Pruning Needed

Recently, I noticed that our front bushes needed pruning.

The outer leaves of the boxwoods were pretty green, but upon

closer inspection, the branches toward the back were looking

pretty ratty. A major overall was needed. After two days of work,

I can tell it will take one more day to complete the clean-out. The

Good Lord, in His wisdom and with His marvelous sense of humor,

gently pointed out to me that all humans, myself included, could

occasionally use a “clean-out”. The part of us on the outside – the

part of us that the world sees – can look just fine. But there can

still be a mess behind all that cuteness that God sees, and an

honest heart can see it, too. So get out your garden gloves, get

down on your knees, and join me in doing some pruning. We will

all be better for our efforts.

Blessings,

Martha Arizpe

On March 23, 2019 our UMW was invited to attend First UMW Celebration of 150 Years in MISSION. Shirley and I attended. They served punch and cupcakes. We played a table intro game. Then they had a presentation skit in costume of “Hester Williams” (1867) by Chrystle Swain, “Lilly Hammond” (1889) by Dixie Armstrong and “Carrie Davis” (1900) by Julie Fuschak. After each skit they had a present day talk by Rita Handley, Zoe Wilson and Lavon Mills. It was very interesting and informative and fun. –Sharon Gibson
