PASTOR’S CORNER: I want to extend a special welcome to our guests and the extended family members of our First Communicants. What a joyous celebration for our children, their families and also for our faith community. This celebration allows us all to travel back on memory lane, reflecting on the day we received our first communion. We recall the white dress, white shirt and blue tie, having grandparents, Godparents,

aunts and uncles join us. But we also remember that this is the first time we received Jesus, the body and blood of Jesus Christ. As I’ve visited the second graders at Holy Family School and in our Religious Education Program, they’ve told me they are excited, nervous and curious about what the bread and wine tastes like? As Catholics we come to believe “Jesus is the vine and we are the branches. Whoever remains in me and I in him will bear much fruit, because without me you can do nothing.” Receiving the body and blood of Jesus keeps us rooted in God’s love over and over and over again. This is the beauty of the sacrament that Jesus comes to us each time we present ourselves to Him. Thank you to all who have assisted our young people in preparing for this sacrament, especially the parents. Parents, you will be the first teachers in the way of faith. May you also be the best of teachers, bearing witness to the faith by what you say and do! Congratulations!

Fr. Kenneth J. Glaser

Mission Appeal:

Each year, every parish in the Archdiocese invites various missionaries to present their ministry to our

community. May 5th and 6th we will welcome Sr. Carol Welp, SSpS. Sr. Carol is a member of the Holy

Spirit Missionaries Sisters, who serve in more than 50 countries throughout the world. She has served in

Ghana and West Africa for 21 years. She has also served as a world-wide spiritual animator for other

missionaries for 10 years. Sr. Carol is now serving at Divine Word College in Epworth, helping to train

future missionaries. She will share with us about the Sisters' mission work here in the USA and in the

Caribbean. Sr. Carol will have envelopes available. Checks should be made out to St. Ludmila Parish.
