Savior of His people. The prophet foretells an extraordinary future sign: that a virgin, without the cooperation of a man, would give birth to a child who will be “God with us”. This child would remedy the great
trials of division facing the people of Israel. Isaiah’s prophecy predicts the Virgin of Nazareth
and the birth of Jesus.
