Under the guidance of the Holy Spirit, we will improve our lives by continuing to understand the teachings of the Catholic Church, sharing with the poor, providing support for our young people, the sick and the lonely, worshipping with reverence and enthusiasm, providing stewardship for the gifts God has committed to our care, and celebrating together as a Christian family.

Msgr. Frances I. Malone Ordination Information
Monsignor Frances I. Malone, Bishop-elect of the Diocese of Shreveport, will
be ordained as the third Bishop of Shreveport on January 28, 2020. Due to
an outpouring of enthusiasm from the faithful of our diocese and Bishop-
elect Malone’s desire to include more of his future flock in this joyous cele-
bration, the site of his ordination to the Episcopacy has been changed and
is now scheduled for 2:00 pm on Tuesday, January 28, 2020, at the Shreve-
port Convention Center. We anticipate seating for 2500 people, therefore
tickets will not be required. A special reception for our newly ordained bish-
op will also be held at the Convention Center at the conclusion of the ordi-
nation Mass.
Evening Vespers will be conducted on Monday, January 27, 2020 in the Ca-
thedral of St. John Berchmans at 6:00 pm. This will be an opportunity for
Bishop-elect Malone to meet and greet members of religious orders and per-
sons from the political community. Additionally, family members and guests
of Bishop-elect Malone and visiting bishops and clergy of the Diocese of
Shreveport will be in attendance. This service is open to anyone. Tickets will
not be required.
The Diocese of Shreveport Prison Ministry is col-lecting new crew socks for men and women inmates for Christmas. Socks may be dropped off at the Catho-lic Center before Friday, December 20. The socks need to be new and not the short ankle type. Also needed are Divine Mercy booklets for men at David Wade Center.
Two job positions are available in the Pastoral Suite of the Catholic Center: The first is an administrative assistant for youth & Hispanic ministries. This position will be open mid-January and interviewing will begin as soon as resumes from qualified applicants are received. The ideal candidate will possess the ability to speak Spanish and have the experience of clerical work & hos-pitality skills. The second position is diocesan Coordinator of Liturgy. House Blessing for Epiphany
The traditional date of epiphany is January 6, but in the United
States it is celebrated on the Sunday between
January 2 and January 8. Some communities have the custom of
blessing homes while recalling the visit of the Magi.
This year Epiphany is Monday January 6.
Here is a blessing for you and your family:
**********************************************************
Using chalk, inscribe the horizontal frame above the door with
the inscription shown below. The letters C M B come from the
traditional names for the “three kings”- Caspar, Melchior, and
Balthazar. Each person receives a turn to make one or more of
the marks:
C-2-M-0-B-19
Lord our God, bless this household, all our guests, and all our
comings and goings. May we blessed with health, goodness of
heart, gentleness, and the keeping of your law. We give thanks to
you, O God, who created us, redeemed us, and loves us.
Amen.
