Dear Friends: Before ending the season of Ordinary Time in our church year, we come once again to our sacred celebra ons of All Saints (Nov. 1) and All Souls (Nov. 2). To those of you who are experiencing the first All Souls Day without a loved one, please know of my special prayers for you and your families. This weekend, along with our regular weekend Mass schedule, we will offer our annual candlelight memorial Mass on Sunday evening November 1 at 6:30pm in church. During this Mass, we will honor all of our parishioners who have passed from us since last All Saints and All Souls Days. I invite you to join us if you are able. If my math is correct, we are entering into, or close to, 8 months of the pandemic. Again, I thank each and everyone of you for your prayers and constant support—of one another and of our parish. I am par cularly grateful for our teachers in our school and our catechists in our PSR program and Confirma on team. In our office, we con nue to consider new ways to connect parishioners through ministry. Our Confirma on students are finishing up their process of prepara on for the sacrament. Thank you to them and to their catechists. Please keep our 2020 Confirma on class in your prayers. You remain in my prayers. Have a great week! Sincerely,
Fr. Trey Nelson Pastor

Please Note: Please Join Us for Weekly Perpetual Help Novena Beginning last Tuesday evening October 20, we resumed praying the entire Perpetual Help Novena immediately following the 5:30 pm Vigil Mass. One of our COVID-19 protocols is that we do not have any printed materials in church. Therefore, if you would like to pray the novena, there are 2 options: you may print this out at home and bring it with you, or you may pick up a copy when you arrive in church. HOWEVER, please take whatever copy you use home with you when you leave church. Visit our website: http://www.stjudecatholic.org/news/Perpetual%20Help%20Novena%20WEB%20CARD.pdf Thank you very much.

This fall, on the Nov. 3rd presidential ballot, you will have the opportunity to vote on a pro-life constitutional amendment called the "Love Life Amendment," and it will be No. 1 in the list of constitutional amendments on the ballot. This is a crucial effort to protect unborn babies and their mothers by making sure there is no right to abortion or the funding of abortion in the Louisiana Constitution.

So much can be said about all that happened to us this year. But from Coronavirus to quarantine, the closing of our parishes and schools, economic instability, and social justice issues that continue to challenge us, one thing remains steadfast:
But none of this would be possible without the support of our faithful parishioners.

ALL SAINTS DAY FOR ALL! November 1, 2017 • Tracy Earl Welliver
An Everyday Stewardship Reflec on for the Feast of All Saints
I remember a ending Catholic School growing up and every year having to write a report on a saint. We were told that these people of faith were role models for us in our Chris an journey. Even though they were real people, they always seemed to me to be larger than life. When I was younger I never thought I could become just like them. Now that I am older, I realize that we are all in fact called to be just like them. Holiness is not something reserved for those in a book of saints. It is the goal of all inten onal disciples living as good stewards. However, it takes commitment to achieve holiness. It also requires us to live mindfully and be con nually aware of how God is moving in our lives. You may never have thought about a stewardship way of life as a pathway to sainthood, but if you take the
me to read the lives of saints you will see how these heroes truly cul vated the gi s God had given them and gave them back with increase to God. You will encounter stories of outreach to the poor, comfor ng the distressed, and befriending the lonely. And you will begin to see the parallel between what these great disciples did in their lives with the simple responses to God’s call in your life. The Church may never formally canonize you, but there will be those whose paths you cross that will bear witness to the fact that at least – for a moment – they caught a glimpse of what could have been a living saint.

Culture of Life Reflections When considering faithful ci zenship, “the U.S. bishops have reaffirmed that ‘the threat of abor on remains our preeminent priority because it directly a acks life itself, because it takes place within the sanctuary of the family, and because of the number of lives destroyed.’”
