Suggested Goal for 20091. To build and strengthen the work of King’s Cafe in the Schools.2. To launch a new Parent’s & Toddlers group.3. To progressively enhance the facilities at the back of St Mark’s for both Church and community use.4. To see “The Ark” growing and to help equip and encourage

new leaders to get involved in this ministry. 5. To see a St Mark’s pastoral visiting team set up.


PHASE 1: Access WCA new access WC is situated

close to the disabled ramp access to the building. An additional bathroom can be placed next to this one for ambulant users.

The new bathrooms are to include baby changing facilities.


PHASE 2:

Children’s RoomsThere will be two new

children’s room for the expansion of the growing Sunday school “The ARK”. Above the new access WC the balcony shall be extended and enclosed from the stairwell to create a new room with access to the converted bell tower room.


PHASE 3: KitchenIn the other stairwell an

enclosed kitchen space will be created. Access to the kitchen will be through the main hall via the community space for which the kitchen will cater for during social and community events.


PHASE 4: Community SpaceIn the main hall area a new community space will be created using sliding/folding

partitions. This area can be used for social and community events.

The flexible space will provide several different options for dividing the area for the needs of the church.


PHASE 4: Sliding/ Folding DoorsSliding folding doors will be made of glass screens or glass with timber frame.

A long plane of partitions separates the space below the gallery from the main hall.


Community SpaceAll partitions can be opened for large church or community events.


Community SpaceSome partitions closed to give a crèche or meeting space in the corner.


Community SpaceThe whole of the community space is enclosed and the crèche is opened up to form

one large room for community or church events.


Community SpaceAll partitions are closed off to form a smaller community space for events with the

crèche enclosed to form a smaller meeting room.


ExamplesGlass screens and timber partitions have used in other churches on the island. One example

can be found at Georgetown Methodist Church. On the right, an example of how timber glass mix partitions have been used to enclose a classroom space.

PHASE 5: Lady ChapelTo single glaze the lady chapel, remove 2 pews and put in comfy church chairs to

yield a warm chapel, meeting or prayer space.


Possible New ScreensTo install new electric projection screens and projectors so that everyone can see clearly

without this technology getting in the way of the architectural beauty of the building.

Proposal 1

The meeting is requested to give approval for the Access WC to proceed, subject to the net cost of the project (including fees) not exceeding £20,000 after taking

account of any grants donations and proceeds of fund raising specifically related to the project.
