“ Jesus did this as the beginning of his signs at Cana in Galilee.”
Last Sunday we celebrated the Feast of the Baptism of our Lord. The Holy
Trinity, Father, Son and Spirit, revealed Itself to man at Jesus’ baptism. Now
Jesus is attending a wedding feast with His mother and the bridegroom has run
out of wine for his guests.
Mary brings this to Jesus’ attention, and He answers her rather strongly,
“Woman, how does your concern affect me? My hour has not yet come.” Jesus
is focused on doing His Father’s will first, not objecting to fulfilling His
mother’s request. What Jesus does next foretells what His Father’s will is for
Him, to bring us from the old law to His new Covenant of Love.
Jesus uses the 15 to 25 gallons of water in each of the six stone jars, meant for
the old Jews ritual of purification and cleansing, and changes the water into
what it was not, wine. Not only did He change water into wine, but into an
abundance of the finest wine. This was an Old Testament prophetic sign of the
Messiah that the Jews were waiting for.
God the Father spoke at Jesus’ baptism, “You are my beloved Son; with you I
am well pleased.” And now the Father has willed that Jesus begin to reveal
Himself as the Messiah at this wedding feast in Cana.
Mary, with complete faith in her Son, turns to the servers and utters her last
recorded words in the Bible, “Do whatever he tells you.” Mary has the same
message for us today, telling us how to follow her Son and have eternal life in
Him, “Do whatever he tells you.” When we obey Mary’s command, we too, will
be focused on doing our heavenly Father’s will.

WELCOME TO ST. JOSEPH
CHURCH
Our desire is that every member of our par-
ish family encounters Jesus Christ in a very
personal and life-changing way as they jour-
ney through life within our community.
That now includes you and we welcome
you to this very personal, yet communal
journey of faith as part of our parish fami-
ly. As you begin the next part of your faith
journey with us, we encourage you to take
the steps below:
1. Get connected and stay up-to-date
with what's going on here at St. Joseph
Church. The Lord is alive and working in
many ways here which means a lot of
ministries and events are taking place
almost every week. We provide a number
of ways for you to stay connected with all
of that. Read our weekly bulletin and visit
our website (www.stjoseph-largo.org) to
keep yourself “in the loop” of happenings
at the church.
2. Spend time in Adoration. Adoration is
every First Friday of each month all day
with Benediction at 7 pm. Adoration is
also offered every Tuesday at 6 pm fol-
lowed by Mass at 7 pm. Stop in and expe-
rience the renewing power of being in
God's presence. Jesus waits for you so he
can pour his love and mercy into your
heart.
3. Seek to give in selfless, self-giving
ways. God has given you gifts to share in
helping the Church build the kingdom and
accomplish her mission. Seek the guid-
ance of the Holy Spirit to help you discern
where you are meant to serve. Check out
our Ministries and Organizations at the
Welcome table in the foyer. Pray, discern,
then take that leap of faith and get en-
gaged in the life of the parish.
4. Complete the parish registration
form (you can obtain one at the Wel-
come Table) before you leave . Let us
know you are here so we can properly
welcome you!
WELCOME AND MAY GOD BLESS YOU
AND YOUR FAMILY.

The miracle at the wedding feast in Cana is the
first sign of Jesus' divine identity in the Gospel
of John. We hear that after the disciples wit-
nessed the water turn into wine, they "began to
believe in him." Do you recall when you first
started to believe in Jesus?

Sharing the Gospel
Mary had great faith in God. She also
knew that God could do anything. So
when the wedding servers ran out of
wine, she knew Jesus could help. She
said, "Do whatever Jesus tells you to
do." That's the smartest thing any of
us can do.
Prayer
Dear God, help me to do everything
you say. I know you can do anything.
Mission for the Week
What does Jesus tell you to do in his
word, the Bible? Find out by reading
the Bible for 15 minutes a day with
your family. You could start by

LIVE THE LITURGY - INSPIRATION
FOR THE WEEK
Did you ever consider that God takes great
delight in you? We are by no means second
or afterthoughts of God. As the master arti-
san, God takes delight in every fabric of our
being and every single component of who we
are. We are intentionally and lovingly de-
signed! God gets much joy out of every child
He creates, and He does not abandon us.
God is definitely in charge! God can take a
painful past or an apparent dead-end and turn
it into a glorious future. He can transform
nothing into something and is always eagerly
ready to give us the gifts of faith, hope, and
love. We are never bound by the past and
never without options. All we have to do is
listen to Him. Are we willing to give up the
controls and allow Him to do what He does
best?

Attention all Young Adults:
If you (or someone you know) is a young
adult between the ages of 21 and 42, we are
inviting you to our first annual Wine and
Cheese Mixer Event. Come join and meet
other young adults in our parish in a relaxed
setting as we begin the conversation to dis-
cuss the challenges of living our faith as
young adult Catholics in a secular world, all
while starting careers, pursuing professional
interests, contemplating marriage and family
life, and other vocations. The event will be
held in the Rosemont Room on Friday, Janu-
ary 25th at 7pm. For more information,
please see Vanetta Wallace or Fr. Boxie.
When the wine ran short, the mother of Jesus
said to him, "They have no wine." And Jesus said
to her, "Woman, how does your concern affect
me? My hour has not yet come." His mother said
to the servers, "Do whatever he tells you." (Jn 2:3-
5)
"Our entire good consists not only
in accepting the truth of God's
word, but in persevering in it."
