In Rome there is a

Church in what was the

house of the Mother of the

Emperor Constantine, St.

Elena. There you will find several relics of the crucifixion,

such as the trunk of the cross, the sign of INRI, a nail

that pierced the Divine Body of Christ, a thorn from the

crown of thorns and also the finger with which St.

Thomas touched the wounds of Christ.

Faced with the inexplicable, it is easy to doubt,

much like we doubt an immense love that asks for

nothing in return. The joy of the Resurrection is only

possible when we experience it as our own. When it

stops being a story that we have been told and we

experience it for ourselves by finally leavng our life of sin

that enslaves us. When we are liberated by Him to live a

new life, a resurrection reminding us we are forgiven.

Such mercy is divine because only God can give us

forgiveness.

When Jesus forgave the sins of the paralyzed

man, who was descended from the roof of St. Peter’s

house to his feet. The Pharisees who were present were

shocked and said that only God can forgive sins. Jesus

shows that he has that power by healing the paralyzed

man. He, and only He, can do this because Jesus is God,

but this power is transmitted to the Apostles giving them

the Holy Spirit and the power to forgive sins. This power

in turn is transmitted by the Apostles through laying

their hands on their successors, up until the most recent

ordained Priest. In such a way that Christ himself

continues to forgive the sins through the Priest who

absolves the sins of the repented penitent, not on their

own behalf, but in the name of the Father and of the Son

and of the Holy Spirit.

As Pope Francis says, “God never gets tired of

forgiving, it is we who get tired of asking for forgiveness”.

Seize that we have a God who loves you so

much that He has conquered death and with His

resurrection He has given us new life and forgives our

greatest sins that enslave us to give us a new, more

meaningful, free and happy life.

En Roma existe una

Iglesia en lo que fue la casa

de la Madre del Emperador

Constantino, Santa Elena. Allí

se encuentran varias reliquias

de la crucifixión tales como el tronco de la cruz, el letrero

de INRI, un clavo que traspasó el Divino Cuerpo de

Cristo, una espina de la corona de espinas y además, el

dedo de Santo Tomás con el que tocó las llagas de Cristo.

Lamentablemente recordamos al Apóstol por su

incredulidad en lugar de su profesión de fe y su fidelidad a

Cristo.

Ante lo inexplicable, lo que rompe con el orden

natural, es fácil dudar, como dudamos de un inmenso

amor que no pide nada a cambio. La alegría de la

Resurrección sólo es posible experimentarla cuando nos

consta de cuenta propia, cuando deja de ser un relato que

nos han platicado y la experimentamos en nuestra propia

vida porque finalmente hemos muerto a nuestra vida de

pecado que nos esclaviza y somos liberados de él para

vivir una nueva vida, una resurrección al sabernos

perdonados. Tal misericordia es Divina porque sólo Dios

nos puede dar el perdón.

Cuando Jesús perdona los pecados al paralítico

que descendieron en su camilla desde el techo de la casa

de San Pedro ante Jesús, El le perdona sus pecados. Los

Fariseos allí presentes se escandalizan diciendo que sólo

Dios puede perdonar pecados. Jesús demuestra que tiene

ese poder curando al paralítico. El y sólo El puede hacerlo

porque Jesús es Dios, pero este poder lo transmite a sus

Apóstoles dándoles el Espíritu Santo y el poder para

perdonar los pecados. Este poder a su vez, los Apóstoles

lo transmiten mediante la imposición de manos a sus

sucesores hasta el más reciente Sacerdote Ordenado. De

tal manera que Cristo mismo sigue perdonando los

pecados a través del Sacerdote que absuelve los pecados

del penitente arrepentido no en su propio nombre, sino

en el Nombre del Padre y del Hijo y del Espíritu Santo.

Como el Papa Francisco dice: Dios no se cansa de

perdonarnos, somos nosotros los que nos cansamos de

pedir perdón.

Aprovechemos que tenemos un Dios que nos ama

tanto que ha vencido a la muerte y con su Resurrección

nos ha dado nueva vida y nos perdona nuestros más

graves pecados que nos esclavizan para darnos una nueva

vida más plena, libre y feliz.

this Sunday April 12 at 7 p.m. in Saint Joseph Church. It

is not required to sin well, but with so much love. You

are expected to come.
