Upcoming Events

The Daily Mass book is now open for the 2020 mass intentions.

St. Mary’s Rosary Society: meeting will take place on November 9th. It will start at 1:00 pm.

Parish Council: Will meet November 12th at 7:30 pm in the cafetería.

Ecumenical Thanksgiving Service: This event will take place on November 24th. At 3:30 pm. The host parish will be at Saint Michael the Archangel Cathedral in Passaic.

St. Mary’s Advent Tree Collection: This event will take place from November 24th to December 8th. It will benefit St. Peter’s Haven in Clifton.

Dear Friends in Christ,

This month our parishes are asked to take up a special collection for two different and important causes: Catholic Home Missions and the Archdiocese for Military Services.

The Catholic Home Missions assist dioceses and parishes in our country that simply do not have the financial resources to provide even basic pastoral services to Catholics. Ministries and services that are common in our own parishes, such as the Mass and the Sacraments, religious education, and ministry training are scarce in many parts of our country. These missions are located in areas such as Appalachia, the South and the Rocky Mountain States -- everywhere that Catholics are small in number but are great in their hunger for the richness of our Catholic faith.

A portion of the funds will also support the Archdiocese for the Military Services. This Archdiocese serves the pastoral needs of those in military installations in many countries as well as patients in V.A. Medical Centers. The priests, religious, and lay ministers in the Archdiocese for the Military Services serve over one million people. Having a Catholic presence available to those who serve us is a way to express our gratitude for their commitment to our country.

Please be as generous as possible when this combined collection is taken up in your parish. May God bless you and your family this Thanksgiving and always.

This Month’s Liturgy at a Glance The gospel of the Sundays in November mark the end of the year liturgical year and, at some point, can sound slightly gloomy. It is in November when warnings of the signs that mark the end of times and the calls to vigi-lance begin; but the beginning of the month is marked by the celebration of All Saints, which is central to all the people of God. Although in our native Hispanic countries, the Day of the Dead takes precedence, emphasis should be placed on November 1 as a special moment to recognize the holiness and the friendship with God of so many who have preceded us, as well as the many who are still with us. The end of the month is like the closing of the par-adox that begins in the readings of the Beatitudes on day 1. The Solemnity of Our Lord Jesus Christ, King of the Universe presents a man crucified as the king of the believers and, in fact, of all creation. The call to peace is reminded on both the Veterans’ holiday and the memory of St. Martin of Tours, the soldier who dropped his weapons to follow his faith. November is also a time to express gratitude for all we have re-ceived. We celebrate Thanksgiving Day, an important time for the country and one of profound religious meaning. A large number of American saints are also celebrated in November, which is a good time to reflect on those role models closest to us. Several countries celebrate Mary under various titles, among them: Our Lady of Di-vine Providence, in Puerto Rico; Our Lady of Quinche, in Ecuador; Our Lady of 33, In Uruguay.

Queridos amigos en Cristo,

Este mes le pedimos a nuestras parroquias hacer una segunda colectas especial para 2 diferentes causas igual de importantes: Catho-lic Home Missions y la Arquidiócesis de los servicios militares de Estados Unidos.

Catholic Home Missions apoya a diócesis y parroquias en nuestro país que simplemente no cuentan con los recursos económicos que ofrecen servicios pastorales básicos. Los ministerios y servicios que son comunes en nuestras parroquias, como la Misa y los sacra-mentos, educación religiosa y capacitación ministerial son escasos en muchas partes de nuestro país. Estas misiones están localiza-das en áreas como Los Apalaches, los estados del sur y de las montañas rocosas, lugares donde la cantidad de católicos son minoría pero su deseo por las cosas de Dios y por la riqueza de nuestra fe católica es enorme.

Una parte de los fondos también apoyará a la Arquidiócesis de los servicios militares. Esta Arquidiócesis atiende las necesidades pastorales de aquellos en bases militares en muchos países, así como en hospitales de veteranos. Los sacerdotes, religiosos y religios-as y ministros laicos en la Arquidiócesis de los servicios militares atienden a más de 1 millón de personas. Tener presencia católica en estos sitios para aquellos que nos sirven en las fuerzas militares es una forma de demostrarles nuestro agradecimiento por su com-promiso con nuestro país.

Por favor se tan generoso como te sea posible cuando se haga esta segunda colecta en tu parroquia. Que Dios te bendiga a ti y a tu familia y seres queridos en esta próxima festividad del Día de acción de gracias y siempre.

Un vistazo a la liturgia de este mes El evangelio de los domingos en noviembre marca el final del año litúrgico y, en algún momento, puede sonar un poco sombrío. Es en noviembre cuando comienzan las advertencias de las señales que marcan el fin de los tiempos y los lla-mados a la vigilancia; pero el comienzo del mes está marcado por la celebración de Todos los Santos, que es central para todo el pueblo de Dios. Aunque en nuestros países hispanos nativos, el Día de los Muertos tiene prioridad, se debe hacer hincapié en el 1 de no-viembre como un momento especial para reconocer la santidad y la amistad con Dios de tantos que nos han precedido, así como de los muchos que están Aún con nosotros. El fin de mes es como el cierre de la paradoja que comienza en las lecturas de las Bienaventuranzas el día 1. La solemnidad de Nuestro Señor Jesucristo, Rey del Universo, presenta a un hombre crucificado como el rey de los creyentes y, de hecho, , de toda la creación. El llamado a la paz se recuerda tanto en las vacaciones de los Veteranos como en el recuerdo de San Martín de Tours, el soldado que dejó caer sus armas para seguir su fe. Noviembre también es un momento para expresar gratitud por todo lo que hemos recibido. Celebramos el Día de Acción de Gracias, un momento importante para el país y uno de profundo significado religioso. También se celebra una gran cantidad de santos estadounidenses en noviembre, que es un buen momento para reflexio-nar sobre los modelos a seguir más cercanos a nosotros.
