Prayer of the Week Almighty ever-living God, as we wait in joyful expectation for the birth of Your Son, our Lord Jesus Christ, help us to open our hearts in love to our neighbor. Strengthen our efforts to act blamelessly so that we please You, O merciful Father. Open our hearts to Your ways, thereby empowering us to be vigilant always and wary of anything that might corrupt our holiness. As we hear today in the reading from Isaiah, “Would that you might meet us doing right, that we were mindful of You in our ways.” Through our Lord Jesus Christ, your Son, who lives and reigns with you in the unity of the Holy Spirit, one God, for ever and ever.

The Messiah Benefits the Mercy Inn Soup Kitchen, Wyandanch Through the generosity of the Church of St. Joseph, the renowned St. Joseph’s Choir will present a free concert at

St. Joseph’s Church in Babylon Village on Sunday, December 14, at 7:30PM. The choir will perform selections from Handel’s MESSIAH and Bach’s MAGNIFICAT to the accompaniment of soloists, trumpeters, harpsichord, and the Sophisticated Strings. The concert will include other beautiful choral selections and will be preceded by a moving candlelight procession. The choir has sung on Fox 5 and on European national television and in the presence of many prominent figures, including Popes John Paul II and Benedict XVI, Cardinals Bevilaqua, Egan, Myers, and O’Connor. This past July, they embarked on a third European concert tour to the Czech Republic, Austria, and Germany. St. Joseph’s R. C. Church is located on North Carll Ave. in Babylon Village, one block north of Main Street and two blocks south of the Babylon railroad station. Early arrival is recommended as the church is put in complete darkness promptly at 7:00PM. Baskets at the doors will welcome a free-will offering. Checks may be made payable to THE MERCY INN SOUP KITCHEN. All proceeds go to the Inn.

This weekend , the first Sunday of Advent, we will be hosting a Baby Bottle Fundraiser to benefit The Life Center of Long Island. The Life Center is a crisis pregnancy center that counsels women and men who are experiencing an unplanned pregnancy. They provide maternity housing, medical care, referrals, cribs, car seats, diapers, and ALL other baby items that are needed. We undertook this campaign last year. Although

124 bottles were returned filled, 116 bottles were not taken by parishioners. We ask that you please take a bottle and fill it with your loose change at the end of the day. Be sure to recite the prayer on the bottle. It is our hope that the home of each of our parishioners will have a bottle to fill. In this season of giving, this season in which we look forward to the Birth of Jesus, our contributions will be beautifully appropriate. Let us pray with our whole heart for the lives of our unborn children.

May our Merciful Lord grant them healing.

Scripture Reflection:

We are the servants of

God, each with his or

her own task. We will

be judged good stewards if, at His coming, He

finds us ready, conscientiously pursuing the tasks

to which we have been called.

Living Stewardship: We are grateful this week

for all stewards in our parish who strive to be alert

to the work of God in the present moment through

service in our parish ministries.

Let us pray that as vigilant stewards of God’s

gifts, we seek to follow Jesus by making our

gifts, shared among the many, a priority

during Advent.

SACRIFICIAL OFFERING: Because of the Thanksgiving holiday, our bulletin was submitted to the publisher earlier than usual; for that reason, the collection amounts for November 23rd will be printed next weekend. Thank you for your patience.

Our parish family mourns the loss of a dear parishioner and friend, Veronica Leszkiewicz. Veronica was a member of our parish for decades, during

which time she was active in the St. Ladislaus Holy Rosary Society. Please keep Veronica’s family in your prayers. Eternal rest grant unto her, Lord.

Update! We hope that you

have circled Saturday,

September 19, on your 2015

calendar. On that special day,

we will celebrate our 100th Anniversary. A Mass

will be celebrated by Bishop Murphy at 5:00pm to

be followed by a banquet at Verdi’s in Westbury.

Details will be forthcoming in church bulletins

and pulpit announcements. For now, please

continue to spread the word to family and friends!

Take note: As you know, this is flu season! While current

liturgical practices are still in place, some parishioners

might wish to refrain from offering their hand at the sign

of peace if they are indisposed or are wary of germs.

Please respect the wishes of those who choose to nod or

give a verbal expression of peace. Thank you!
